We Should Talk about the Minnesota Timberwolves more (NBA)

So in this video I talk about how the Minnesota Timberwolves really haven’t gotten that much attention from the national media as in terms of like day-to-day stuff and I’m making this intro to the video because I’m making this at around the same time that the Minnesota Timberwolves are getting all

Access a whole day on ESPN where like people from the Timberwolves are like talking and being interviewed and stuff like that while this is a great step I’m going to still release this video because I feel like a lot of what I talk about still applies so shout out to ESPN

For giving the Timberwolves the all access treatment that they deserve and have earned over the season but I think that a lot of my points from this video will still stand and were definitely relevant before this all access and I think are still relevant in the National

Media scale after the all access I just wanted to put out the disclaimer of me being like the timing of this knowing that they’re getting all access but I still think that the Minnesota Timberwolves deserve more attention and more respect all right let’s get to the

Video so my first draft of the this video was to talk about the Timberwolf salary cap situation and I did that for about like 15 minutes but then when I was going to uh upload it or whatnot I realized that like I don’t think the Tims get as much respect as they deserve

The season that they’ve had this year and I know that a lot of it attributes to like past playoff failures and we’ll get to that I’ll talk about the salary cap stuff later or I’ll just add it from like the last video and put it in here I

Ends this year and then uh Jordan mclin I might be messing that name up Jordan McLaughlin mlin mlin um his contract’s up this year and then you have Kyle Anderson is like a point forward style uh his contracts up this year as well so that was really huge this team is like

Really talented they’re fun and they lock up defensively I know that a lot of people are like the NBA doesn’t play defense anymore whatever watch the timberwol Wes watch Rudy gobear dominate the paint on defense watch Anthony Edwards watch jadeen McDaniels lock up watch towns make a defensive effort like

The effort that tals has made this year has changed it’s interesting and then you get nikil Alexander Walker for 4 million which is dope and then you have nazri which is like universally loved by everyone nazri is one of the fun players where it’s like he’s a meme player

That’s also very good you know what I’m saying where it’s like I’m not comparing him to Deli but like you know how Deli was a meme but they were like okay he’s going to be out of the league in like a year I don’t know where I’m going with

This all I’m saying is that Naas Reed is a likable meme player very freaking good I think he would start on most any other team I would have him on the Pistons tomorrow if I could but again there are instances where uh the national media has been really not taking the

Timberwolves seriously whether it’s the NBA on TNT not really taking cat and goar seriously uh whether it’s uh Tim legler I think I’m going to put this up here in post Tim legler having his like top five contenders and like the Timberwolves aren’t listed there at all

Or you know when first take does their usual who’s most likely to win a championship uh between the Warriors and the Lakers two playin teams but that’s going to be a whole First Take segment I understand Minnesota Timberwood fans being upset about the lack of coverage because this is the best team that

You’re you’ve had in a while and this might be the best team you ever go have for like a couple of decades because this is a stars aligning thing you know getting cat getting goar getting Anthony Edwards on a Anthony Edwards is still in his rookie deal I think Jaden McDaniels

Is really cheap like this might be the best time that all of these people will be together it’s like an ensemble movie of like all of these casting characters but like you’re getting them before they were famous you’re getting some people before they were famous and then by the

Time their actors contracts so by the time they have make their big break they might be too big to do these movies or whatnot I don’t know what I’m talking about with this all I’m saying is that the timber situation reminds me of the Denver Nugget situation a little bit in

In the fact that the Denver Nuggets were really discounted last year as a number one seed like no one was taking this Denver Nuggets team seriously and it was just an absolute Joy seeing the national media do a wild overcorrect because they hadn’t covered Denver all year seriously

They were things where it’s like is Denver the most unserious number one seed or whatever and they were talking about all these other teams whether it was like uh the Warriors the Lakers you know you you hear about the Lakers all the time and now the Lakers did make the

Western Conference Finals don’t get me wrong when the national media only talks about those teams don’t you remember when Stephen A Smith uh on first take got on his knees and was like Anthony Davis please uh be good I don’t want to spend the finals in Denver again for

