Here with Duncan who had the four three-pointers the 18 points a huge shot laid along with Jimmy Butler Duncan not always going to be easy doesn’t matter what the opponent’s record is on a night like this where shots weren’t falling in that fourth what did it take for you

Guys to finish it I mentioned those big shots down the stretch and close out Detroit I thought we had some good defensive possessions in the fourth being disruptive you know Caleb Jimmy bam doing what they do best and uh you know get down the stretch we like our

Chances uh you know they’re they’re a scrabby team they’re playing a lot better right now and uh they play hard and they’re talented so this is a good win close game down the stretch you as a team you had to hit a three in the fourth quarter you knocked down that big

But what does it take mentally when shots aren’t falling you see the team chipping away chipping away getting closer to still be able to knock down a shot like that yeah just stay at it obviously uh missed a couple in a row there um but as a shooter or a

Basketball player have a short-term memory just move on to the next play so uh Terry put me in a great spot right in Rhythm so that’s a good one to to break a little slump right there there we’re used to seeing you knock down shots again I mentioned the four threes you

Hit that’s nothing new but the way you’re attacking that that crossover behind the back thing going whatever that was in the first half take me through that how is that you know we laughed at it but how has that evolved for you where you look so comfortable

Doing it I’m not entirely sure what happened on that play I kind of blacked out so I’m going to have to watch the video uh to dissect it cuz quite honestly I don’t remember look good that’s what I remember about it more importantly as we close it out you guys

Look good it’s 11 wins and 14 games 21 games left the standings are up and down every night you know what’s left how good do you feel about the way you guys are starting to play maybe more to your style yeah you know we like we like what

We’re doing right now we’re heading the right direction but you know this finish is a bunch of teams clumped up right there in the middle of the East so it’s a great opportunity uh to just go out and compete every night you know every game matters regardless of who you’re

Playing against so you know we’re excited to to rest up from this one and then try to get another one on Thursday go get rest but first things first check out that video it was pretty good I appreciate it dunck and Robins what’s it say about what Monty’s done that they’ve

Lost what 52 out of 60 or something like that now and he still has them playing hard just about every night and obviously they’ve given you guys two pretty good ones what’s that say about just what he’s been able to do with a young group that he hasn’t lost him yeah

I mean he’s the the right guy for this situation uh and you know when they uh start to win and when these guys start to gain experience um you know he’s an exceptional leader uh he infuses confidence and positivity uh and it and he’s a teacher you know by by Nature um

That was a physical game uh and and you can’t look at their record and so you try to tell your team that as much as possible and I don’t think our guys were you know disrespecting them or overlooking them it’s just the the level of physicality and speed and

Youthfulness that they bring um you know you have to experience it uh and they’ve been getting better and then since the trade you know they have guys that really fit their core young group um you know so I I anticipated that would probably be a pretty uh physical and

Competitive game and almost every bit of that records aside when you get into those closing moments it sort of becomes I don’t want to say maybe playoff like but moments of truth how did you feel that your team handled those moments of Truth yeah good uh um and

I if you could just always guarantee that we get to win I want as many of those as possible you know I love the experiences you know for our team to be able to go through situational fourth quarter um experiences with context of time score fouls uh pressure you know

All that where’s the ball going uh how are we defending different situations um and I think our guys you know there’s there’s enough institutional knowledge on what we’re trying to do so as we’re in incorporating some new guys like Terry uh I think he can just kind of you know

Be himself um and he was able to do that you know down the stretch and he he scored that big bucket you know on the on the pick and roll where he was able to turn the corner when we were kind of you know went away from Jimmy and Bam

Just for one possession uh and that was a great possession you know for us and uh you know these next 21 games um you know there’ll probably be a lot of these you know it’s just the way you know it’s going right now everybody’s fighting for playoff positioning you mentioned Terry’s play

He’s only been back a week but he’s had a bunch of fourth quarter plays is that an aspect of his game that you and Pat and everyone discussed before acquiring him even beyond the obvious skills his ability to sees the moment at times when needed late in games yeah he’s like a

Lot of our guys you know he lives for those moments he has that clutch Gene I me that that’s kind of a cliche but you know he does have that and he’s uh you know build a career over that and you know he had some really massively uh massive uh playoff

Performances in Boston you know when he was a young player and then you know as a fourth quarter uh playmaker and score with Charlotte even though you know they didn’t have like uh you know a ton of them but when they did he he really produced in those moments so you know

