Relevant portion begins around 1:51:22. There was a lot of discussion at the time here whether there was lingering soreness or if he reinjured himself, and it looks like he did in fact get injured again.
It was obvious at the time that they weren’t being entirely honest about why they shut him down again, but now there’s confirmation.

Yeah everyone knew it was too soon. Why the fuck did they let him do that. So dumb.
If you’ve pulled a hammy, you knew it was too soon
Also, Pat mentions he has a grudge against the Pacers because they threatened to sue him. Anyone know what happened there? It’s the first I’ve ever heard of it.
Edit: hijacking my own top comment because some people are arguing about whether it was “too soon” and are completely wrong. Take a look at other comments he’s made.
[Old Man and the 3 podcast](https://youtu.be/xCYhV-A6WCQ?si=I_fESdA53B8i0wRg). At 23:43 he says that were it not for the trade, he would have sat more games. Reddick floats a week. Tyrese says another couple games.
He said the same thing on jj redick’s podcast
Why do you add ‘too early’ to the statement, that’s not at all what he said. He said “I came back and I got hurt again.”
I just wish the team didn’t lie straight to our faces about it
Remember when yall dragged me to no end for suggesting this was the case, that his playing was entirely motivated by financial gain and he’d be sitting out until healthy otherwise?
Pepperidge Farms remembers.