To the video I hate that the NBA media it feels like the NBA media I can’t I don’t remember I might be misremembering this but I don’t remember the NFL talking about their cities like this like I’ve never heard the NFL be like oh no Green Bay like Green Bay is like a

Hollowed ground it’s like it’s like a great air like it’s history you know and I feel like when the NBA media talks about like I don’t want to go here I don’t want to go there well guess what it’s in the league the NBA media has a

Weird session with New York La Miami all of the nice weather bigger Market cities and that’s why I really hope that the Timberwolves pull a Denver last year just embarrassing the national media landscape and I’m talking about scorched Earth and I’m not talking about the national media landscape as like

Everyone here is disrespecting the Timberwolves I’m not saying that what I’m saying is that you know the timber WS just get overlooked because of their past playoff history you know losing in the first around a lot historically I think there’s a factor of Carl Anthony towns you know cuz you know we all

Remember okay I’m going to I’m going to backtrack there are a lot of times where I don’t want to generalize but I don’t want to generalize I’m just going to say what it feels like often it always felt like for a while if there was an important basketball game that

Carl Anthony was going to get in foul trouble that’s what it felt like I’m not saying that that’s what happened it’s what it felt like and when something is what it feels like it’s easy to go with that narrative being like Carl Anthony Town shrinks in the spotlight whatever

It’s easy to come up with those narratives after a couple of bad games or whatnot I’m out here hoping that timber wolves dispel those narratives and I really think that Anthony Edwards and Rudy goar even though Rudy goar is like one of the most disliked players

Because of you know he’s Rudy goar and I got to apologize I got to apologize for the Rudy go bear trade I thought it was a stupid trade at the time because I think it’s just I thought it drove the price up so high for any other player

Getting traded like Kevin Durant thought the market was so high I was like oh my God Kevin Durant I thought that Kevin Durant was never getting traded after that trade I was like R go bear for that price imagine what you’re going to have to trade for Kevin Durant you know

That’s what I thought but the trade has worked out well I know that Rudy and towns had their struggles last year but they’ve really fixed it this this season and if any fan base deserves a champion ionship it’s the Timberwolves man you want to see how they celebrated making

The play in last year where Patrick Beverly got like meaned into Oblivion but that’s a Minnesota team they’ve watched a lot of bad basketball in their lifetime they’ve watched their franchise whiff on certain players whether it’s drafting um Johnny Flynn or Derek Williams or Wesley Johnson etc etc I

Remember when they had the worst team in 2K when they were ranked like 30th in every capacity where they were starting pek in love I think what sucks is that even though you’re a smaller Market that’s like really good in the regular season a lot of these media sites and

Shows won’t pay attention to you unless you do it on the big stage that’s what the NBA media landscape is now is you have to make them look foolish to get their attention and I don’t like how that is and I’m not saying that the

Entire NBA media but if you go on your if you go on your favorite sport shows on either ESPN or Fox Sports you’re not going to hear about the Timberwolves that often cuz if you even if you do hear about the Tim wvs it’s going to be in conjunction with like the Warriors

And the Lakers and you know they’re going to make it about LeBron because they haven’t been paying attention to Minnesota they haven’t been paying attention to your team they haven’t been paying attention to a lot of NBA teams it’s National TV show you can only watch

So many games and read so many box scores and stuff and I know that respect is earned not given but at least when a team is good you got to give credit when credit is due at the time I feel like right I feel like that’s true now

Another reason why this is a big year for the Timberwolves in terms of gaining respect it’s also a big year in terms of what they’re going to do with how expensive they are or they will be sorry uh Anthony Edward’s extension kicks in next year so does McDaniel’s extension

Um Carl Anthony towns contract is not getting any cheaper a lot of Carl Anthony towns talk has there’s been a part that has been like look how good he’s been playing this year um alongside goar and and words but there’s another half that’s like is Carl Anthony towns

Getting traded like the second apron uh penalties are way more than the first apron penalties obviously then if the Timberwolves get into the playoffs and like squander it like they lose in the first or second round then the Timberwolves have a big decision to make if they keep this team together if this

