On this one here like this is the Press tour he’s had over the past like 24 hours is got to be one of the most baffling things I think I have ever seen and there’s no like he’s going to be fine because we’ll get into that part

Actually but like this dude just needs to shut up like straight up like Doc Rivers just needs to stop talking this is not helping him there’s no reason to say any of the things that he’s saying right now he he went on some I don’t even know where the quote came from

Right went out and talked about how this job was way harder than he thought thought it was going to be now they’re three and seven in his 10 games there of course this was going to be a hard job they fired their head coach mid-season before like anyone expected that in his

First year this is a bit of a mess of a situation and he was brought in to try and stabilize it he’s not doing it as well as he would like yet there was time to figure this out like no one was going to be critical of Doc Rivers for a three

And seven start we didn’t think he’s going to lead them to a title necessarily but no one was upset about his first 10 games there I guess other than Doc Rivers and then after that he goes on on another podcast and gives an interview saying like when the Bucks

Called him to be like we want to hire you we’re going to we’re going to fire Adrian Griffin he was like no don’t do that right like that’s a bad idea why would you do something like that and then he’s like well they told me they

Already did it so then I accepted the job oh oh my goodness man like I don’t know what he’s what he’s doing here right like this is almost like he’s trying to and JJ reck ripped him for like making excuses for why the Bucks are three and seven like that’s

Definitely what he’s doing here and it’s kind of weird right like who who is he trying to make excuses to like the owners of the Bucks aren’t everybody right except like the people that he would want to make excuses to it doesn’t matter right before you and I went on

This when we kind of plan out the show here I said this right like they’re paying coach Bud they’re paying Adrien Griffin they’re now paying Doc Rivers if they fired Doc Rivers they’d be paying another guy so that’s four coaches they’re not going to do that this guy

Has ultimate job security right now it’s not not like he needs to go to the owners of the Bucks and be like oh hold on here’s actually why I’m doing bad please don’t fire me cuz they were never going to fire him because of something like that they’re paying him $10 million

A year they’re not about to eat all that money and pay four coaches is he trying to do this to people on Twitter to people like you and I because look if he’s more concerned about our opinions of him that is like your priorities are all wrong on all of

This so yeah he needs to shut up yeah okay so it’s not um it’s not new to say Doc Rivers is um is making excuses it’s kind of like a a common refrain around the NBA that doc doc will make excuses it’s never his fault but he it’s you

Know it’s always somebody else’s fault but but then when things go well like the James Harden uh deal to the Clippers he’s right there to be like yeah they called me and I told him would be would work and it it’s great so Doc’s out there trying to tr take credit for James

Harden but trying to distance himself from struggles that that are happening even though he said uh basically that uh this was this was gonna be a hard thing this was gonna be a hard like he told us at the beginning we all knew it was

Gonna be hard like you said but Doc is is instead of deflecting he’s drawing more attention to himself and what he’s doing is is making people take a look at the Bucks and go well if Doc’s already in this mode what what the hell is going on with

Milwaukee because that that’s how I take this I don’t sit there and be like well Doc’s just being doc I’m wondering like wait a second how H what what’s going on in Milwaukee that makes you already be like ah you know I can’t I can’t like take responsibility for this the in

February let’s just take a look real quick let’s forget the first couple of games let’s get into February eight games in February they have a 11.7 offensive rating and a one 12.7 defensive rating they actually the team that’s been struggling on defense is up to ninth in February over eight games in

Defense at 11.7 versus 11 15.9 so they’re a little bit better per 100 uh possessions and they’re worse offensively one 11.7 offensive rating versus 11 18.9 so their offense is really struggling and their defense is better so very easy to sit here and chalk it up if he hadn’t been

Talking I’d sit there and look at those numbers and be like minor variance defensively ticking the right way offensively you know look Dame has been struggling shooting all year long he just won the Three-Point Shootout he’s now he went to the All-Star Game and started hitting shots from half court

Maybe that’s like the weird little thing like a little boost that he needs to start hitting some shots for Milwaukee this conversation here would be like hey man you know what the I like where Dame is uh I like where you know I I think Milwaukee can figure it out and

