Outside of outright winning, we played as good of a game as I could have imagined.
Alos, until he shows otherwise, Rupert is a sniper from three.

Here are some of my thoughts on this game:
The good:
* I LOVED what I saw from Rupert tonight. He had several good defensive possessions against both Edwards and KAT (the versatility he displayed this game was really nice), a nice pull-up three over KAT, and two good dribble drives attacking closeouts. He played pretty close to a perfect game and I think he earned some minutes going forward.
* I like going right at KAT and getting him in early foul trouble. That’s the second time we’ve done that to him this season, and it takes him out of a rhythm and makes the Wolves as a whole much easier to guard.
* Reath bounced back nicely after he spent the last 10 games or so in a shooting slump. He did a great job shooting, short-roll decision making, and attacking closeouts, and really made the Wolves pay for playing so aggressively on Ant.
* Speaking of Ant, I thought he also played a good game. He was effective using his gravity to generate good shots for his teammates and generally did a good job passing out of traps and double teams. I thought it was interesting that we spent most of the first three quarters using him primarily off the ball, and it seemed to help Ant get to his spots a little bit easier than if he was asked to bring the ball up the court the entire game. Career high in assists for him!
The bad:
* FT differential was not in our favor at all that game. That’s what happens when you’re a young, inexperienced team playing super aggressive defense though. I don’t really think the refs were that bad today.
* I thought murray once against made a ton of really smart plays: he was active on defense, got a bunch of deflections, and rebounded well. However, he continues to struggle with his shot – this is the second time in tthe last 5 games he’s hit the side of the backboard on an open corner three. Yikes.
* Moses Brown is not an NBA player. That is all.
* Jabari really struggled against the Wolves’ length inside. all those finishes that were going in against the Grizzlies and other smaller teams just do not work against the Wolves. He played well defensively, but it was rough for him offensively.
* Dalano had a great first quarter but really struggled afterwards. That being said, I generally like what I see this game – he was asked to do more than he really should be asked to do, so not really his fault.
* Really like Hagans’ energy defensively but he does not really appear to be an NBA-caliber decision maker/PG right now unfortunately. Some of those TO’s were extremely ugly.

Competitive game, Banton the goat, Rupert minutes. All you can really ask for man.

Great loss baby that’s what I like

It’s insane to me that Rupert doesn’t get minutes. This is the 2023-24 Blazers with a 17-43 record. IMO that kind of changes the definition of “NBA ready” when talking about young guys

Did not expect that game to be as enjoyable to watch as it was. Kudos to the team for keeping things fun/competitive despite being super short-handed against strong opposition 👏.

Quality loss and Dame had his best game as a Buck. Tonight was a good night

Wanted to give some love to Duop, who dropped 26 points on 10/14 tonight. Awesome efficiency from him. He seems to be expanding his offensive game as of late, hes getting really good at attacking closeouts. I think since he’s 27 people forget that he’s a rookie with lots of room to improve in his game. Great performance from him tonight.

Wow so many great positives to take from this game!! Simons had one of the most impressive games of his career. Most of this season, he has folded vs aggressive and physical defenses. It sucks because he is talented and asked to do so much with little spacing and experience in a lot of games. However, he had a completely different mindset tonight. He trusted his teammates more than I have seen from him and made some really high level reads and made some awesome passes. In addition to the best passing game of his career, he had a SICK drive and DUNK on Gobert. That is the type of aggression and athletic finishing that people have wanted from Simons since he was drafted. Now we have to see if Simons can maintain this advanced level of playmaking and vision, obviously not going to average that many assists but his decision making was terrific.
I have been BEGGING for Rayan to play. He was seen as a defensive player that had some playmaking chops but badly needed to work on his jumpshot. He was super hot from 3 during his first 20 games for the Remix and looked so comfortable the last time he got real minutes. What I love about him is that he plays with so much aggression. When he gets the ball, he plays and moves with a purpose. Always moving himself and the ball and has so much length I love love love this guy as a prospect because of his two way potential. I LOVED his game tonight and he DESERVES to play the rest of the year because he has EARNED IT. We NEED shooting and he has shot great so far. Let him work through his mistakes and DEVELOP that is what this season is for. I NEVER understood why he was too raw for a 17 win team to play.
AWESOME GAME!!!

Competitive losses are actually fine. Keep that lotto position while the boys improve.

Jabari’s slow/nonexistent jump is going to work against him sometimes… got a hook shot packed by gobert, vulnerable to shot blockers around the rim that aren’t even as tall
