> One of the most frequent questions circulating leaguewide at the moment: Who is taking over Charlotte’s basketball operations after the recent announcement from longtime executive Mitch Kupchak that he’s stepping down?

> League sources say Brooklyn’s Jeff Peterson, New Orleans’ Trajan Langdon and Minnesota’s Matt Lloyd are three prime names to watch as the Hornets close in on a new lead executive to run their front office.

> The Nets are said to have strong interest in trying to keep Peterson as a top aide to Sean Marks … potentially with a new title, raise, etc. Langdon has been a candidate for lead decision-maker jobs previously. Lloyd was one of Tim Connelly’s first hires when Connelly started assembling his front office in Minnesota.

> Peterson, of course, worked previously with one of the Hornets’ new co-owners (Rick Schnall) in Atlanta.

  1. Langdon would be my hope.

Assistant GM during the excellent Nets rebuild, and then left before the turmoil and destruction.

  2. I’m excited man. Its ludicrously difficult to discern gm quality without a legit track record of work as a GM. But I watched a few interviews with our potential candidates just to gauge their thinking and general philosophies. I think i’m the biggest fan of Trajan imo. Hes really concise, has a clear vision and plan for everyone drafted and I generally believe the Pelicans have rebuilt and drafted really well. And its clear he has a large voice in that FO. He does all their interviews that relate to the draft and its been rumored hes typically the voice in a lot of their communication with other FOs across the league. So thats my guy. But ultimately I’m ok with letting the new owners figure this one out. Just my two cents.

i feel like Langdon is the obvious hire here and the FO knows it

I’m expecting some sort of GM and president of basketball operations situation with Peterson and Langdon. Those are the guys we’ve been hearing about since like even the beginning of the season. Honestly i’m fine with any of the options though

I really like what New Orleans has done with their roster in terms of having a ton of depth and good role players. They also have drafted pretty well as of late. I hope the Hornets end up hiring Langdon.

  6. First comes the GM. Then comes the coach. Then I’ll be happy.

Surely they have an assistant GM in OKC that we can snake.