Their defense is starting to at least point in the right direction maybe it’s not going there yet but it’s pointing in the right direction you say all right let’s let’s keep an eye on them but Doc’s already in damage control mode and you’re like well if if you’re already

Doing that then is there something going on inside that organization that makes me think maybe maybe the Bucks aren’t as serious a contender or is Doc setting up this thing so when they do turn it around he can make it look like hey look at my coaching job I I when I was

Talking before it LO it was really really bad and now my coaching job came and turned this turn this thing around that’s actually a great Point given the comments he had of like yeah the Clippers called me and I told them they should trade for James Harden it was a

Great idea right like look at me which oh man come on now dude um like that’s actually a great point maybe he’s just like manipulating the media and all of this so that you know we’ll do lock down NBA in like a month or two and be like

Doc Rivers is killing it because he walked in and that place was a disaster based on his own comments and all of a sudden now like you look at them like we know their offensive it’s been kind of a little bit Rocky at times because Dame hasn’t played particularly well this

Year for Damian Lillard right like and that’s definitely been something that’s been messing with them and the whole point of like bringing him in was like their defense wasn’t working they didn’t like the scheme they were running after Adrian Griffin came in and completely changed it so you assume doc was going

To come in and try and kind of fix that part immediately and you you pointed it out right the defense is better here so all he had to do was just like let things maybe kind of like shake out and instead he just starts talking and now

We’re all looking at him being like what is going on in Milwaukee when like we weren’t doing that NE well I mean we kind of were like they were still struggling but now it’s all of a sudden it’s like is it worse than than we thought is there something going on with

Doc like instead of this being like explainable you know one of the things I always say my day job to other people right like you don’t hit your numbers if things don’t go well like if it’s explainable and you can explain exactly what happened stuff out of your control

Right like you can kind of like you’ll be okay here and I don’t know this is like Doc Rivers instead of like pointing to the things like outside of his control is like look at all of this mess anyway yeah I I it’s off-putting it’s offputting yeah it’s offputting but look

He’s not going anywhere he signed a $40 million four-year $40 million deal to be there you don’t need to make excuses just like shut up put your head down do the work and like get things better because even if I’m on here saying the Bucks should fire him right even if

Everyone is screaming then they’re not going to they were straight up you have ultimate job security why do you need to talk and make things weird he is trying to build and I know how people are going to take this once I say it but he is trying to build a Hall

Of Fame case he’s look we can get on Doc we’ve just gotten on Doc a lot he’s got 1100 wins he’s eighth on the all-time regular season wins list he’s got a championship which not many coaches you know there’s not a ton of championships

To be won out there and like a few guys have like a bunch on their resume so uh but if he gets two championships and is top 10 all time like he’s he’s getting into the Hall of Fame as a coach hate to say it to people who are anti-d but he’s

Gonna get into the Hall of Fame as a head coach especially if he wins a second championship and and now like I wouldn’t put it past them to be building the narrative to be setting people up and be like watch this because he thinks he’s GNA take this big left turn and and

Lead this team to a title uh or or get close so I I I I don’t know I I think if he if he thinks he’s able to win a championship this year then then maybe he’s laying the seeds for the big turnaround talk and and adding to the

Narrative that he can he can like hang his hat on for for getting into the Hall but I mean that’s why he’s back here right like that’s why he’s coaching he he had a cushy gig on ESPN that he he doesn’t need to be doing this $40

The All-Star Weekend source of much consternation Chagrin people didn’t like it now I’ve come up with ideas for it you’ve probably come up with ideas for it everybody’s come up with ideas for it everybody’s heard all of the ideas for it the question Jake is real or fake is

The allstar game itself as we know it right now two teams playing each other in a basketball game is the All-Star Game actually dead I’m gonna say it’s fake I’m gonna say it’s fake I don’t think it is I think maybe the exact format they have right now might not

Work and they’re going to tweak it but if you’re looking at it in terms of two teams playing like in a basketball game like no it’s not dead they’re going to keep doing this and there’s there’s a a lot of reasons why but also I think you

Can look at like the rising stars Tournament game even if if you just had two teams playing to a Target score seems to really work and you can do that through quarters and other things too there’s ways for them to try and go about doing all of this which they’ve

