Major Details REVEALED Raptors Future – NEW Update With Serious Impact on Raptors | Raptors News

We have some major updates regarding the future of multiple different Toronto Raptors so we’ll discuss how it impacts the team going forward and how it change light on terms of what’s going to happen in this year’s free agency additionally we have a major update in the Eastern Conference that does have a significant

Impact on the Toronto Raptors and their current goals for this season so lots of stuff to break down but before we do folks again over 55% of our viewers are not subscribed to the channel and we want to keep you up to date with all of the latest Toronto Raptors news and we

Missed the last two three days there in terms of uploads my apologies on that more flights getting cancelled delayed and just a lot of stuff going on but we’re back we’re ready to roll deliver the regularly scheduled content so let’s dive into what’s been going on so we

Have an update regarding the Toronto Raptors future you know and three players in terms of what they could expect in terms of their future contracts and stuff so basically Doug Smith from the Toronto Star was asked about the impending free agents you know upcoming this summer and this was a big

Topic of conversation for the Toronto Raptor this entire year now it was more notable when the three free agents the main free agents the Raptors had were Pascal cakam ogan anobi and Gary Trent Jr but now while we traded away Pascal we trade away OG we have a different set

Of free agents now following this year’s trade deadline a different look roster but we have some updates in terms of what we can expect in terms of how this team will look in the future so basically Doug Smith said he’s 100% sure that Kelly o linck and Emanuel quickley

Have deals in place the question is about Gary Trent Jr and it’s going to be the cost the number of years and whether others are able to do what he does at a lower salary I don’t get any read on how either side feels about that right now

So interesting stuff there now we’ve already seen news we’ve already seen things come out regarding Kelly oin and how it’s expected in the next couple weeks that we might have an extension incoming you know prior to the off season for Kelly o Len will be locked

Into this team for a longer term you know maybe not like four four year 5year deal but a 2-year threeyear contract with the Toronto Raptors to have him as a steady vet that spaces the floor for this team moving into the future so I don’t want to dive too much into Kelly

Lin we’ve discussed him a bunch since this year’s trade deadline but the two interesting pieces are obviously Emanual quickly as well as Gary Trent Jr now I’ll talk about IQ first because again he’s been the guy handed the Reigns the new Toronto Raptor’s upand cominging point guard when the trade happened he

Looked like he was the centerpiece in terms of what was the return in that OG and an OB deal even though RJ Barrett is arguably a lot better for the Toronto Raptors but I think both pieces are awesome young prospects to have for this team long term but Emanuel quickley

Obviously is a guy that we’ve seen the reports especially for the New York Knicks there’s expect expectations he’s going to get around a 20 to 25 maybe a little bit higher annual salary in his upcoming contract so 25 plus million for Emanuel quickley is something that again

Iq’s been good he’s been a nice piece a nice acquisition for the Toronto Raptors he’s had some highs he’s had some lows in terms of games you know I wouldn’t call him super inconsistent or anything but you know shooting guards you know shoot first or players that their

Offense is drawn in by uh shooting some buckets right they’re they’re going to have some highs and lows over the course of their careers and games especially where IQ is younger but looking at his stats I mean he’s a guy that’s only 24 years old 63 been a very sneaky good Defender for

The Toronto Raptors as well it’s something I like to see but for this season you know averaging 16 3 and three you know 43% from the field 41% behind the three-point line and those numbers have only gone up since he’s joined the Toronto Raptors if you look at his stats

As a Toronto Raptor the points didn’t take the crazy jump that some people were hoping you know only 177 points per game which is still really really solid but averaging six assists per night the rebounds have gone up you know it’s opportunity not playing behind Jaylen

Brunson it makes sense for a stats to increase and then the three-point shooting which is you know the just efficiency you know especially uh from behind the three-point line 43% that shot has increased with an elevated number of attempts so that’s a positive thing to there overall his efficiency

Has decreased he hasn’t been able to get to the rim finish around the basket as well as he did in New York so overall he’s become a little bit less efficient with an extended role but as he said in different interviews obviously getting handed the Reigns to a new team that’s

In a very transitional period right now as a young guard there’s going to be learning curves there’s going to be learning steps but the big picture stuff for Emanuel quickly being the point guard for this team he’s still scoring even if it’s a little bit less efficient he’s facilitating at that point guard

Spot he’s going to pick him rolls while he’s hitting some nice passes out there from the it test and he’s still able to knock down that three at a high clip like his jump shot didn’t disappear with an elevated roll I’m confident all the other things will fall into place pretty

