Too Much Access Episode 18 – Indiana Pacers

Give him the ball Mouse in the house give him the ball I’m saying it right now that’s what I kept yelling last night Mouse in the house all right let’s cut this Drill it’s Bobby and Eddie and we are in Indianapolis Indie City baby wo no that’s no that’s Chicago is the windy city so we are we’re in Indian Indie I gave it the nickname got it Indie 500 baby that is here that is cor yes we’re big Indiana Pacers guys we’re

Here today we’re here with Miles Turner all 6’1 of them yeah coach Pargo we’re going to get a little conditioning in why do you have a ore oh I don’t know I figured there’s a paddle board around here somewhere I found this all right they gave us too much access

Born and raised in Bedford Texas Pacers Center Miles Turner was the 11th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft by the Pacers after spending one year at the University of Texas where he earned Big 12 freshman of the Year honors Turner is the longest tenard Pacer on the current

Roster averaging 17 points per game and seven rebounds per game he stands over 6′ 11 but he can also shoot the three as he is a career 35% shooter from behind the arc he credits his love for the game and the state of Indiana for the reason

That he loves to play for the Pacers here he is Miles Turner If you see you’re matched up with blank you’re like oh it’s going to be a tough night mhm there’s a couple man I mean the guys like you know like yage and Denver he’s his imprint on the game is everything

He’s can do more than to score he can score he can facilitate I mean he’s about damn near 300 lb like it’s it’s a lot to deal with and whatnot MB is the same way like even the kid Houston like sangon like he’s someone who’s very mobile and whatnot there’s a lot of

Active bigs you know nowadays it’s not just guys that are you know blocking shots and rebounding and facilitating like there’s a lot more to the game now who’s who’s your one you’re like if I see this I know it’s going to be a long night for me yeah I can’t let them know

All right that if I’m playing pick up at all I get bullied a little bit cuz I I’ll play wherever I’m Mr Hustle No skill but I get my my honors through hustle you fit in right here in Indiana can you teach me a a easy post move easy post move

When somebody’s like 3 or four inches taller than I am to really like get them off their feet or how to get around them so biggest thing for that is creating space you neutralize all length with space and whatnot so you don’t mind getting a little dirty do you I don’t

Mind put this shoulder right here just launch it through my chest that’s it back me up a little bit you’re too valuable when a stunt double don’t hurt you want to put that shoulder right in my chest it backs me up a little bit then you’re a lefty so you just want to

Throw this little hook shot that’s if I’m back that’s if I’m backing you in yeah so right shoulder right but you want to do enough to where I had to back up I’m like oh dang I didn’t know he was that strong you feel me I don’t know

That’s possible it’s a nice little here push it gets me off bounds exactly but do I pick up my dribble or no you can if you want when you when you pick up your dribble you want to get into the shot itself okay right but I can bounce into

You yeah of course you can keep doing that easy see back me up okay right was that real no he’s faking it he’s faking it thank you I appreciate that love so back you right into it flopping I’m scared of him dude’s he’s big so here one to the chest

I’m back and we’re up with it easy work oh you want to hit me there it is it might have very easily been flopped part of coaching is recognizing what your players are capable of doing so we’re going to switch this drill up ball he gives us

Popcorn to sell we’re going to pound it with one hand 18 19 switch hands 17 18 19 20 good job crossovers crossovers one 2 three uhoh Sor those sorry 7 8 9 10 pound it pound it nice twin cross all right just twing cross twing

Cross come on you got to keep up keep up let’s go nice uh-oh you lost your ball dude can we cut people you hit my ball yes can we cut coach when you’re on the bench like sometimes you got a you got a fan right behind you or like you the fans are

Right there on you in the NBA yeah do you hear crap when you’re on the road all the time or do you like to turn around and be like shut up or so you have myself I’m born and raised on the south side of Chicago and we have

Another coach uh Mo Baker who’s from St Louis and so we hear we hear every we hear everything right and we kind of let these guys the fans they’re Fanatics right we let them talk but when they start getting on our players Mo and I we

Get defensive and so we stand up we turn around we say Hey listen chill out if you want to Cher for your team cheer for a black shot and made back that’s that’s fine but when you say he miles you suck we’re not having that Mo and I kind

Of take on the challenge of shutting those guys up all right fellas we’re going to start with a little Dynamic warmup so come on over here to the sideline for me get a little bit of space this is that stretching we talked about perfect now we’re going to get a little more

Dynamic there we go there we go you’re going to go butt kick over once you get to that sideline you’re going to go back pedal on the return so we’re going butt kick over into a back pedal to the middle line or SID line sideline a Crap sounds like we got the lungs going a little bit let’s get right into the weight room here I’ll hop in a hyperic chamber sometimes but I don’t even know what that does what what does that do so hyperbaric chamber basically just puts more oxygen into your blood which then

Helps your body do the normal processes that it would do from a healing regeneration standpoint it just sort of speeds up the process a little bit so it’s for real like the thing work oh yeah I mean I get in I pay the money for it like8 bucks for the hour it is

Expensive but it’s money well spent especially if you’re really trying to you know dial in you know like you said the stretching the performance no more dial than the M no more dial than the me so if the hook shot’s not is not your

Thing we do what what I like to call it Up and Under right so hit this now come over and fake it okay you’re going up you want to step through and put it in so you get a little bit closer so I’m going deliver the fake deliv the fake