Done in the past I think and I think we’ve enjoyed it before so tweaking the format I think is a way to maybe kind of ramp up some of the intensity of this keep it shorter so there’s less chance of injury like there’s a there’s a number of things you can do but

Ultimately the league still wants to do this the cities that host Allstar still want to host Allstar and it’s a way for a lot of people to make money it makes sponsors happy corporate Partners happy because of that you’re going to keep getting All-Star Weekend you’re going to

Keep getting it rotating around and you need kind of like a culminating event that people maybe aren’t buying tickets to but you give you know those corporate tickets just get given out to people people show up it’s fun and that’s that and everyone has a good time so no I

Don’t think the All-Star game’s dead I say it’s real the allstar game game as we know it is dead two teams playing each other in a game that no a t no nope a regular we’re not going to see we shouldn’t see a regular basketball game

Anymore it’s not to say we won’t see basketball being played because I also point to the rising stars and say why not my my idea is expand the rosters to 14 make four teams of seven and play uh to a Target score and have it be a tournament style thing almost like uh

Like you’re playing a full game like you play two quarters and then a full half sort of thing but you’re shortening it and there’s a chance for somebody to be eliminated and just with these guys uh being the the the thought of being eliminated is enough to get juices

Flowing to make things yeah absolutely like absolutely that’s that’s why the the the inseason tournament thing became a thing like they also the league was pushing but the league was also pushing for this game to be competitive and that didn’t happen the guys need to have like it

Needs they need to have some sort of incentive and and I think the greatest incentive is not money it’s hey if you don’t play hard in this first game you don’t get a chance to put your highlights on Instagram and show out so you know Anthony Edwards who said after

The the All-Star Game yeah I don’t think it’s ever going to be competitive well if you want to have your windmill dunk on your Instagram and you don’t get it in that first game you you better get yourself out there for a second game um either way I think

The the league has gotten to a point where too much money is involved for the players they make too much they have too much to risk players not only the teams probably don’t the I wouldn’t be surprised if the Celtics told Jaylen and Jason be like hey you know take it easy

If you you know if you can out there uh social media means that the result of the game doesn’t matter as long as you get your highlights you can put it out there on social media you’re building your brand you know and um I I just think that it’s just a different time

It’s a different we’re in a different world things don’t matter the way they used to matter and we have to accept that and if we accept that then we can get to a point where yeah you can still have a an allar showcase something in the middle of the

Season that doesn’t involved uh a a basketball game between two teams you can do it differently you can still showcase their skills you can still sell it to the sponsors but I think that what we’re what we saw over the weekend is is dead it should be dead it should be

Killed and they should go in a different direction no I mean I don’t disagree with anything that you’re saying there like I I’ve heard that idea of four teams of seven and you kind of do basically the rising stars game that format like I think that would be a lot

Of fun I think guys would get kind of up for that you see the rising stars game be competitive people trying without kind of like going a little too hard for the risk of like injury things like that look there’s there’s also things they can do like on the court right like they

Could have a softer Court to minimize some injury risk and things like that too people don’t realize like how bendable sometimes the practice courts are in like NBA facilities that are it’s like a little bit easier on their legs like you could do things like that to

Kind of mitigate some of the risk that maybe then makes these guys try a little bit harder too so I just don’t think it’s one of those things where the league is kind of like adjusted um all all that they could adjust or kind of exhausted all the options with it you

Made a really good point though in there of you know you’ve got to kind of evolve and just realize like we can’t hold things to like a past standard I think that would probably help the dunk contest too right like all of these guys are trying to kind of create you know

You heard M mclung saying like I’ve got a dunk no one’s ever seen before we don’t need that and the only reason he’s saying something like that is cuz past dunk contests have been built up so much I think that he’s like oh I got to be

New and Innovative instead of just doing some awesome stuff right and we’re comparing this current crop of players to dunk contests from the past where it’s like yeah it’s been around for a long time every kind of real cool dunk been done you’re not really going to

Come up with new stuff we need to stop doing that and I wonder if it would encourage people bigger name players better dunkers to kind of participate know that like you’re not going to like hold it against them if they’re not as good as like Dr J or Jordan or some of

Those guys right and like yeah that probably takes some of the pressure off some of these players and things like that so like trying to kind of put it I don’t know if you can do that necessarily but I think that would help things overall I heard somebody say it

