[Wolfson] On Conley extension: Mike gets full no-trade power too, I’m told.
Mike gets full no-trade power too, I’m told. Excellent value here. Mentioned on @kstp and @SKORNorth on Feb. 1 of talks picking up. Still wasn’t sure it’d get done this fast. Points to how great a marriage this is. #Timberwolves https://t.co/8QTIv6w0EY

Probably explains why the number is lower than we expected to have that guarantee for his family. Feels more and more likely he will retire a wolf.
Ok not a fan of that, but if that’s what it took
One of the last guys I’d want us to trade anyways, his experience and leadership are invaluable
I hate no trade clauses in general, but this is fine. It probably helped lower his cap hit and its hard to see a situation where he wouldn’t bring $10M of value to the Wolves each year
It’s only a 2 year deal so no biggie. If he falls off a cliff performance wise, it would only be for 1 year. And his salary is close to that of a backup point guard anyway.
No brainer. Conley has put in his time. He deserves a say where he goes as he enters the final stretch of his career.
Mike Conley isn’t a Timberwolf, Mike Conley is the Timberwolves
It’s pretty clear that Conley is at the stage of his career where he is prioritizing stability and quality of life for his family over chasing bags.
He’s closing in on 300 million in career earnings — a few million dollars does almost nothing for his relative quality of life. But uprooting his family really would impact quality of life — his family was really transparent about how hard the move to Minnesota was last year and that was when only 1 child was school-aged (they’re up to 2 kids in school now, and their youngest will be 4 this summer). Moving kids away from their friends, schools, doctors, is difficult, so staying put to likely close out his career is probably paramount.
My hope is that this allows Mike to finish out his career in Minnesota. If he then chooses to join the coaching staff… I wouldn’t complain
Time to change my flair
It’s a wonderful sight seeing players bought in on the Wolves and having a solid vet around the young guys for longer
