Why The Milwaukee Bucks WON’T Make The NBA Finals!
Yo what’s going on guys my name is Alex and today I want to talk about the Milwaukee Bucks because as a whole they have been doing a lot of restructuring at least with their entire franchise of course we know that they got Damien Lillard this last off season and there
Were even questions potentially if Brook Lopez was going to come back he eventually did we also had concerns if Chris Milton was even going to come back to the original player he was before his injuries he is starting to it back to that point but they also hired a rookie
Head coach and fired him in the exact same season and here they are with Doc Rivers and I just don’t know what to think about this Milwaukee team I think the problems that they’ve been having with their head coaching position and the problems that they’ve been having
With their defense which I think is in part because they got Damian Lillard I think has really really turned me in a way where and I hate to say this too cuz I love the bucks but I just don’t know if the Bucks are really serious title
Contenders so let’s go through some of the problems I think the Milwaukee Bucks have and I’m going to start off off with this head coaching thing because I think that’s the biggest thing to note because Doc Rivers just got the new job since Adrian Griffin got fired a week ago and
I have to say this is one of the weirder moves and I’m really not too sure what to think about it because yes Adrian Griffin was a rookie head coach so he was not going to be perfect in his first year especially coaching a title contending team a team that is expecting
To get to the finals this is a coach that was probably going to make some mistakes probably was not going to be the best and I just don’t think the Bucks realize that hey maybe we need a more experienced coach to go through this long and rigorous season so that
Way when we get to the playoffs we’re going to be battle tested we’re already battle tested but we’re going to have a coach that is also battle tested so I think from the start Agent Griffin was just a bad idea at head coach even despite what high hopes you may have had
For him as a rookie head coach it just wasn’t going to probably work out because again he’s a firste coach and they need to make mistakes but when you are looking for a title and you are wanting to win a championship sometimes the mistakes have to be so minor that
You are going to be able to get through it all because you’re just that great but Adent Griffin I think his defensive schemes were a little bit questionable offensive schemes also very questionable as well there’s many moments this season already where like Giannis is telling the coach exactly what to do and he’s
Just kind of breaking plays and Giannis is kind of doing whatever he wants or whatever he thinks is right in that current situation and I think a star player should have that talk with their head coach but it just kind of seemed more of a demand more than a suggestion
For the head coach and I think that was a power difference that I just think was always going to lean in giannis’s favor because he’s been there the longest and I think that power dynamic as well with Adrien Griffin being a new head coach was seen when Terry stas left before the
Season even started because of what whatever Terry STS was trying to do ad Adrien Griffin was just not having it and it was kind of disrespectful to what Terry STS was because he was a head coach he was a head coach for Damien Lillard who they ended up getting
Beginning in the off season and I think Terry St just kind of felt way it’s like bro you are a rookie head coach and yes I am your assistant but you should also treat me with some level of respect for what I’ve done in this league and he
Just didn’t feel that way so he got up out of there and I think we should have seen something coming from that moment on that hey maybe this thing isn’t going to work out but here we are and Doc Rivers is the new head coach and this is
What’s so confusing to me because what I just said before I think is all true if you’re going to get a rookie head coach they’re probably going to fit better on a team that’s trying to rebuild and build a culture not on a title contending team so you want someone with
Some good playoff experience and someone that is Battle tested and has gone through the rigers of the regular season but here we are with Don rivers and I think he is a good head coach I do think he gets a little bit overhated however with me saying this he’s a good regular
Season coach I think he’s going to help the Bucks get better on defense just be a more well oiled machine on offense he’s going to feature Giannis and D more in the pick and roll Dame will probably get a lot more ball handling responsibilities at something Doc Rivers
Has been saying but even with all this being said I still don’t think Doc Rivers is the coach because again in the playoffs he just does not know how to win playoff series when he’s up 3-1 and there is plenty of other examples where he’s blowing leads even if it’s a single
Game like 14 15 Point leads his teams are blowing them consistently and for a guy with the amount of talent that He has coached he just shouldn’t be in that position so while I do think Doc Rivers is going to a better Coach than Adrien Griffin at least for this Bucks team
This year I still don’t think Doc Rivers is the answer and that leads me to my next question why the hell did Mike Boon holer get fired to begin with again Mike booner has been battle tested much like Doc Rivers and he’s been the head coach
For the bucks for quite some time and he was able to lead them to the finals I know Mike Boon holer had his issues but dude Doc Rivers has the same old issues as well so you might as well just keep the guy who has been there and players
Respect instead of firing him for a rookie head coach that nobody respects and then hiring a coach that is new to this franchise and has to build this level of trust for the rest of the regular season which is already more than halfway through and even if they
Didn’t want to keep mik Boon Holzer and they wanted a more experienced coach with championship experience why were they not going after Nick nurse before he went to the 76ers now there is a report that apparently jannis didn’t even want Nick nurse there saying that he had a greater desire to hire Asian
Griffin just because of how much Giannis did not want to get Nick nurse and if that’s the case that is an absolutely insane move by Giannis and if you’re the front office you cannot allow your star player to do that because if you were having questions about mik Boon holzer’s