It’s not mine so I can’t take credit for it but um they said dunk contest is like uh comedy it it you can hear a great joke over and over and over again but by the third fourth time you’ve heard it it’s kind of not funny anymore it’s like

Oh yeah that’s actually pretty good but you’re not laughing at it like the first time you see a dunk for the fourth fifth sixth time you’re like that’s amazing it doesn’t wow me anymore um I want that to be like a horse contest like a just again the the threat of being eliminated

Just m mclung you go first do your thing drop the ball okay if no one else can do that boom you they all get the letter d and you play to dunk and then everybody gets a shot and you know it no guarantee that certain guys are going to win but I

I I like again it’s it’s more of a competition with one another and you get the judging the the the those things out that I think if anybody’s has what’s the biggest complaint been about recent dunk contests it’s been about the judges people think Jaylen Brown’s points were

Inflated people were pissed at Dwayne Wade uh a couple years ago so get get them out of there but basically wholesale changes wholesale changes need to happen and I think the bigger picture takeaway is the league is very very different now so stop doing things like you did 30 years ago and that

Includes the All-Star Game start evolving because the league is different play to your strengths of your league and don’t like if this isn’t working don’t just bate guys into doing just change what they do and and see if that if that works so all right let’s uh maybe somebody’s changing things in

Crooked come here let me show you the you see that gets them right under the rim and joic comes up from behind and like puts a show hand on Steph’s shoulder and dunks on him and like curry curry laughs it’s like ah you got me so

It’s like a fun little haha two Bros we got you Steph kind of thing uh and of course Whenever two NBA players enjoy each other’s company this much we have to ask hey is it ever possible that these two guys could team up somewhere the future super team yic dtic the I

Don’t know what would you call those guys itchy it it Itchy and Scratchy I don’t know what it at the end not that but not not that my simpsons’s brain immediately goes to it itchy itchy and scratchy that’s good how’s that no terrible I mean I see where you’re going there C

Can you imagine those two on the same team and like the level of passing that we would see I could not I could not you know what would happen there’d be a bunch of broken noses on that team from a bunch of guys who didn’t expect passes

Things I’ll say this though right when you look at when you look at Denver they’re scheduled to be a second apron team next year you know they they can’t really add much through free agency or anything so if they want to make a splash it’s got to be by trading players

And things like that I don’t know in the future could you see a deal built around like Gordon a couple of draft picks and intriguing young guy for like Luca DOD if that’s what you had to do um you know I can see it I the second apron stuff is

Really like the the mindblowing part of it because they put so many trade rules on if you’re a second apron team um that I’m I don’t know if it’s gonna be uh a tra I can see them trying to figure out a trade like a three te somehow three te

Deal something to get donic but yeah absolutely because donic is making 43 million next year 46 the year after then he’s got a player option 2627 for 49 million so 2627 uh well Denver Denver has a whole lot of cap space right now in 40 in 2627 and joic making 59 million that

Year uh it’s there are you look that’s so far down the road that yes will you know is it possible somehow in the next couple years that they can get under that second apron and then make a trade absolutely they could um is it possible that Luca donic could get pissed off in

Dallas absolutely he can he plays for Jason Kidd he plays next to Kyrie Irving and even though playing next to Kyrie Irving is seems to be going pretty well for them so far and there’s no issue we all know that at any moment Kyrie could just have a trademark change of heart

Like Mr Burns on the pin Pals and he could make this an impossible situation so the situation that that yic is talking about if if Luca gets pissed off in Dallas entirely possible that that could happen and if it does I’m sure yic would be like hey buddy hey buddy come

On over to Denver you’ll love it here I a super team like that in Denver like what in the world are we actually talking about not La not Miami not New York but there even Chicago right like I don’t know it’s kind of kind of wild to

Think about but tells you just how much joic loves it there right like kind of an unassuming is kind of City not one of the bigger markets like jokic doesn’t want to be one of the next faces of the league he brings in Luca donic who maybe

Does it allows him to kind of H take a step back in terms of media all that like yeah it’s like a match made in heaven here and again like just to hammer the point home two guys that love to pass two guys that love to pass and it be
