Trae GONE: Why Young Might’ve Played His LAST Game In Atlanta

Trae GONE: Why Young Might’ve Played His LAST Game In Atlanta

On the surface Trey Young’s late season finger injury doesn’t seem all that consequential with the All-Star 4-we absence merely impacting the Eastern conference’s depressing play-in race but dig deeper and you’ll find this could be a Monumental turning point for the Hawks don’t be shocked if ice prey has played his last game in

Atlanta based on the hawk initial injury update the torn ligament in Young’s left pinky will keep him out until at least March 24th which would still leave 13 games of wiggle room on Atlanta’s regular season schedule but that’s a best case scenario sure he can keep his conditioning up and

The injury is on his non-sh shooting hand but it does require surgery and it’s important to remember that young will only be re-evaluated after 4 weeks so an April return date seems more realistic and that’s where things get dicey if the Hawks were playing for something of significance down the

Stretch had legitimate Championship aspirations this spring or even just had a different outlook for the future welcoming an All-Star back at any point before or during the postseason would be a no-brainer but let’s be real this is a 10th Place team that was eight games under 500 before losing young even with

Their franchise star in the lineup their best case scenario for this season was needing to win two playin games just for the right to get their asses handed to them by the top seated Celtics in the first round of the playoffs I know that sounds harsh but it’s true that might

Fly for upand cominging Rebuilders but it shouldn’t Fly for a Hawks team that made a very significant win now trade almost 2 years ago with 2024 also representing the last year Atlanta controls its own first round draft pick until 2028 the Hawks fit the mold as the

Type of team that should punt on this season if things start to unravel and the fact Young’s coming off surgery should make it easier to skirt the League’s new anti- reses rules while it is possible dejonte Murray Jaylen Johnson bogdon bogdanovich and Company keep things from unraveling in Young’s

Absence this is still a losing team staring down the Eastern conference’s fourth toughest remaining schedule so now you know why we might not see Trey again this season and once we get to the off season all better are off when it comes to his tenure in Atlanta the Hawks

Are one of the teams in most dire need of a shakeup since making a stunning run to the east Final in 2021 when they played at a solid yet still unspectacular 47 win Pace the Hawks have been a consistently mediocre play in team they’ve been a losing team overall

In Young’s six-year career they’ve lost the minutes he’s been on the court they’re on their third coach in the last four seasons and they’re barely closer to contention today than they were when they drafted Trey in 2018 despite a significant infusion of talent over the years what have we been doing all this

Time though young has remained statistically productive and is still only in his mid-20s he also deserves a fair share of the blame for that stagnation and dysfunction a prolific scorer breathtaking passer and pick and roll Maestro no one can deny his place among the League’s best offensive players but tre’s shortcomings leave

More holes to fill in the team building process than bigger more complete stars do he’s an ineffective and often unwilling offb player who isn’t just a bad Defender he consistantly rates as one of the absolute worst defensive players in basketball all of that helps explain why rival front offices

Reportedly believe the Hawks will finally be willing to entertain trade talks for the three-time All-Star this summer even in the unlikely event the Hawks take off with young out of the lineup and make something out of this season that would only embolden them to find an an offseason trade partner the

Highest profile team young will be linked to is the Lakers as once the 2024 draft is complete Los Angeles will be able to attach up to three first rounders and three pick swaps to Austin Reeves and salary filler that’s a pretty enticing package but there’s a team out

There with even more draft Capital to offer thanks to the Hawks coincidentally enough and an ascended Superstar who could accentuate young strengths and mitigate his weaknesses in ways few other co-star could this birds have a lot of trade Capital there’s a lot of talk about them a star next to him what

Kind of star do you best next to a guy like anybody I mean the kind of player that can help him win a championship I mean make it make his job easier for him I mean somebody who can just help him so that’s that’s the type of player he

