According to Shams, multiple players, including Spencer Dinwiddie and Mikal Bridges, have been ‘pretty vocal’ for months behind the scenes about Jacque Vaughn and the offense he was running.

    I mean it’s obvious lol.

When Ben plays our offence looks better. Not cause it’s built around Ben but cause we can run in transition. And Bens natural talent is super high so of we’re better.

The problem is as soon as Ben checks out of the game or is injured we have no offensive scheme. We spam DHOs and ISOS. I mean we’re top 5 in the fucning league in ISOs for fucks sakes.

I have no issues kind of building an offence around Ben. He is the best offensive tool on the roster. But with his injury history it is malpractice to not be prepared to pivot knowing he likely will miss a lot of games.

JV is a defensive minded coach. If we were able to perform better on that end I think this would be a different story, but the defense underperformed in addition to the offense

These reports just make JV sound incredibly dumb.

Shams on JV’s offensive gameplans: [A lot of the offense was built around Ben Simmons at the one. It was also meant to be a free-for-all offense with not a lot of structure.]

First of all, let’s base our plan around the dude that hasn’t been healthy in years, who can’t shoot a basketball and so won’t work with any lineup that doesn’t include four floor spacers. And, btw, we don’t have a floor-spacing center on the roster! So, this can’t possibly work!

Second of all, to have a “free-for-all” offense takes literal years to build and requires players with play-making skills up and down the roster. Think OKC Thunder.

Offence isn’t even the fucking problem.

It’s the dumb ass defense. The switches suck soo fucking bad.

We just get bullied on the inside. Everything is a switch and we get bodied inside.

You know it’s bad when Mikal of all people criticizes the coach

  6. TheMoorNextDoor

I told people Dinwiddie didn’t want to be here.

That man has always respected Brooklyn but this time around it’s like he knew what being around good coaching and leadership looked like (Dallas) and he was just completely over how things were ran here now in comparison to when he left, same for DFS now, he was hoping to be traded too.

The sad part about this is… they have been vocal for months… so how many losses did losing the locker room contribute to lmao

This organization is severely lacking serious and competent people.

Im not really sure how you can blame JV for this tho? Outside of ben dinwiddie was the only other true playmaker. You need to blame the front office for that

My only question is who did Mikal and/or Spencer wanted to be “The Guy”

  9. grand_insom

JV basically bragged about not calling or drawing up one play for Mikal Bridges in the preseason.

Openly said no one on this roster was good enough to isolate. (Dinwiddie is usually near the top of the league in isolation efficiency BTW)

There’s value in the pace and space offense he wanted to run but you don’t have to shit on your team in the process.

  10. JV’s whoever gets hot offense scheme was hella dumb from the beginning. I hate how Spence’s time here got him flamed by some fans. If you watched the pod he did with Pat Bev, you would know that he thrived and wanted a scheme that had some sort of hierarchy.

  11. The way the analysts cracked up about the team building around Simmons, lol.

Didn’t even know Vaughn was running an Offense besides Iso and spam 3’s.

Worst feeling about Vaughn was with 1-2 games left in the Preseason he made a comment about how they were just now going to start implementing their Offensive Sets and Schemes.

Then it was obvious they weren’t a dominant Defense.

At that point you could just wonder what they were doing all Offseason, Training Camp, and Preseason since the Players should have had a pretty good understanding of the Offense and Defense by that point.

Last season it was easy to make excuses about the coaching while trying to have 4 new Starters learn a new Offense and Defense on the fly with limited practice time during the season.

No excuse after an Offseason, Training Camp, and Preseason.

  13. Can’t wait till the interim benches Cam Thomas 😂

  14. Let’s also take shams with a grain of salt. He carries water for players entirely too much. I believe Dinwiddie is a major source for him like kyrie was. I don’t doubt the players weren’t happy but I’m not taking someone fed by Dinwiddie 10000% seriously. Maybe dinwiddie is jealous of Ben. Shams used to be woj lite now he’s a player groupie. It’s a shame actually.

Bottom line players weren’t happy but dinwiddie quit and was very obvious in his unhappiness to the point where it hurt the team and that is inexcusable

  15. Electronic-Doctor110

Scapegoat. Our roster is TRASH. Fucking Lonnie walker? Fucking DFS? These are role players with no offensive focal point. Mikals cheesy smile can’t create a shot for himself and Cam can’t defend. What coach can do anything better? And who is out there?

  16. dawnofthedunk_

Not saying JV is great or anything, but it’s going to be preeettayyyy prettayyyy funny when the team is still hot garbage and the fanbase has no one left to blame

  17. johnjohnjohn93

There was no offense lol it was Mikal or Cam running ISOs til we lost.
