DENVER NUGGETS VS. BOSTON CELTICS | JJ Redick Preview

DENVER NUGGETS VS. BOSTON CELTICS | JJ Redick Preview

Tonight we’ve got an incredible game potentially a finals preview the Boston Celtics the best team in the NBA the best record in the NBA going up against the defending Champion Denver Nuggets in Denver now if we remember Denver beat Boston in one of the best games of the

Regular season so far uh not too long ago few things from that game that I thought were interesting it’s one of the few games this season that Michael Malone put Aaron Gordon as the backup five he shortened that rotation we saw that throughout last year’s playoff run

They really treated that game uh like a playoff game both these teams have played excellent basketball of late they lost of course uh last night Boston blowing a 22-point lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland uh that was a super entertaining game and then Denver losing to Phoenix in overtime

They fought back in Denver uh they were also down big and ultimately Kevin Durant just took over in that overtime uh but these two teams I I I say this all the time they both have an identity they both have a way that they play they both have ways to exploit

Mismatches uh you want to go small okay who’s going to guard Eric Gord Aaron Gordon who’s going to guard him because Nicole yic is going to find him in the paint um end of game for the Denver Nuggets they’re going to go to their two-man action with joic and Murray and

You’ve got Shooters and you’ve got Aaron Gordon lurking on the the Baseline in the dunker spot Boston of course uh they play in a way that exploits mismatches constantly I do want to bring up the fourth quarter last night against Cleveland got a little sloppy with the

Ball got a little sloppy with their Closeouts on Shooters Dean Wade of course outscored the Boston Celtics himself in the fourth quarter the metrics say that the Boston Celtics fourth quarter and clutch offense has been awesome and it has I believe they’re the fourth best offense in clutch time the seventh best offense

In the fourth quarter overall but I found a little interesting nugget from Matthew Williams Boston in the fourth quarter have ised the fourth most in the NBA in terms of frequency so fourth most isos per 100 possessions they are 27th in points per possession on those isos

In the fourth quarter in the NBA at times their offense feels a little stagnated in the fourth and I know you can get a lot if you want to manipulate a Dereck white Jason Tatum pick and roll and get Derek White’s defender on Jason Tatum and play out of

That but I really believe this like at times it feels like you need a little bit of movement a little bit more movement um the white porzingis pick and roll Cleveland did a great job of that last night so something to watch because I think this is going to be another

Close game like it was in Boston uh something to watch is Boston’s late game execution it’s been sort of a a theme but again the metrics all say good stuff minus those ISO numbers couple things I’m interested in particular with this game uh is the matchups you know I

Brought up Aaron Gordon playing uh backup center in that first matchup uh how does Boston look to exploit I think Michael Porter Jr is probably the guy that they’ll hunt at time they’ll probably hunt Jamal Murray at times um on the other end how does Boston match

Up with joic uh he just had his way with porzingis is Boston GNA double uh Jaylen Brunson and the New York Knicks who I had that game earlier uh Joe moula decided I’m not going to I’m not going to Blitz Jaylen Brunson even though that was the prevailing wisdom uh of most

Teams right now going against the New York Knicks we’re going to Blitz Jaylen Brunson with Julius Randall out he’s been blitzed the second most times in the NBA Joe Missoula said I’m not going to do that I don’t want to get into rotation I’m gonna trust my guards I’m gonna trust

Derek white on them I’m gonna trust Drew holiday on them I I I don’t want to get into rotations not just for threes the Knicks are great offensive rebound team I don’t want to get into rotations because then I’m out of position to get offensive you know to get defensive

Rebound so how Boston matches up how Denver matches up with Boston it’s going to be a fascinating chess match uh between these two coaches very excited about it I think both these teams uh are certainly at the top of the list if you talk about Championship contenders Boston opened the season at

