Utah Jazz Trade Breakdowns and Details with highlights
In the NBA the trade deadline has come and gone let’s go ahead and break it Down yeah let’s go ahead and jump right into it let’s go ahead and talk the trade deadline shall we oh yeah it was a good one that was a good one it was a good one let’s talk about the one that happened a few days ago let’s talk about
Simone vono uh he was traded to the Pistons now it’s always funny how these always break like right after we finish this yeah absolutely yeah if there’s going to be any news that’s definitely going to happen as soon as we’re done filming Simone vono sorry was traded to
The Pistons the Jazz get Kevin Knox who is currently injured averages 17 points two rebounds on 18 minutes they also get a 2024 second round pick and the rights to Gabriel proa tell me about that what’s your what’s your thoughts on the trade there this is probably the biggest
Loss for the Jazz I would I mean in my opinion um is probably losing Simone because I mean this guy this guy’s starting for the team right I mean he’s a he’s a great defensive presence um he’s shooting 45% from the field he’s knocking down 39% of his threes
And he’s shooting 80% from the free throw line so Simone had a plus minus of 4.8 which of all the traded players is actually the only one that’s positive we’ll talk about that more in just a second but I mean he put in 1124 minutes for the Jazz this season and yeah that
That one hurts I mean I think we picked up some players right I mean we got some guys Kevin Knox a second I think the the probably the more promising player would be Gabriel pra um he’s a 6′ 7 he’s actually Italian you know they traded one Italian for another um he’s
Currently playing in Germany in the League kind of one of those draft and stash players right like he’s one of those guys you just kind of get his rights you kind of wait for him to be ready let me ask you that I feel like we
Gave up vono for almost nothing we got a second round draft pick wres to Gabriel where’s the value of this coming back to the Jazz at all uh I think the Jazz were looking for that second round pick to be honest with you I mean you think they
They plucked Simone out of the like the European League he’d been there for 10 seasons right yeah it’s twoe deal that they sign with them yeah I mean so you know a team gets a player that has shown he grew his his value this year in the
Minutes he played with the Jazz the Jazz are just trying to get an immediate return on investment into the minutes they put into him so why wasn’t he part of the long-term plan though that’s the that’s my thought there so obviously they they decided that he wasn’t part of
The long-term plan so was it one just get his value up to trade him or two they didn’t see enough value out of him to make him part of the long-term plans I think it’s probably it’s probably a little bit of Bol he got enough value so
That they could trade him and they saw him he could probably fit with the Jazz long term but is he a long-term role player for the Jazz probably not so let’s go ahead and move on over to the next trade there which is the story that
Broke uh this morning which is the kol linic trade which also includes uh oai oaji basically the Canadian super vet is returning home o oaji is going with him as well to the Toronto Raptors the Jazz receive Auto poter Jr currently hurts on the final year of his two-year deal uh
We get K uh Kira Lewis Jr and a first round pick what is your take on this trade well the kir ludus Jr is kind of an interesting one cuz yeah I mean he’s a 6′ thre point guard everybody knows the Jazz need zero point guards at this
Point right like he’s going to be buried on the depth chart he has been playing a lot of g-league minutes um I think the Jazz are probably looking to assign him to a g-league team you know obviously you know with with these trades they’re going to be needing to pull um Taylor
Hendricks out of the G league so this could be kind of a g-league signing you know or a two-way deal kind of thing auto porter has been around the league forever he’s an NBA champion he stopped at Washington Chicago Orlando Golden State Toronto now Utah like he said he’s
Hurt he’s a veteran guy you know I mean he’s going to have some of that veteran leadership that that’ll help some of the replacement probably from KO but this whole pick was centered around that first round draft pick yeah let’s talk about that first round draft pick for a
Second this is basically what I’ve been Gathering and this is kind of uh this is also echoed by uh Spence cheets on the ESPN 700 this afternoon that basically what Denny age and Jazz were looking to do is there’s plenty of people who were interested in Kelly oen kind of seems
Like the first person who came with the First on draft piit got the deal I think I think that’s exactly what it was because yeah it was it was reported by multi multiple Outlets that the the big thing was is the Jazz were asking for a
First round pick for Al linic they got it at that point you’re you’re looking like the Jazz are realistically just trying to stack assets yeah you I mean Kil o Lin on an expiring deal as well I mean you’re putting a jazz in the good
In good shape for the future I guess um let’s talk about that first- round draft pick though basically it’s going to be the least valuable between this is reported by ESPN is going to be the least valuable between OKC the Lakers Houston and Utah so whichever pick is
The worst in the first round between those those four teams is the pick we get correct literally one of our own picks so I’m sorry why do we trade it’s a first round draft pick still barely like I don’t but but it’s still what’s funny is the second round trick the
