When does OKC host the All-Star Game?

If Indianapolis can do it, so can we!

Uh, no, we can’t, okc literally doesn’t have what’s required to host. That’s part of building the new arena, but there’s a lack of the quality of hotel space needed as well

  2. Yeah, you are underestimating the difference between Indianapolis and OKC. Indianapolis isn’t MUCH bigger, but they are much more established. (There’s a reason they have multiple major league teams.) It’ll be quite some time before OKC can do it. The good news is OKC is probably on a good track to grow into being able to do it within the next few decades, but we lack some of the bigger amenities to pull it off.

I believe okc is basing its future plans directly off of Indianapolis. So after 5-7 years or however long all of that takes to build what they plan, I could see okc hosting.

  4. If we can get on and stay on a path of infrastructure buliding like indy I’m betting early 30s.

I’ve been to Indianapolis a few times, and OKC can’t come close to matching what they have in terms of the ability to host large events. I was at GenCon last year along with 70,000 people and the city wasn’t ground to a halt with all that extra traffic. I was also there for the high school band Grand Nationals and downtown was perfectly fine despite 20,000 in attendance the same night the Pacers were also playing.

They said we were too small for a pro sports team once, too!

I mean at the rate we are growing? Probably mid 2030s. We are getting some new hotels and stuff now so it can’t be hard to imagine it ten years from now. We are potentially hosting parts of the Olympics in 2028 so NBA All Star doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch anymore. New arena, New stadiums, OKC is getting huge fast.
