OKC are a great team, so them coming back then running away isn’t surprising. Can only try and slow down SGA and Chet went crazy in the 2nd half.

Sengun had a bad game, but it was still interesting to see us start to cut into the lead in the 4th as soon as he came back in. We know he is good even if he’s been rough this recent stretch, and that gravity just makes everything easier for the others. Amen is a defensive monster already, wished he got more minutes. Jabari also had a really good game as well, good 2-way play and was a monster on the boards.

Dillon was good from 3 tonight but I got really annoyed when he backed down his guy and then went for the turnaround fadeaway like he’s Kobe. Offensively Memphis Dillon is not what anyone wants to see.

Rough game, but we can only continue to develop.

Need Jalen and Sengun to show up big next time we play them.

  3. We had it and let it get away in the 4th. Onto this brutal stretch. Flashes and signs still.

We were one pick away from Chet but also one pick away from Scoot, so I guess. Lol

We gotta poach OKC’s shooting coach. How do they have so many amazing shooters? Dort was a awkward backpack 3 point shooter his rookie year and now he’s shooting 40%

  5. Not ideal. Unfortunately, OKC are a very solid team and have even more to gain out of beating us than they do other teams. Hate to see it 😔

  6. Impossible-Contact40

this shit isnt new whenever sengun gets into foul trouble early he just doesnt play good but fucked up thing is every game he has 2 bullshit fouls called on him

Thunder are significantly better so I expected a loss but FUCK did we squander it when we had a chance to go for the kill…

Hope Şengün stops slumping soon and Jalen starts piecing things together. I was very impressed by Jabari and Amen, though. Cam was also great early on until he cooled off. Painful loss, but it was to a good team.

Missed opportunity after a great start, GSW lost today and we could be closer (yes I’m still hoping for play-ins, am a dreamer)…

Same elephant in the room and everybody watches it…

No excuse for losses but refs disrespected Rockets too much this year…

  9. Amacore99

Fred was so fucking bad this game and whoever is giving the greenlight to shoot this many 3s as dogshit shooting team needs to be fired

Unpopular opinion but I hope we don’t max Sengun. Unless we get Alex Sarr to cover Senguns deficiencies then it’s a different story but he’s simply too small to play the 5 and he gets cooked on defense. I don’t see any path for him to be viable in the playoffs when there’s Chet and Wembanyama in our conference.

Man I can’t wait to see them with Adams or something. They need some kind of real rim threat. That is just not the best place on the floor for sengun.

OKC has a guy & we do not. It’s as simple as that. I truly believe we do not have a guy who can be a “1” on a playoff team, much less a championship team. When you have a guy, it makes everyone else on the team better. When you don’t, everyone’s flaws are glaring.

  13. Sengun starts slow = we don’t have a chance to win. Our shooting was not sustainable. Something is wrong with Sengun. Hate harping on him, but that comes with the territory if you are the best player. He’s gotta show up early like he did the first quarter of the season.

I think the rotations need to be fixed to help everyone, bring Cam off the bench first for JG to give us a good set shooter for sengun, then when sengun sits bring on Amen/JG/Cam/Jeff Green/ Bari and let’s push the pace with a smaller lineup. Our defense is fine we really look good on offense when we get turnovers, push the pace, and get easy baskets.

I’m sorry if this is off topic, but does anyone else feel like their mental health deteriorates from spending time in this sub particularly with the game threads? Like a loss sucks, but on my own it feels like it’s usually no big deal just an inconvenience and I can still find things worth appreciating despite the final score.  But when I go through the game threads in a loss it feels like my night is absolutely ruined.

Edit: whichever assholes downvoted me, just comment telling me that you want me to be miserable rather than just being a pussy hiding behind the damn downvote button

need to trade any asset that has value this off season/next season and try to get a #1. none of these guys (sorry sengun lovers) look like they are going to be that guy. i struggle to see a majority being the #2.

  17. Th3_Paradox

Well…at least we kicked the Suns ass the other day tho!

  18. lambopanda

Looking at boxscore. Wait Gordon Hayward? Didn’t even realize he’s in the game. 0 pts no wonder.

Such a weird game yet again. I thought we’d get clobbered tonight but this would be a pretty competitive game, except everyone just seemed to be in a funky mood except Amen and Jabari.

Here’s the dilemma with Sengun – we absolutely can’t win without him driving the offense, and whenever he’s not on the floor our offense is junk. When he fouls early, you have a dilemma if you think the game will be close: You absolutely need him in the last stretch because he’s consistently amazing there (might be one of the best players in the clutch in the league actually), so you have to take him off the floor, which means you will have to tolerate a stagnant offense as long as you can. Ties back to lots of issues that we’ve talked about a gazillion times – desperate need for a good back-up, lack of depth in the roster, etc etc. We just can’t afford Sengun having an off night which is problematic since he still needs to grow mentally along with the rest of the team. Also needs to learn to play defense without fouling, not turn his back to the game, etc etc.

Dillon has been off for a few games now. Not sure what’s going on but not watching him a ton tbh. Just seems out of it lately and checked out.

Jalen Green had an OK game – the problem is his acceptable game is still not great, and kind of equivalent to a bad game from Al-P. Lots of dumb moves again. There’s no improvement in his basketball IQ and he seems to be stuck in a perennial first round pick raw prospect playing his first year of NBA basketball state. We are wasting minutes on him while Cam is showing signs on brilliance but makes a ton of rookie mistakes so needs a lot of polishing, Jabari needs more minutes to develop, Amen definitely needs to start, etc. Just not playing at a level that warrants the minutes he’s getting. My sense is his minutes will start fading, and he will either need to accept coming off the bench this offseason with a much smaller contract or get traded. Just not enough opportunities to grow all the young talent we have and he’s had more than his fair share of chances here.

Overall, I think we are accepting too much from a more junior team – all the signs point to a team that still has to develop a lot of mental fortitude. The away vs home discrepancy, Al-P getting cold after he got into foul trouble and in general hanging his head down too fast and somehow fading away lately which can’t be anything but mental unless he has an injury we don’t know about, JG not being able to slow down even a nick and be more patient and take a split second to think about what he’s doing, Cam giving us a whiplash of a performance when he’s on the floor, etc etc. A lot of this feels frustrating because we are frequently too close to being a lot better – but keep up hope, we have a bunch of good talent, we will be a lot better next year 🙂