Well so IQ since being on the Toronto Raptors has shown enough to me to be warranted you know a 25 plus million doll contract you if we’re going over 30 then that might be something to turn your head on and say okay maybe that’s a little bit too much depending on length

As well and how that thing’s going to shake out but I’m not too worried about giving Emanuel quickly a significant contract for the future now what about Gary Trent Jr because Gary Tren Jr is one of the more polarizing players for the Toronto raps I mean the star boy

He’s had an interesting season this year that’s the really the only way to describe his season because overall he has certainly regressed he’s certainly taken a step back I mean Gary Trent Jr at 25 years old is now a only averaging 12 points per game two rebounds 1.5

Assists but he is shooting 42% from behind the three-point line had a ridiculous sort of percentage during January and is a guy that again can get you buckets in terms of uh deep shots midies and just be you know a very inconsistent sort of uh you know bucket

Getter for the Toronto Raptors overall this season you can see how is just o everything sort of dipped or well it’s below his career average he took a significant dip I believe he was uh scoring about 17 18 points per game last season so that’s a significant jump and

The Vance stats really don’t like Gary this year especially you know value over replacement player it’s down in the negatives you know his box plus minus offensive defensive overall is just not looking too too good there you know not a lot of win sheares just not a lot of

Uh positives in the advanced numbers for Gary Trent JR this season even though his three-point percentage has been pretty solid his overall true shooting hasn’t been that great so you pair that alongside he hasn’t taken that leap that we’re all hoping from him defensively you know those offseason sort of

Instagram post saying how he wants to be a defensive player of the year heck even a couple years ago when he was asked to take a step up on the defensive end and he did you know he did show off a guy that got a lot of deflections that was

Quick in the passing Lanes got steals that energy that motivation on that end of the floor I don’t want to say motivation is bad but he hasn’t been as effective on the defensive end for the Toronto Raptors this year so when you’re talking contracts and really we haven’t

Heard about any particular numbers for Gary Trent Jr over this entire season the only thing we can point back to is what was being discussed last season people were talking about around $20 million per year for Gary Trent Jr I mean for a young shooter that had some

Potential in the defensive end that was on seemingly an upward trajectory that seemed like a reasonable enough contract it’s a lot but reasonable but after his performance this year really taking a step back rather than a step forward you know just even though he’s knocking down his threes at a pretty efficient clip

His scoring overall hasn’t been that great he hasn’t improved his finishing around the rim you know he’s not getting as many from the mid-range area you know his overall scoring ability just hasn’t taken that jump he hasn’t improved as a passer especially where the Raptors are now looking to have a system where

They’re swinging the ball they’re sort of uh you know making the right play making the right pass Gary hasn’t taken that leap so if we’re going to be paying a significant contract and you know last season apparently extension was imminent according to Chris Haynes right it’s questionable to see what the Raptors be

Willing to offer I don’t think they’d be willing to offer the $20 million per year I think especially with the merg of Grady dick and how well he’s been playing as of late I don’t think uh Gary Trent Jr getting a huge bag especially long term makes a whole ton of sense for

This team but who really knows he is a guy that has a very strong NBA skill you know shooting the basketball he’s a guy that has shown promise on the defense event in the past I’m not a guy that’s saying hey we should shove Gary out the

Door but I’m also not a player a guy that’s super eager to give him a boatload of money so we’ll see how it all shakes out again it doesn’t seem like anyone knows what’s going on with this situation there has been no updates on either side what the other side is

Looking for so don’t be surprised if Gary’s the guy that walk IQ is the guy that stays and Kell link also gets extended for this season so that’s some major updates regarding the players on this team but we also have a major update in the Eastern Conference because

The Raptors sneakily have gotten a couple wins as of late they’ve gotten a couple big sort of W’s again traveling and stuff the past couple days have been a nightmare for me I missed the specific games but watched the highlights of course saw the box scores and things and the Trona rap

They getting a couple W’s you know they’ve been getting a couple wins and we’ve heard basically darkar ovich come out and say that the tonal Raptors are playing to win they uh want to get experience in the play in tournament and also talked about getting better every

Single day which I’d say is a more of attainable goal so the Raptors are in a weird spot in the Eastern Conference right now I mean we’re about what behind the Atlanta Hawks three and a half games so nothing drastic nothing that’s unsurmountable you know in the Eastern

Conference and stuff like that so people are saying we should just bot him out given the Raptor’s current positioning and then maximize our odds of getting into the top six and not trading away our Spurs pick but however that shakes out however that sort of goes the