Minnesota team falls short like short short not like losing in the finals I think that that’s fine um if they fall in the first or second round I think that it’s going to be one of the most interesting off off seasons for them in

A long time and I think that it will be a case study for all of us NBA fans that really haven’t seen that many teams be affected by uh the new CBA I can’t really recall if the Denver Nuggets were affected by the new CBA even if they did

They only got rid of like Bruce Brown and Jeff Green I think there might be more I might put that in post and the Timberwolves what’s interesting is that when they made the gobear trade that was a year before the new CBA got ratified so right so now the Timberwolves are

Dealing with repercussions of something that was unknown when they made the go bear trade and I’m really interested to see what Tim Connelly will do in the front office because I think him getting Mike Connelly for that price is a really good bargain especially for what he

Brings to the table and what he brings to the Timberwolves yeah I’m really interested when all of these extensions and kick in and the Timberwolves maybe have like n or players locked up but only like so much room until they hit the second apron and then they have to

Like maybe sign just all minimum guys or something again I will say this contracts and salary cap talks and luxury tax talks are very dizzying to me like it’s a lot of math and it’s just a lot of just like a lot of basketball business jargon that I don’t understand

And I’m going to say that I don’t I’m not an expert on it and I won’t pretend to be I just think that it’s going to be a fascinating learning experience for all of us us and all of our fandoms to see a team that is this good in

Contention with this new CBA I think that that’s going to be a really interesting thing to see and witness but for now I am really rooting for the Minnesota Timberwolves to make it far because Timberwolves fans deserve this getting a gem and Anthony Edwards in the

Draft is sick like I’m really happy for you guys carony towns even if you trade even if you trade Carl Anthony towns there are not many players in the league I think that can do what he does I think that car Anthony towns when he says that

He’s the best shooting big man of all time statistically he has a case and a lot of people were like no it’s Durk you know they always do the yes but statistically Carl Anthony towns can look at anyone’s body of work in the NBA

And be like I have a case to be the best shooting big man and car Anthony towns doesn’t get respect because he gets like memd all the time and whatnot and then Rudy gobear doesn’t get respect this teams front Court being towns and goar the fact that they’ve been memd into

Oblivion on and off the court by a lot of people myself included like when Talons dropped 62 points and then they lost the game and like blew the lead against the Hornets I was like dude this is the most bizarrest 62-point game I’ve ever seen and I know that that’s being

Really specific but this is the most bizarre like this dude’s on fire and then you like look in the second half and you’re like what happened and then there’s Rudy gobear getting choked out by Draymond Green there were tweets that were like you know how unlikable you

Have to be I’m talking my Draymond Green you know how unlikable you have to be in this situation for me to actually support Rudy gobear there were a lot of tweets like that as well so I think that having those two on the team makes a lot

Of General fans not take this team serious because they don’t want to see them win and as a reformed gobear hater I’m neutral to gobear now I would be fine with seeing him win a ring because that means that Anthony Edwards and Carl Anthony towns one O ring and the fact

That cat stayed with the timber BS for this long and been through like all of it all of it like drafting LaVine and Wiggins and then having them leave and seeing them become all stars that K that couldn’t have been fun um staying through it all like the timber fans if

They win I’d be like yeah you guys deserve it you guys talk your talk your mess man and yeah I was on Timberwood Reddit seeing all the evidences of disrespect and all of that throughout and I just hope that this doesn’t end in another first round exit or a playoff

Collapse because I think this is the best Timberwood team I’ve seen in a while and with how the CBA is built this is probably the best chance in terms of stars aligning this is probably the best chance and best roster and I think that that’s what the new NBA is is not about

Building dynasties like the Warriors that like it’s about can you make all the stars align perfectly to get into the the smaller Championship Windows now and I think the Timberwolves can do it and I really hope that they do because I like to see the national NBA media get

Embarrassed and struggle and be flustered I love the chaos and there’s nothing better than seeing the NBA media like scramble to find stories and fine narratives of a team that they have been ignoring for the last 4 months there’s nothing better than that seeing Denver that happened in Denver and people were