That’s a big part of why we wanted him another guy that can create off the dribble can create kind of plays when they’re they’re not really obvious um and then sometimes you get stuck and you just need you know your best players to make plays um and he’s able to do

That I know we’ve talked about Duncan’s growth a ton already but like he had a couple crafty finishes in this one is there anything that he does at this point that surprises you or is all that kind of stuff expected cuz you’ve seen it I mean the one where he went behind

The back and through the legs and then spin yeah yeah he’s done that twice this year that was the one they did in San Antonio and he did it on the other side uh you know I just the one thing I will say about Duncan is he puts in a a crazy

Amount of time behind the scenes and Player Development uh and all these things that he’s been working on we encourage it uh and the coaches are with Him hours on end you know working on all these moves and until you know we feel comfortable and then the team feels

Comfortable and then you see it enough in practice then he can unleash it you know I don’t know when he’s worked on that one he does has not worked on that one with our staff um you’ve been finishing a decent amount of games lately with more Zone in the

Fourth quarter and it looked like you were almost going to do that tonight after a few possessions and then you got out of it what made you want to get out of the zone and then go back to Bam me up on the ball on Cade have I yes I don’t know

We play zone you know a lot uh was I thinking about it in the fourth four okay um it just depends you know they were getting to that pick and roll like a few too many times and they were kind of it was paint by numbers a little bit

You know it was like they’re getting this then they were getting that then they were setting up that and getting this and it was like all the different reads they wanted to get uh off of that and you know Cunningham is a a a great decision ision maker with the ball and

He can kind of read the scheme and uh and he big so he can make all the different kinds of passes and if you play all the passing angles then he can score um so some of this is you know just to try to get them out of that for right

Or wrong um but it’s a weapon of ours um it’ll continue to be and we’ll just it depends on the game the context how much we’ll use it the way you’re using Jim a little bit differently now starting the fourth taking him out bringing him back

Does that change your approach as to the way you try to get things done in the fourth and is is is it a signal to Jimmy when it goes back in it’s your time take over or does he just sort of innately have the feel for what’s necessary yeah

He has a feel for that it’s not like I’m telling him on a timeout hey this is now your time to take over we have enough of these games under our belt um to learn you know to know how to negotiate those last three four five minutes of a close

Game uh you know and Bam you know is as really giv us kind of a a place where we can throw the ball as well uh in the fourth quarter um so we’ll continue to work on that it also is different without Klo it’s different without Tyler um we’ll

Just have to do whatever is necessary right now that’s the way we’re looking at it here with ter roir fresh off those 17 points s assists more importantly Heat win Terry was tough down the stretch I mean that’s a team that was fighting hard but as things weren’t going your

Well what did it take as a team to make some big shots late execute the offense you wanted and finish this game off well just to dig deep man we understand that every game not not easy you know in this leag you know it’s tough you know it’s

Tough to win uh especially for 48 minutes so you know we just tried to get our best shot at the end of the game and that’s what we we did your comfort level in finding guys in big spots I mean your guys been in this league made plenty of

Plays not just with the shots but finding guys how is that kind of continued to progress where it seems like you’re really finding your teammates in rhythm in big spots just being a ball player man just being a ball player all these guys got a lot of

Trust in me so you know just want to go out there and try to make plays for myself and for others and you know it’s working so try to keep it going as far as the shot how how comfortable are you feeling now uh some big shots late some

Attacking some of the things we’ve seen really evolve and continue to develop with your game as you become more comfortable the last few games how was coming along it’s coming along uh by the time we looking at the big picture by the time it really matters everything

Could be fulling intact so that’s that’s that’s that’s the big goal that’s their main focus right now speaking of the big picture 20 21 games left it’s wild to think the season’s almost uh finishing up what’s the key for you guys right now that you’re focusing on as you get these

Games you no matter who you play no matter what the record on the other side in finding that Rhythm as a team where you want to be uh we understand where we at in the East so you know we want to take it game by game and get as much

Wins as possible and you know uh with our group we we believe we can so you know we see what happens finally hitting the road you got a couple tough ones coming up uh again the momentum 11 wins in 14 games how do you carry that over

To the next couple on the road oh we ready for it we understand where we’re going we’re going in Dallas and OKC two two great teams so you know in the west so you know we going to go go in there and give them our best Terry it’s good