Raptors seem focus on winning they don’t want to throw away the second half of the season they don’t want to waste a development near at Scotty Barnes gry dick just throwing games throwing in the towel and the Raptors there the Nets and the Hawks who they got their wins

Against so nothing too too crazy nothing to really just get amped up about about something crazy about to happen but we have an update because the Atlanta Hawks Allstar Trey young is undergoing surgery to repair a ligament here in his fifth finger in his left hand which will be

Reevaluated in four weeks so as you can see in the standings the Atlanta Hawks are really the team the Toronto Raptors have to catch if they want to enter the play in tournament they’re the most realistic team that the team could be able to catch so if Trey Young’s out

Again they have Deonte Murray they’re an interesting Squad they’ve lost some games themselves hex they lost to us without Trey young there could be a path there could be an opportunity for the Toronto Raptors to enter that playin tournament make a push to win some meaningful games get better every day

And actually you know achieve a playin sort of status now I know a lot of people been throwing out the quote from saer a couple years ago play in for what all that type of stuff but I do like the attitude not trying to lose trying to

Win games do I think it’s surmountable do I think we could probably catch him I have no idea this team looks really good some nights really bad some others that’s usually the case with younger teams and if we get closer closer to the end of the the season and the playin

Does seem unsurmountable I do think it does make sense to maybe tank away you know the month of April or something to ensure we’re below the Brooklyn Nets to maybe even catch the Memphis Grizzlies to really maximize our potential of keeping that pick because that pick would be immensely valuable for this

Team for the future and then make some moves in the offseason that makes this roster make a bit more sense and then really push to win some games next year but I don’t mind the team competing in March especially with the Hawks probably going to be losing some games in the

Future here now at this point again watching the games you know I missed the last couple but I’m still rooting for this team to win I’ll never root against the Toronto Raptors but that’s sort of what I’m seeing that’s how I’m feeling about this squad but let me know what

  1. It was clear when bobby said theyre still evaluating gary.. hes the odd one out of the young guys

  2. Great player but GTJ is only playing to secure money and he’s back to doing nothing… he’s got to go.,, he only plays hard when it’s close to contract time… bye bye gtj! Go swindle another team pls

  3. With the emergence of Gradey, the writing is on the wall. Just doesn’t seem like there is space on this squad for gary

  4. This Free Agency is interesting, Melton and Jalen Smith are FAs letting GTJ walk packaging BB,Boucher, McDaniels to free space and Offer Melton , Jsmith

  5. K O contract helps total cap Management. Hopefully IQ can sign start under $25 and finish 4 years above. 23, 24, 25 & 26.
If GTJ wants to stay? 3 years with third player option $ 14, 15, 16.
We need to target Jalen Smith same kind of money as Gary but 4 years. He can be our small C or as much as starting PF if you want SB at SF.

  6. Getting into the play in just screams Raptors vs Indiana for pascal to get his last laugh at our expense just like Demar did. That’s just so fitting as Raptors fans.

  7. The same Doug Smith who said Boucher mostly likely will be traded just before the deadline. Smith is a clumsy fool who is often wrong. IQ getting signed is a no brainer

  8. Hi Ben with all due respect, GTJ is an asset for the Raptors. He has made clutch shots at key moments in games. He’s a pure 3-point shooter and makes multiple deflections during games. We need both IQ and GTJ.

  9. Hi Ben with all due respect, GTJ is an asset for the Raptors. He has made clutch shots at key moments in games. He’s a pure 3-point shooter and makes multiple deflections during games. We need both IQ and GTJ.

  10. Personnel I think 🏀 the Raptors should tank 🛢 the rest of the year to secure the highest draft pick possible 🤔

  11. GTJ is the Raptors most important free agent if you look at his body of work. If the raps give him three years at about 20 he will be a trade asset for the future

  12. Big Perk keeps repeating: "If someone shows you who they are–believe them!" The Raps have been a huge disappointment all season–pissing away a bunch of close games with lousy shooting, especially from the FT line and deep. It used to be that our defence would win us most of those games… Not anymore!!! The team is trash. They manage to get our hopes up by winning a few games here and there, but for the most part they shit the bed and get out-hustled and out-worked. I've been on Team Tankathon since our embarrassing loss to the depleted Grizzlies, in hopes of retaining our 1st round pick. That game showed me this team–even healthy–has no heart and no dog in them and they fully merit their record. Our announcers and journalists that keep saying that this team is better than their record are either blind…or don't know what they are talking about. Even the Pistons couldn't wait to play us because they knew we would help them break their 20 game losing streak. I want us to keep losing close games. This team is certainly not going to go on a winning streak that's for damn sure and there is too few games to turn around this season to even make the play-in games. At least if we keep losing under the guise of "development",we might be able to save face and maybe convince the NBA media that we meant to do that and we don't actually suck as much as we do.