Plus 500 on DraftKings Sportsbook to be the NBA champion Denver opened at plus 600 as the defending champs right now they have the two best odds in the NBA Boston at plus 230 Denver at plus 450 uh the the Clippers in third at plus 475 and Milwaukee in fourth at plus 700

Look to be in the NBA Finals you have to ask yourself can a team beat the Boston Celtics in seven games this version not last year’s version not last year’s version this version with christs porzingis and Drew holiday added to this team with Derek white being unlocked

Because he’s now the primary ball hander on this team can you beat them four out of seven times and with the Denver Nuggets a proven Champion now at this point but in a much tougher Western Conference a loaded Western Conference there’s no easy matchups there’s no easy first round matchups in this conference

Uh it’s going to be fascinating to see if these two teams can get to the NBA finals this has been the draftking Sportsbook segment download the DraftKings Sportsbook app now and use code JJ new customers who deposit $5 or more can get a no sweat bet up to $1,000

  1. I know Celtics have elite perimeter defenders, but this feels like a 40 piece from Murray game with MPJ hitting 5 3s

  2. The Celtics out-gutting the Nuggets in a close game at the end would be exactly what people want to see. Something like 100-100 with 5 minutes to go

  3. 4th quarter stats for the Celtics as regards to iso-ing too much is a little misleading. Yes, they still have big questions about their end of game execution, but I wonder how much the statistics are skewed because they have already had huge leads in many of their 4th quarters. There is probably way more iso-ball bc the lead is so big. The Cleveland game was a big concern for me though, it looked like the same problems of the last few years all over again. Especially that last play, where Tatum took the clock to 5 seconds before even making a move, almost guaranteeing he wouldn't get anything close to a good look, which he of course didn't. As a Celtics fan I've seen that endlessly and at this point I would literally prefer Holiday to bring the ball up in that situation.

  4. Joker gonna come out very aggressive after struggling shooting vs suns. Also could see murray or mpj having a high scoring game

  5. The host's passion for the subject matter is contagious; it made me more interested in the topic.šŸ˜»

  6. this is irrelevant.. do not base on the standings.. come playoff time every team will do their best to make out of it.. boston choke every playoffs. i still believe in warriors, do not underestimate the heart of a champion. just my two cents..

  7. I feel like the teams who makes the Finals is never who we expected it to be, unless if it's like a superteam like the KD-Warriors, LeBron-Heats, '08 Celtics, '04 Lakers, etc. We can probably predict one team right, but there's usually one surprise team that makes it too. Lol

  8. Denver's frontline is big and a matchup nightmare for most NBA teams. MPJ is long and tall at 6' 10" and he can hit the 3 or finish strong in the paint. Boston will have a tough time with MPJ, Jokic, and Aaron Gordon. šŸ’ÆšŸ”„

  9. I'm a Celtics fan but the Nuggets are a far better team than us. Celtics could easily be a first round exit this year.

  10. Real basketball analysts šŸ’ÆšŸ¤™šŸæšŸ¤™šŸæšŸ¤™šŸæšŸ¤™šŸæthank you JJ

  11. This is finals preview until Boston meets Miami in play offs. But putting jokes aside, Boston canā€™t win anything if they keep being so f… not clutch and their best go to move is 20% of Kobe in Tatum iso game…

  12. A team nobody is talking about but I can see them make some major noise next year are the Orlando Magic. Theyā€™re currently 4th in the East above the Knicks. Theyā€™re going to be similar to OKC this year. A team that surprises and becomes a top 3 seed next year. Paolo Banchero rarely ever gets mentioned but heā€™s a stud.

How come nobody talks about Orlando in terms of their weather? JJ Redick would know. He was drafted by Orlando. I know Florida can be hot and humid but Orlando is up there for best weather among cities with NBA franchises below LA and Miami. More star players should sign with Orlando. Disney sponsors them. LeJuice did win his Mickey Mouse ring over there.