I’m out boom and you finish oh my God you got to finish Bobby come on baby you was hitting all them jumpers resistance persistance two littleit fake I’m out of here in his fin is that good this program like I like the Pacers the Pacers feel like they care I

Don’t know why I feel like that but the Pacers feel like it’s an organization that like cares about their players why do I feel like that because you’re seeing man I think that we’ve developed such an amazing culture here it’s not like this everywhere else I mean I’ve

Only been here so I’m biased of course but I hear from other fre Ag and other players that you know just taking care of something simple as taking care of a player’s family like when they come in here making sure they’re good like they go the extra mile to make sure you know

Friends and family you know wies daughters all that like are fine um even if it’s our off day like we need I don’t know bring in someone to wash our cars or something like that like it’s very first class service like everything you do here you know especially in India you

Were known lights out shooter anywhere on the court like give us a shooting tip after watching us um you can quit that’s always a good option quit while you’re down yeah yeah right it’s it’s it’s no shame does sound like very coach like but okay I got you

Listen the main thing I think you can do I think both of you guys can benefit from is just starting in you went right to the three-point line which is a it’s a tough shot for NBA players close you give yourself confidence and you work on

Your form right then you can back out and make these and then back up and then eventually work your way to the three-point shot I have a lot of self-confidence already though do you really yeah I mean I’m not good but I just I’m confident that I’m not good you

Know what I can I can see that okay I can see that let’s just make like three of them okay here we go one nice two oh am my goodness three there we go now back up a couple steps there we go right there nice let’s get to the three I

Don’t that’s not the three nope this that’s high school three oh miles I hate Legos dude like really I tell why I hate I’ll tell you why I hate them cuz I have four kids and every time I try to get to the kitchen at some point I’m going to

Step on Lego and it’s going to piss me off and I hate them okay what do you love so much about him I’m not a father yet so I haven’t I guess experienced that notion of it but my biggest thing bro is just such an escape for me

Because like I think I have a very like I’m not diagnosed but the ADHD thing and like the super like I had to be doing like three or four things at one time that’s really helped calm me down with that whenever I have like a hard day or

A hard game something like that I don’t do anything basketball I shut all that out like I don’t get on Twitter I don’t in nothing I go there I just build bro and I can be in there for hours and whether I’m just doing an actual like

Set or just freebuild it whatnot it just takes my mind off of everything people you know my people that live with me know not to bother me just like I’m just in my space in my zone and then obviously you know I’ve put out a lot of

You know my content with my work and whatnot and something that’s take a lot of pride in you know so this is what we call isometric strengthening this is how we really work on guys to be strong in certain positions can I dunk when I’m done with best you think you might be

Able to it’ll be close it’ll be close good good good good good angles back just a little bit really active foot there good that little Shake that’s what we’re looking for that’s how you know it’s working more where that came from there’s more where that came from one to

Step out one step back good nice little rhythm and just for symmetry sake we’ll go to the other side we hate symmetry we’re very anti- symmetry good good there we go there we go so you you play a bunch of years in the league at what

Point do you realize you think you want to stay in the league to coach like when did that hit you from a player when you’re like I want to continue my career in basketball but as a coach you know it happened I would probably say 2014 I was

With the uh Charlotte Bobcats and uh we were playing the Boston Celtics and Kimo Walker we were getting killed with just a pistol action what is pistol action we don’t know just a simple uh pass ahead from the one to the two and then then

The one flies off flies off it’s a it’s a different language right now one of my favorite mid-range easy Carmel Anthony is a master of this just a jab series you got a defender on you this Jabs my biggest thing is you want to make it actually look like you’re going

Somewhere some people just kind of play along you want to really deliver a jab like over exaggerate your shoulders a little bit jab just put it up how did his go in uh-huh is that it uh-huh like that b yeah yeah that’s believable there we go boys there we go

Boys let’s try the easiest three-point shot in the game right from the corner that’s the easy one same way every time right left buuck it now you supposed to do your move you do your move first and then you miss that’s that’s backwards coach good job appreciate you yes sir anybody can go

Hard for 30 seconds for 60 seconds but to be able to go hard for a 48 minute game is a completely different animal since we got both of you going we’re going to have a little competition so we’re going to go Max calories in 30 seconds here we go here we

Go we got a tight race we got a tight race 4 four 15 seconds left finish strong finish strong home stretch here we go five 4 3 2 1 we’re done 2019 we have a winner let’s go baby hey that’s how we did it heading the NBA

Good job fellas good job good job good job well done thank you I want you to try to block my shot okay like you’re just playing D I’m going to use my one my little tricks I learned from you and we’ll see if it works okay

Bet that was going to be the one he hit too yeah I didn’t have a shot let’s be honest might as well appreciate you absolutely man much love for real appreciate that appreciate y’all boys man good day thanks miles what’s up y’all it’s Miles Turner here at the

Indiana Pacers you’re watching too much access we love the Pacers what a culture they have here uh thank you everybody in Indie thank you Pacers thank why do you have a volleyball wow I almost made that anyway big Pacers guys thank you guys you gave us too much access for you coach

  1. Myles Turner seems like such a chill guy. I remember in an interview a reporter mentioned how he liked to play with legos and he corrected them, saying that he built legos. He wasn't kidding! His pixel photo and statue of himself as Darth Vader are insane!

  2. Hey Myles, can I come build some Lego sets with you? Also, I’ve never played basketball, outside of at recess in school, but I think I’m going to try and walk on next year because of how much yall hyped up the positive culture there haha
