[Grant Afseth] Jason Kidd told reporters Dante Exum did not practice on Tuesday and Luka Doncic remains on vacation: “Exum did not practice — right knee. Luka is on vacation. He’ll be back for practice tomorrow.”

When do we hit the panic button on a backup PG?

No need to panic, we should be fine keep him healthy and make sure he’s 100% for playoffs.

Exum initially got injured on 3rd of january, didn’t play for 3 weeks, played 2 games and got injured on the 26th again and hasn’t played since. So he played 2 games total in nearly 2 months.

Fact that he isn’t even participating in practice after nearly a full month off from his 2nd injury is very concerning.

Actually wild thing is, Exum has played 32 games with the Mavs that year, Exum has only played 32+ games in a NBA season in 4/9 of his NBA seasons. With 7/9 seasons being =<42 games.

Guess we should start preparing for the idea that he simply won’t play.

It’s almost like other teams were right about him. Sucks he can’t play and maybe he will later, but there’s always a reason behind “I can’t believe him (or her) isn’t off the market – they’re such a catch.”

  4. There is no panic button to hit, we dont have any options for a true backup PG unless you want to start playing one of the two-way guys. Dinwiddie could have filled that spot but he zagged us and went to the Lakers.

I feel like this gives Hardy the opportunity to step up and improve his playmaking. It may come to the point where we don’t even need Exum by playoff time.

I appreciate the team not feeling the need to rush Exum back. He has a lengthy history of injuries so we need to be 100% he’s ready to go, especially for the playoffs. Thank god this team is actually deep for once after the trade deadline.

I am not trying to be a downer and hope I am wrong, but this is starting to feel like the Kemba Walker thing again. He played amazing against the..Cavs I think it was? Almost carried us to a win, but his body never recovered.

Get well soon Exum, we’re much better team when you’re playing. He brings a lot of stability and error-free basketball to the Mavs.

  8. I wouldn’t panic, but I would sign Mac McClung. I think he’s better than Brandon Williams at least.