Needs around him Young and the Spurs or rather young and Victor wanyama are a match made in basketball ball Heaven wy’s freakish talents will have the Spurs competitive sooner than later but he desperately needs a point guard to play with Trey’s on ball Brilliance shooting range and playmaking combined

With reman yama’s off ball and finishing talents would make for a devastating offensive Duo meanwhile the Big Fella’s otherworldly combo of length and Mobility would protect young like never before on the defensive end Imagining the ways these two could amplify each other’s games is intoxicating while the Hawks could recoup the draft Capital

Necessary to build a post trade future like the idea itself that trade’s time in Atlanta might be up it just makes too much sense not to be explored thanks for watching if you like this video and want to see more content like this be sure to hit that subscribe button

On the surface, Trae Young’s late-season finger injury doesn’t seem all that consequential, with the All-Star’s four-week absence merely impacting the Eastern Conference’s depressing play-in race.

But dig deeper, and you’ll find this could be a monumental turning point for the Hawks.

  1. I don't think Spurs get tre, and if they do, it would be around 2026 when he becomes a free agent.

  2. I could see SA trading one of their lottery picks back to ATL. The Hawks can select Rob Dillingham and try to reboot that franchise

  3. Love that sly grin Trae had when he was asked about what kind of teammate Wemby needs. Seems like he'd like to play with Vic!

  4. I don't think San Antonio will expend their draft picks for Trae Young or any other star. They'll do the boring and prudent thing and build the team naturally through the draft. When they get closer to play-off contention in a season or two, they might start adding more talent, starting with better complementary players.

  5. What is more realistic: trading Trading Trae to the Spurs for a package that includes Devin Vassell and draft compensation or packaging Dejounte Murray, Onyeka Okongwu and draft compensation for Zion Willianson?

  6. Spurs have two top 10 draft picks. No way they’re getting Trae. They can get an ELITE passer, and another good defender with those picks.

  7. It's an exciting idea. The defensive deficiency of Trae would be covered by Wemby and on the offensive side Trae would make up for what Wemby lacks right now.

  8. the high chances of spurs getting Cooper flag in 2025 together with trae and wemby will shake the entire NBA

  9. Is there ever a championship team that has a non D starter? Trae will be great on rebuilding teams but a liability to any contender.
Even excluding Wemby, Pop's last 2 stars were on all NBA defensive teams. He knows that dropping 40 is only good for highlight reels, but winning the postseason is by playing tough D.
Spurs knew they were simply loaning DJM to the Hawks to give him better playing experience. When his wings are hardened, Pop would have him back in a heartbeat rather than Trae.

  10. I do not like having Wenby and then putting close to him a 40% usage guy who shoots from 14meters and does not defend, only to get him a pick and roll partner. Spurs should maybe look for worse talent, but a better overall player.

  11. Now imagine if Luka was paired with Wemby, that would totally be insane. Just look at how much Lively benefits from Luka's playstyle. Though Dallas would never ever let go of Luka and the Spurs feels the same about Wemby.

  12. Fuck no. Spurs fan here btw. I can’t see this happening. R c Buford would come back from retirement and slap everyone.

  13. Wait, you got a losing record in the Trae years? I thought you guys had won the Luka trade LMAO

  14. If Atlanta Hawks do trade Trae to the Lakers, this would be a disastrous move. Atlanta could have a bad losing 2024-2025 season without its star. Lakers should improve while the San Antonio Spurs would have the last laugh because they own Atlanta’s unprotected 2025 pick which could end up in the top 10 or higher. So if you the Hawks, do you prefer dealing with the Lakers and receive future assets or a chance at getting Cooper Flagg?

  15. That defense is a killer. Spurs always have tried to emphasize good defense. Pop has benched Wemby for stretches because he's not giving enough effort and energy. Trae would get held to that standard.

  16. hi from Slovenia my favorite is Penny Hardaway + Mr Beast Shaquille O'Neal . Hhhhmm Trae + Wemby 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂🤷‍♂
