Olynyk on opting to sign an extension instead of testing free agency: “They traded for me, they wanted me here, just to reciprocate that love and show that I want to be here too. I’ve wanted to be here since I was 4 years old… Hopefully I’ll be here for the rest of my career”
Olynyk added that having his contract situation settled ahead of Canada training camp and the Olympics this summer was also a factor in his decision to sign the extension rather than testing free agency. “That was definitely a big part of it as well, getting this out of the way.”

I grew up in Langley, British Columbia and it’s kind of surreal to see him playing for Canadas team. He was a BEAST in high school.
Signing an extension before the Olympics is a dream for a player of Kelly’s age and quality.