Second round pick is projected to be like 32 overall so you’ve got two picks in like five spots as far as the oai aaji piece that was the part I was a little surprised on what do you think yeah I mean to see oai go the fact was
Is you’ve got to trade talent for talent right Kelly o Len was the piece that they wanted oai was the reason that got the first round pick I don’t I don’t like it right it’s not my favorite thing because I I feel like this takes the Jazz it looks like they’re stepping away
From win now and and I never want to see that like I’m I’m a through and through jazz fan I want to win right now I don’t I mean I I wanted the Jazz to keep out sh just as much as the next guy did I
Mean I thought he was a tremendous young talent that I I agree I mean I think they he could have they could have given him a little bit more time but I think they gave him a shot I I think that you’ve got to you’ve got to make a
Decision and either go with it or you know make a move to continue GA gathering assets and I the Jazz obviously chose the ladder I think they didn’t really give him opportunity when he’s averaging more than 20 minutes a game he’s shooting 38% from three that’s
Which is a key stat I think that they really didn’t kind of look into a little bit more there but with the emergence of Chris done and how well he’s played and what we’re getting out of Colin ston you know when it comes to that and you also
Got JC I think you’re just going to have to show up your lineup a little bit more you’re going have to and the minutes that was going to go to him you’d like to see Ron sensal get some time in with the big with the big league I I’m
Curious to see who they have out on the floor you know it’s going to be it’s going to be completely different you know Taylor Hendricks is going to see some more minutes the Jazz freed up 60 Minutes a ball game with just trading T yeah 60 Minutes in a ball game dude
That’s insane yeah they’re gonna have to cover that somewhere so hopefully we’re going to see uh a lot more playing time for uh Taylor Hendricks um obviously kante George is gonna get more time it’s GNA be a different roster but I mean I got faith in will hardy I think he can I
Think he can continue molding into what we want to see yeah the good news is we’re getting against some time like you mentioned 60 Minutes of minutes to spread around throughout the rest of the team and I think a lot of that is going
To go to some of the rookies so we can gets to see what we have with those three what are they’re going to be the bad news is is that I do think exactly what you mentioned it before this kind of definitely shows where the Jazz’s top
Brass’s mindset really is it is stay the course they do not see enough from this team to go all in on some of these assets and trade for a player and try and make a push for the for the playoffs there they do get a playing spot great
But I don’t think the front office is going to Flinch on any of this and it’s going to like I said I know you don’t agree with me on this one I you want them to compete and get a chance every year but I do think this means at least
This is a good this is a good indication that it could be another two or three seasons before the Jazz are really even going to try and a Beat for a championship I think go Jaz I wanted to I wanted to make it run to the Western Conference playoffs this year absolutely
Let’s go for it I mean right now they’re sitting in the 10th spot right I believe still they’re just outside or just in I haven’t really looked at the standings today but yeah U but yeah so I I do think this is a basically a move that’s
Just like they did last year this is a second year in a row where they traded away contributing team contributing players on a winning team and just to kind of you know build draft assets build draft assets and let’s just hope the Jazz make it fun to watch let us

Sad that 3 solid players left but let's try to be positive and hope that Jazz will go to right direction.
Have to give the rookies playing time so they can develop. That's the difference this year, they have prospects waiting to take up that time. These trades were all about improving in the future and they kept some of the key guys that will still give them the chance to get them into the playin. Next years draft is not top heavy in talent but does have deep talent. We convey the pick to OKC and still have two decent draft picks this year. KO and Tech were not going to be a part of the long term. Ogbaji was given an opportunity. He's not a play maker and he can't hit the three. Good to see a first round pick come from him and KO. I like the moves.
How I interpret this trade deadline.
-Jazz wanna free up min to develop Hendricks
-Jazz wanna keep this years top 10 Protected pick.
-Jazz wanted assets for expiring contracts.
-Jazz are looking to be buyers next off-season, and the additional assets give us more Ammo to use. Or it just keeps the assets shelf full after a potential move is made.
Otto Porter won’t play. Already waived Knox. Got nothing back. Danny Ainge is destroying the team already.
So for Simone Fontecchio, I think the situation there was Pistons did us a favor, they have a ton of cap space next year and Simone is a restricted free agent, I think Pistons basically said they would get him in free agency because there's no way you're out bidding us so they were kinda forced to do it. It sucks because I think Simone could average 20+ ppg. I also think they got the first round pick from Raptors to try and get Dejounte Murray and Ochai just wasn't developing so I think they're thinking worst case scenario if they dont get Murray the pick has a better chance of being a better player. Just my two cents
Definitely is telling of where the Jazz front office is at on when they are wanting to compete. clearly not this off season.