  13. I think for Scottie to be a more consistent scorer he needs to have the assignment of being the best defender and point forward of the team. RJ has already shown a lot more effort on defence and so has IQ (more of a team defender) and surprisingly pass the ball more while looking to score. GTJ is the serious weak link in the starting lineup. He’s become nothing more than a 3pt shooter and even then he’s not attempting as many shots as he should be. I wouldn’t mind seeing Dick play the role of an off ball 3&D shooter that can make the pass to the open man.

  14. Sad to say,but grady is making a case for himself to be that guy, plus he will come in cheap compared to gary

  15. Luv GTJ. Sure he can be streaky but when he's clutch…He kills it! He's still young and lets be real it's a reality that players do not want to play for Toronto and be in Canada (rolls eyes) IDC what anyone says were always looked down upon because we are
Toronto! The fact that GTJ decided to stay shows he actually Likes playing for Toronto. In all, this is a business and it seems with Gradey on our roster and ofc money being a factor…GTJ will prob leave us in the off season😭

  16. My comment on Quickly is that from what I've seen so far he has a lot of heart and talent and him being young I see him only getting better. A fair contract for the future would be nice. As for Gary, I see you said he has gone a little back in his game but to be fair his minutes have not been consistent and for awhile he's starting and then he's coming off the bench so I can understand if he's a little confused as to what his role really is. I remember raving about him the last couple of years and when we've won games that we've trailed in the 4th quarter he's been the hero and pretty much won the game for us with his clutch shooting especially 3's. With the team being all over the place this year there is only a couple of guys who seem to have a consistent role with the team. Let's get some consistent line-ups playing and maybe the chemistry will follow and good things will come with the talent we have.

  17. Gary's stats are low because Darktard put him off the bench the first half of the year. He is now fumbling the ball with Boucher too. But Gary's mentality needs to be a starter. He needs to feel valued. His shot falls more like that.

  18. @benrogers bronnys agent rich paul will tell teams like toronto not to draft bronny because he wont sign with them. this is so lebron doesnt go to a team where he doesnt want to be like toronto who cant pay him his max.

  19. Trent is going to be a great player I.Q is not giving him the right passes Sometimes .
    Something is wrong I
Do hope it can be fixed.

  20. Earlier in the season Darko said that wins are not important, this season is all about development. I can only speculate on how the players took those words. Darko also said that they wouldn't play zone only man to man defense. Only to play zone defense soon after. Too many mixed messages coming from his leadership. If wins are important why isn't Boucher in the rotation?

Will the Raptors finally earn their 🍕🥳 with a win against the Pacers and Pascal on Monday evening?

  21. Let these guys finally start getting used to each other – now that they have been playing a few games together, things are looking better for all. IQ and GTJ are looking great now… GTJ is back to making baskets on the fast break and not getting blocked, you can see that his thought process and moves have more clarity now. I wouldn’t give up on Gary yet.

  22. $25M AAV is quite a bit for Quickley at this stage of the game. He hasn't been very efficient and doesn't offer much offense outside of the 3 ball and transition. I'd be a little more comfortable around $22M AAV.

  23. Hear me out here but my ideal offseason would involve letting both GTJ and Bruce Brown walk. I can see the argument for keeping both but if they're not part of the future, from an asset management perspective, it's way more valuable to clear $40mil in cap space than it is to kick the can down the road and get bad contracts and late firsts or seconds for these guys in trades. I know the Raps haven't had a great track record in free agency in the past but we haven't operated with legit cap space for some time. I think there are two guys worth really taking a swing at in UFA Nic Claxton (24) and RFA Patrick Williams (22). Both are elite role players in a switchable rim protecting lob-threat in Claxton and a protoypical 3&D wing/stretch 4 in Williams and both would fit well around Scottie and fit the timeline. If you can clear space to get one of them, I think it sets you up better for the future than handcuffing yourself to bad contracts to offload a Trent or Brown in the future.

  24. Stop appluading and begging for tanking. Actually playing to win and playoff exposure is the most important experience. No more rookies. Enough with the draft picks. We need players