Productivity in the playoffs why are we getting a rookie head coach and Doc Rivers that makes no sense at all they were going to bring the exact same problem that you were trying to get rid of at least with Nick nurse he is more
Of a ex as the nose guy and in terms of just an overall head coach dude Nick nurse is by far and away better than Doc Rivers and Adrien Griffin a rookie head coach Nick nurse is probably a top five coach in the league I think you could
Potentially make him a top three coach I just just going based off the top of my head I would have to truly think about it at the end of the day but Nick nurse is one of the best coaches in the league and the fact that Giannis one of the
Best players in the world do not want him on the team for what whatever reason whether it’s because he was losing to the Raptors when Nick Nurf was the coach there uh in the playoffs and he feels some sort of way about that that’s nasty that is nasty work by Giannis and what
Makes this even crazy as well as doc riffers was apparently Consulting Adrien Griffin throughout his bucks tenure and he just got fired for Doc River so I don’t know what to make of that as well if they weren’t happy with what Adrian Griffin was doing and he was getting
Advice from Doc Rivers oh my God at some point we have to look at this Milwaukee franchise in the front office and think what are they doing what what’s going on in their brain are they okay up there because again I think Doc Rivers will be
Better and maybe he just needs to be there in the environment to coach a little bit better but I do think that report if it is correct and if everything is true there I think that is a little bit concerning for the Bucs future as well now the coaching
Situation I don’t think has been the biggest problem I think the biggest problem the Bucks have faced this year is truly their defense all season long they have been a bottom 10 bottom five defense in the league and that is quite different from what they have been doing
In probably the past 3 to four years where they are usually a top five to top 10 defense in the league I think a big part of that does have to do with this Damen Liller trade because they did have to get off of Drew holiday to even get
Him but I think what the Bucks were thinking was Brook Lopez he just finished runner up in the defensive player of the year and Giannis we know what he is capable of as a defensive player as well and I think even this year Giannis has probably been the best
Defensively he has his entire career but Brook Lopez I would say has taken a step back and again because of coaching Personnel I don’t think they have really had the best sort of defensive schemes to kind of hide Damen Lillard as a poor Defender I think Damen Lillard is
Legitimately one of the worst defenders in the league he consistantly dies on screens he does not put in the effort that is needed for a team that is looking for a title so to me this Damen Lillard trade while I think has really up the Annie for the bucks in terms of
An offensive team dude defensively they are absolute trash and I just don’t see how a team that is yes probably one of the best offenses in the league it also has the worst defense in the league and I just don’t know how that’s going to be conducive to winning playoff games but
Again I have to look at the front office and say why are we not building this team around Damen Lillard’s flaws much like Giannis Anto TMO we can easily recognize his flaws he’s not a good shooter and he probably needs some more ball handling so he isn’t the primary
Playmaker and you probably also want to give him some some more defense as well so he doesn’t have to carry the load so you want to know what they did they got him Brook Lopez they got him Drew holiday and they had a healthy Chris Middleton and then they gave them a
Bunch of supporting pieces that were three and D guys and that is what won them the championship in 2021 now let’s look at Damen Lillard’s flaws and it’s really only one and it has to do with the defensive side of the ball cuz we know that he is one of the best
Offensive players in the league but in terms of his flaws defensively he is going to need perimeter help I do think the defense Giannis and Brook give is good enough but really it’s this perimeter defense that I think is really lacking and I’m surprised that the Bucks did absolutely nothing this offseason to
Even somewhat help Damen Lillard on the defensive end and potentially hide him on the defensive end they have Malik Beasley as their starting shooting guard someone who is equally as bad on the defensive end and Chris Middleton well I do think he can be a good Defender again
He’s been struggling with injuries and kind of recovering from that injury that he had a couple years ago so so he really hasn’t been the same sense on the defensive end and then when you look on the bench I mean you got Cameron Payne not a Defender Pat conington he’s solid
I guess and they do have guys off the bench like Bo champ and Andre Jackson but again these are young players that are still developing and now that Doc Rivers is the head coach I don’t really think those young guys are going to be getting a lot of run I think he’s going
To go more towards the veterans and again the veterans are not Defenders Off the Bench and look I understand that even with all of this being said the Milwaukee Buck are 32 and 15 they have the second best record in the East they are still winning games and I think they
Are still a very good team the way I’m seeing it though is that the Bucks have Championship aspirations and with all of these problems that I’ve discussed with their head coaching and Damen Liller joining and him maybe not even playing as great as he should on the offensive
End as well but really the defensive flaws of this team those being like the three big problems for the bucks I just think these problems are going to bite them in the ass when it comes comes playoff time and I think it is a cause for concern especially when teams in the
Eastern Conference like the Boston Celtics exist I think that team is just a much better well-rounded team and while I do think Giannis will be the best player in the series I think Tatum Brown porzingis Drew holiday Derek white that is a great starting five and I just
Don’t think that in a seven game series the Bucks are going to beat the Celtics again I think the Bucks are one of the best teams in the league and one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference but when it comes to getting over that hump
And making it back to the finals which they’ve been trying to do since 2021 I just think these problems that I’ve discussed in this video are going to hold them back at the end of the day but hey those are just my thoughts let me know down below what y’all think if you
