Coach Brown Speaks in Denver | Postgame Presser 2.28.24
Uh you know obviously we came out and we had good intentions to to start the game uh I thought you know offensively we were really really good the ball was moving uh Keegan hit some some big shots for us um uh but they they found a way
To kind of stay in it and and we got enough stops we got out in transition got some great looks uh and then it uh got to a point in the game in that second quarter where we started turning the ball over over and I thought uh you
Know the turnover after turnover after turnover and or Miss shots I thought we took some good shots even when they when they made their run I thought our shot selection was pretty good the ball movement was pretty good uh we just missed them and they got out and uh
Jamal hit some hit some threes in transition that open the floodgates for him and you know obviously it’s a 10-point ball game at the halftime and to start the second half um again I our first cut few looks I thought were pretty good even uh getting Kev to the
Free throw line um was a good play and um by the guys and and uh we just couldn’t buy a bucket we couldn’t ball would not go into the ocean at that point in time and we weren’t getting enough stops and uh you know we tried to
Stem the tide in the second half uh but uh their pressure in transition uh especially in that second quarter was the result of uh them getting the getting the lead they had 20 fast break points in the first half we did a better job in the second half but
Uh their pressure and transition in that second quarter off our Miss shots and our turnovers was the was the cause of the game but uh defensively um you know I I thought we were okay at times uh again you know they shot 43% from the three-point line
A lot of that was Jamal uh in transition in that second quarter and then once he saw a few go in he’s a a great player uh he just stayed in Rhythm the whole game and continue to knock shots down but the ones in the half court uh that they hit
We didn’t do a good job of uh uh closing out like we have in the the last two games I’d say um and it resulted in them shooting 43% from the floor from from the three-point line uh I thought uh the the the the last group I thought uh uh
Mason Trey uh Alex dorte um and kastler I thought those guys were real really good I thought they tried to play hard they I thought they tried to play together and tried to play the right way and and uh Mason did a good job of trying to organize the
Guys and and uh trying to help make the game easier for them so uh there were some bright spots early on from our our our uh main rotation guys and then there were bright spots uh late in again game from uh guys that don’t get a lot of
Playing time mik obviously it’s going to be difficult to go against that team without de but um you know given that they’ve won four straight now their average Point differential is 18 points is there something to be learned by going against a team like that that’s in that type of GrooVe that has
Championship experience it looks to be contending again for your team yeah I mean anytime you can go against uh a team like that you’re going to you’re going to take something away way and the biggest thing is is just the the constant pressure that they put on you
You know and they tried to do it defensively and uh early on we were getting great looks and then they started getting some deflections and we started uh making some bad decisions with the basketball and as soon as that happened uh you could see how hard they
Pushed and they ran uh they ran in transition and then once they smell blood you can even see uh on both ends of the floor their defense picked up a little bit but even in even their their offense I mean couple of the cuts that
Nicoa made to the rim uh you know that’s just in his setup you know that’s just Championship uh level basketball just knowing and and having a feel for uh how to get a foul how to get a bucket how to put pressure on the team and you know
One of the things we talk about a lot is getting paint touches paint touches paint touches and we we did a good job of that early on but as the game went we went away from it and uh we we kept trying to tell the guys hey keep
Touching the paint cuz the sprays will be there uh and not just with the basketball but with cuts too and Denver does that uh a lot they they will uh play Pick and role and they know when to cut a guy when to hold a guy uh Maka uh
Is a very good decision maker and and again all that was just in the flow especially when they smelled uh a chance to take uh take take it to us and when you don’t have your primary ball handler obviously provides Keegan an opportunity to to score a little bit more and create
More um it looked like he was doing that in the first quarter um is there a message to for him that hey like I know you’ve harped on him being aggressive but is that a conversation you think you need to have again after this game like
You mean when you’re out there we need you to to be the aggressor offensively yeah you know I I’ve had and I will continue to have conversation with Keegan we want Keegan to be aggressive uh uh because we we feel like his development is necessary for us to
Continue our climb as a team and um uh so not just because of tonight but you know going forward uh I’m always going to tell him hey be aggressive uh just because this guy’s in the game or that guy’s in the game uh you go ahead and
You take the lead if you see any opportunity to take advantage of the defense or your Defender uh we’re all for it do you have any sense um I’m guessing de’s going to be day today but do you have any sense about his availability
For uh no I I I don’t I haven’t talked to our trainers yet or anything they just said he he was out I okay

Domas 3 – Joker 1
🤮
Thank you.
Cannot understand why MB took so long to call a timeout
You are failing the team coach! Keegan needs to be featured more in offense throughout the game. And this team is wayyyyy too casual considering the situation that says a lot about YOU!!!! We end up in the play in and get bounced by the Lakers or Warriors it’s not gonna be pretty.
Hey time to face it.. your teams do not play defense.. screw the offense.. seems coach you can’t not teach team defense at all. fix it or leave dude..
Bums cost me money
Mike Brown is getting out coached. Don't know when to call. Timeouts has horrible rotations. Sickening
Mike Bown really said Alex Duarte 😂 brah you don’t even know the names of your players? He’s been coaching like he wishes he was still in Oakland sitting court side next to Kerr 🤪
Mike Brown is so important to us wouldn’t want any other coach
61-12 Denver run in 13 minutes (7th min of 2Q-6 min of 3Q)is insane, Murray wasn't an All Star?😮
I won’t be surprised if they don’t make it to the playoffs😡 our bench is garbage they were good last year because they surprised teams looking like the old kings again with no defense😡😡😡
Coach Brown? SMH! Coach Brown has not done anything to get the Kings ready for the playoffs! The Kings offense is very easy to stop! First you build a wall to keep Fox and Malik out of the paint, and force the Kings to take tough 3s! Coach Brown has not gotten Alex Len or JaVale McGee in game shape! The Kings front line of Sabonis, Keegan, and HB is too small!!! The Nuggets and Heat attack the rim at will vs our Kings! Teams are learning, build a wall, keep Fox and Malik out of the Paint! And make the Kings take tough 3s! Coach Brown, does not understand why Alex and JaVale have to play a lot!!! Sabonis cant jump and he is not tall enough for Fox and Malik to get the ball to him when they get double! With Alex and JaVale on the floor Fox and Malik could at least LOB the ball up to them, which may open up the lane more. I repeat, Coach Brown has not done anything to get the Kings ready for the Playoffs!
I think it's time Mike Brown gotta go and the front office as well. If you look at it… Mike had all year to develop his bench, but almost every game he's maxing minutes for the starters. Huerter and Barnes 27 min a night and streaky as hell. Monty only wanna blame players consistency when really the problem is right there. Kings needs help defensively! The pace for the Kings is too fast to the point they can't even set up their own offense and cook themselves with turnovers, and they looked gas everytime down the stretch. This causes the players to be inconsistent because they cannot setup the rhythm in time. Hand offs are too predictable now, and they need a new play or switch moving forward. Please Mike play your bench more so they can develop. Use McGee as your true Center fill in and move Murray to SF and Barnes to bench to help Malik and switch Duarte with Huerter so at least the starter starts with at least 3 defensive players. You guys wanna win or what? Can't keep depending on Fox, Domas and a young rookie Keegan for carry starting rn.
Brown did his best Luke Walton possession. How about coach and call a timeout to stop momentum?
