What’s GOING ON With Lamelo & Charlotte Hornets After Mitch Kupchak QUIT As GM!
So the NBA trade deadline just went by this past Thursday and unlike some other years you know this year it wasn’t really any big names or super big trades that just shook the NBA world and had people going crazy I mean probably some of the biggest names traded on Thursday
Was Patrick Beverly to the bucks or buddy Hill to the Sixers stuff like Evan fornier to the Pistons I mean what are we talking about it wasn’t it really wasn’t that much crazy action going on this year but but one of the few teams that I guess did have one of the bigger
Trades that happened on Thursday was actually the Charlotte Hornets and right off the bat y’all I need everyone to give the Hornets a round of applause for real for getting off the Gordon Hayward contract listen if you’re a Hornets fan you already know when you already feel
Me on this one from the beginning that signing it really never made too much sense we overpaid him for what he was he really come on now borderline Allstar at bet and then over time the signing just aged worse and worse I mean if the plan
Was to sign a guy that would be riddled with injuries and when he is healthy being above average role player I best I guess we got what we wanted but no that’s definitely that’s not what you want when it’s such a big contract so yeah to get off one of their most
Expensive contracts outside of Lamela ball chill out fol come on now that’s that’s a w already but on top of that they also had one of the bigger name tra that happen on Thursday and getting rid of PJ Washington one of their best young talents in a trade that allowed them to
Acquire Grant Williams train man in a 2027 first rounder so yeah and then on top of that they got rid of a couple players and just clean house and gave up on you know some of their recent draft picks such as James book Knight a player
That I ain’t going to lie I was pretty high on coming out of Yukon he was looking like he was looking like a microwave scorer but between the off court issues and just man the embarrassment on the court it’s safe to say they made the right decision so yeah
In this video we’re going to get into what’s going on with the Charlotte Hornets after this NBA trade deadline and what the future looks like what they got cooking up and just what to expect for real so yeah all my Hornet fans tap in let me know in the comments right now
How do you feel about the team as it’s presently constructed how do you feel about the NBA trade deadline moves and yeah before I go any further what’s up YouTube plug speaks back with another video if you’re new first of all welcome go ahead and sub also like the video if
You enjoy I upload quality basketball content and we’re on the grind for 5K Subs so I most definitely appreciate it but back to the video so let me begin this by highlighting the team’s positioning right now at the time of this video the Hornets are the 13th seat
In the East 10 and 41 on the season and just well on their way to having yet another below average season and having a chance at striking big in the NBA lottery obviously not somewhere you want to be after you just landed the second overall pick and when you have a
Potential Superstar like lamelo ball on the team however thankfully things are not that simple you see if you follow the Hornet or if you’re just you know a hornet fan you already know the success of this team has been compromised over the past couple years especially recently when their ceiling has been
Much higher than what their record may say due to a bunch of external factors that they can’t really control I mean things like lamelo being injured last year the man only played 36 games and this year he’s only played 22 because he act he had actually returned from a
Right ankle injury after being out for 6 weeks just to be injured yet again just two weeks later like what is that then you got the controversy with Miles Bridges he had he was kept out for damn whole season due to a domestic abuse case and now that he’s back we see that
Damn we was really missing this guy like he dropped 41 versus LeBron and the Lakers recently then a career high of 45 the very next game like the man can clearly hoop like say what you want about him off the court we know he had that phase of trying to rap and stuff
But the man can hoop and he missed the entire 2022 2023 season completely come on now only a goofy would think that would H the team he’s currently averaging over 27 and3 on some efficient shooting across the boards and again I’m not here to talk about just these
Players individually I’m here to talk about the NBA trade deadline but the point is the Hornet record is not an indication of their talent this is easily one of the most talented young teams in the Eastern Conference and I haven’t even mentioned come on now I ain’t even mentioned Brandon Miller yet
He’s about to give Wy and Chad a running for their money in the Rookie of the Year race like he might just he might just win it all so let me chill basically the point is the talent is there and even I’m really not even that
Delusional in saying he might win it all because bro did get the Lebron coine after dropping ath piece on the Lakers do not sleep bro it’s a smooth bucket but yeah back to the NBA trade deadline news and all of that the PJ Washington trade specifically I will admit probably
Hurt the most just because PJ Washington is a player that is homegrown you know they drafted this man and we could see his development year after year he’s actually been improving he’s became he became a very solid role player for us even dropping 40 on a couple of
Occasions and having some high scoring and just entertaining performances however if we keeping it real y’all it was just getting to a point where the Hornets had too much redundancy in the forward position and everybody was just doing all right right in the rows like y’all check this out Gordon Hayward
Forward 67 miles Bridges forward 67 PJ Washington forward 67 Brandon Miller forward 67 so yeah in my eyes when I look at this trade y’all it really just looks as if the Hornet shows not only the two youngest players but also the two players that have shown the most
Potential at being major contributors to this team having some sort of playoff success and to keep them on the team when you already have a position that is so redundant and like I said a lot of guys that are just really being all right in the roles now I do understand
That in saying that I got to acknowledge that they actually did end up trading for a forward position in return which is Grant Williams who’s only 66 however when you compare these contracts to the absolutely unnecessary amount of bread they was given to Gordon Hayward and
Then the money they was given to PJ Washington after he had signed his contract extension it just makes sense now I’m not going to pretend they was giving PJ Washington an unreasonable am of money they really was they was paying him up to his talent but the bottom line
Is Grant Williams contract is cheaper and he has a decent amount of upside being only 25 so I mean I’m not too mad at them in that department but yeah y’all before I wrap this video up I do want to quickly touch on the fact that
The Hornets do have they have a couple untouched problems but the one that they really should have worked on is in the guard position I mean honestly besides lamelo ball now that they got rid of Terry Rosier who do they have I mean I understand Nick Smith Jr has some
Potential they just traded for try man who could be solid for them but you have Amari Bailey who you literally just drafted and haven’t given much playing time you traded for Cy Lowry who a lot of people were saying y’all was going to dump at the NBA trade deadline um he’s
Still on the team so I mean maybe maybe in free agency they’ll give it to him I’m not too sure they also got Frank need the clean so y’all honestly I’m not I’m not sure what they’re doing there but they do have treyman who I believe in his upside
Again Nick Smith Jr I mean at least we know Seth Curry was a solid pickup you know that boy got a burner he’s a sniper but he’s not the man’s 33 he’s not the type of guy that’s just going to be giving you those solid starter minutes
So I don’t know but I’m going wrap this video up y’all let me know what you think in the comments was this a successful NBA trade deadline for the Hornets how are you feeling me personally I feel all right about it I am a Charlotte native so I I really just
Wanted to hop on the mic and give my thoughts but yeah y’all like the sub share sub if new all of that and I’m out
Thanks for watching, if you enjoyed help me out with a like and sub if new, grindin to 5K and beyond
