Zach Collins needs to LEAVE he is HORRENDOUS.
People say Pop is not the coach he used to be. Not true. He has been permissive with a new, young team, allowing them to learn from their mistakes. But the time is coming where Pop will hold everyone accountable. As an older Spur, perhaps Pop expects KJ to know better by now.
I felt like the whole team was frustrated and tired. In the second half, they played more like professionals. Mental toughness is part of the maturing process

I can see someone getting benched for bad plays/lack of effort vs. just poor shooting. Usually more shooting fixes poor shooting, benching fixes effort and bonehead plays.
Keldon unfortunately uses all that brawn of his for scoring alone, and if he were the fluid and consistent scorer he isn't this would matter less.

Keldon is the most tenured Spur, much is expected of him.. basketball IQ cant be taught.. felt bad for him but he deserved to be benched. He has been regressing, hope this wakes him up from his slumber.. anyway Mamu played great when he was given the time.

I think the common theme is players get pulled when they don't bring what they're capable of bringing on defense (mentally and/or phyisically). I think a player who goes 1 for 8 on offense can stay on the court with their defensive play and other parts of their game.
The Spurs are stupid if they trade away Johnson
You don't bench players because the shots aren't falling, "shooters mentality" is KEEP SHOOTING. Jordan Poole in WAS got benched because of bonehead mistakes and plays. Unfortunately keldon last night played a little out of control and so now pop is settling him down. These last few games are for refining skills and plays. Keldon may find himself on another team next year but you can bet pop is gonna make sure he leaves as a Complete and Competent basketball player
That was a terrible play on your first possession! 7 footer shooting a 3, and you're trailing the play, getting screened… you're not going to block the shot. Shows he's undisciplined and not mentally in the game! Probably pouting he's the 6th man. Manu was damn near a career 6th man… and you definitely aren't on that level! I'm glad he pulled his behind! I think the fan discourse has gotten to some of the players and especially Keldon. The entire fan base has been basically praising Wembanyama. When it comes to Devin, Jeremy, and Keldon fans have picked a side, and when one or two of them play bad the other players fans begin to trash them. Early in the season Devin and Keldon fans were mad at Jeremy because he was awful at playing the point. Now that Keldon has had bad games Jeremy and Devin fans want him traded. I think all the picking who you back has Keldon thinking about if he is in the long term plans with the Spurs and itās clearly affecting his mentality playing.
Hopefully just benched. We will see.

This is not the same PopoviÄ from 10 years ago let alone 20 years ago. I remember the first year PopoviÄ took over from Bob Hill, I seriously thought, āWhat the hell is a great GM becoming a head coach? Weirdā. Having pop for the first year in 1996-1997, I was thinking, what a horrible year. Injuries and a horrible coach. This canāt get worse. Then 1997 draft came and I couldnāt be happier, we ended up being lucky with Tim and a few good players that came in later. This season, if it wasnāt for Wemby, I would have not wanted to watch any games. In fact, if we didnāt have Wemby, we would have been renamed the Charlotte Bobcats and would have protested the spurs to sack Pop. Pop is the most luckiest coach in NBA history. Heās no Phil Jackson, but I give it to him, heās loyal.
As for Keldon, I donāt know if spurs picked him up because heās a Charles Barkley prototype, but heās no Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley had more bite and was a psychopath and thatās what made Charles Barkley, shoot 3s, grabbed boards and fearless.
I can feel your frustration Rich, Julian has had more starts, maybe this is the reason why? Maybe because Keldon in these years had so many opportunities maybe heās hit his own ceiling and maybe spurs can see thereās nothing much Keldon can improve on and this is why I believe he will be trade bate. Sad, for someone pop had high hopes on and even added him into the national team. But, this time I truely believe Keldon needs to look in the mirror and see how hungry is he really? Might be the push he needs and pressure he needs to understand. How many chances do most of our guys need?
I think we all know that the season is over, may aswell throw in Sidy from Austin and give him a shot. Nothing to lose anyways..
