Kuminga details his conversation with Kerr to Fischer: “I just told him how I feel, he told me how he feels…He felt like I wasn’t locked in. He told me, ‘I need you to do the small things that will help our team’…Locking in even more. It’s not the haircut. I had a mindset that was already set”

Nephews will say it was the heart to heart with Kerr. But only the real ones know it was the haircut holding back Tha Copter 😂
If Kuminga becomes a warrior superstar, future fans will always debate whether Kerr benching him for a good amount of minutes early in his career contributed to his rise.
Some will say the strictness tightened his game. Others will say it’s your regular Steve gaslighting.
And I call it Kerr’s Schrodinger lmao.
Money, it’s HAS to be the haircut!
“It’s not the haircut, it’s the mindset” is a pretty good line
I wish he held our older players to the same standards he holds the young ones to.
“I need you to make up for how many minutes I play klay”.
Love JK and this honesty and maturity and talent – each of them top notch.
“Its not the haircut”

It was definitely the Aircut
Great stuff
So is he cool with Kerr or nah?
I hope we can all settle the Kerr cant coach young talent BS. Anyone with coaching experience knows you ride the most talented kids/people the hardest because your expectations of them are the highest. JK says as much in this. Coach/player relationships are a balance between indulging and restricting. Give and take the whole way. Kerr couldn’t just let JK fly when he wasn’t learning or adapting to the team’s system. He did have to prove it over and over to staff and team that he would play their game. Also it’s not just a game to game set of decisions, Kerr and the org have to think long term on how JK’s development can help them win chips for the next decade. These are big decisions. Since JK has become a rising star id say it seems like Kerr and staff have so far played it right without sacrificing too much in the meantime by riding JK hard.
Steve Kerr I was not familiar with your game
Kerr is a great coach, especially for players. Kuminga’s lack of attention was a huge problem none of you “fans” would even entertain. Glad we have a coach to call it how it is to set our players straight. Dray, Klay, and Kuminga all had the Kerr talk.
Dray locked in, Klay accepted his new role, Kuminga locked in. Love what Kerr does for our team.
That haircut helped tho loll
Love this from kuminga. I posted in another thread that I was at the Miami heat game right after Christmas and Kuminga almost single handedly lost us that game with how careless he was. I think he had like 4 turnovers in the span of 2 minutes and it was clear watching that it caused heat to go on a run and deflated our energy.
Same thing happened in the kings series last year when he wouldn’t fight for rebounds and his intensity was not at a playoff level.
Without these benchings who knows if kuminga would be as good as he is now. I see him playing hard all the time now. Different player.
That’s my pookie bear💕
And people wanted Kerr fired. SMH
Idk, I’m loving Metta World Peace Kuminga and his newfound aggression on the court.
No, it was always the haircut.
Great – now what does Moody need do so he can also play good minutes or is this going to be his last year with the Dubs given that Podz and LQ seem to be above him in Kerr’s rotation choices?
Or maybe, just maybe, Moody is the “James Bond” of the warriors, our secret weapon being groomed by Kerr!
For sure, it’s been refreshing to see JK not wandering aimlessly out there any longer. Also, he’s realized he has to make a decision and go with it when he gets the ball. He seemed hesitant in the past.
All of this and the dude is still only 21 years old. He’ll be so ready soon!
I love that he had to clarify it’s not the haircut.