Best Weather Among NBA Cities –
    1. Los Angeles
    2. Miami
    3. Orlando
    4. San Francisco (it does get cold)

I might buy the blue azure Shaq Attaq 1s while buying a black Shaq Orlando jersey. Maybe one of Penny too but I already own a bobblehead of him, so no need. The Shaq Attaqs are only $80. Rock that black and blue.

I want to feel like ages 13-14 again (circa early 1994) rocking Shaqs. Donā€™t fake the funk on a nasty dunk! Then feel like ages 25-30 rocking Jordan 7 Citrus. That too is $80 on OfferUp. I want to own those sneakers again. Great to be alive during the 90s and mid 00s way before smartphones and social media rotted our brains.

  13. Did Rachel Nicholsā€™ appearance today on Undisputed after months being gone have an effect on Skip Bayless? Skip now thinks Denver is the best team? His basketball IQ went up but too bad Undisputedā€™s ratings hasnā€™t. I canā€™t understand the words coming out of Lil Wayneā€™s mouth and Keyshawn has zero charisma.

Denver is the best team and Jokic is the best player in the league. Heā€™s going to dominate like Shaq did in the early 2000s. I donā€™t trust Boston enough. I tried to and they always let me down. I donā€™t care what they do in the regular season. Suns won 64 games in 2022 only to lose to Dallas in the 2nd round. Regular season results means nothing to me once third week April hits.

I really want to see my Los Angeles Clippers win a championship but I donā€™t see it. Paul George can idolize Kobe Bryant but heā€™s a beta male without any winning intangibles. PG is more T-Mac than he is of Kobe. I donā€™t see the same passion and desire at winning. I donā€™t see the same mentality, approach or work ethic.

I see very skilled players getting paid too much without that same desire that Jordan and Kobe had. Like Nique and Vinsanity were great dunkers. The latter being the GOAT at it. But Vince was the Nique of his generation. He was not a winner or leader. Had some great highlights, but he didnā€™t have the same approach to the game as MJ and Kobe. Skilled and the most talented dunker but thatā€™s it. No winning intangibles.

  14. I just watched an interview with Jamal Mashburn talking to JJ Redick and he talked about the advice Michael Jordan gave him. How MJ can break down every player in the league. Like whatā€™s their tendencies? Do they go left or right?

People donā€™t give enough credit to what a basketball savant MJ was and probably still is. Itā€™s a bit ironic I say that because he obviously wasnā€™t much of a GM. But what Mashburn said was so contrasting to how some people feel about MJ as a GM. The greatest players were also the smartest players as JJ said. Itā€™s not all physical abilities. As MJ told Jamal, you have to think the game within the game.

To players like Paul George or Jayson Tatum who are missing those WINNING INTANGIBLES, not only learn how to defend your opponents by knowing their offensive tendencies but know how to counter the ones who have figured you out defensively. Skill means nothing if you are playing like a disappearing, choking dumbass like George and Harden who will brick shots and turn it over a lot late.

  15. I'm not certain if Boston's going to get past Miami, maybe the 76ers could even pull it off if and then get their tails beat by Denver. Also you can't really sleep on Cleveland at this point

  16. Porzingis will be the most important piece of Bostons puzzle against Denver, if they win, it's because he takes Jokic outta of the middle on D. He won't be able to effect him on the offensive end, but he can spread the floor. Denver can absolutely beat Boston in 7, any of the top 4 Western conferenc teams have a shot, and at least the 3 eastern conference teams I mentioned have a decent chance, but I will give Boston a solid 25 percent chance of being Champs, Denver 65 percent.

  17. I hope Denver can stay healthy. I agree that this would be a finals preview. Would be an epic series if it happens.

  18. Glad JJ did this "Finals Preview" great thing is my team isn't named so therefore that team has a better shot now! Media usually get on specific teams to get to the finals n they are wrong! Because guess what no one really knows what will happen n who will make it!
Neither the Nuggets or Celtics will make the Finals!

  19. Boston need this win more than Denver coz we already saw Denver beat them in their first home loss.
