Steve Kerr Reflects on Warriors Loss vs Spurs | March 9, 2024

Any reason why you changed your starting lineup when it was only like less than five minutes in and the game was still tied I’m sorry say it again why you change like you changed like you I guess you went to to the bench when you when

You had less than uh five minutes into the game when it was still tied why did I do that yeah um those were the uh rotations that we wanted to get to I think they hit 173s which you know they’re not a team that that hits many

Threes do you feel like those were defensive breakdowns or did you I mean were you trying to give I like the way the game started Ed you know soan hit two threes which um you don’t expect that but um I I thought our defense was really good that’s why we started uh the

Way we did with that lineup I wanted to have uh Draymond and and Trace out there together and um I think when we subbed it was nine to n our defense was fine but as the game went on we had multiple breakdowns they got to the rim at will

And um we gave up you know 28 free throws and 17 three you got to stop something and I thought they got anything they wanted all night so it was a tough night for us defensively see what was the hardest part of this game for you to to to to

Endure um all of it it was tough it was tough we just never had any traction in the game I didn’t feel like we had uh confidence or energy um I thought their pace and their uh their movement bothered us and then we had some breakdowns and just felt

Like we were never never really in the game what what do you feel like didn’t work offensively in the first half where did those struggles come from well it’s uh you know obviously it’s you know we’re playing some lineups that um haven’t played together a whole lot um

And with Steph out it changes things dramatically for us in terms of um you know what he provides not only with the shooting but the spacing and the gravity that that uh pulls defenses uh aside so they did a good job of just staying in

Front of us and um I didn’t think think we moved the ball particularly well is this are you seeing some kind of uh growing pains with the youth right now what’ you say um yeah I mean we’re we’re playing a lot of young guys we

Started two of them and um this is all part of it you know you got you have to um you have to go through multiple Seasons to really um understand the different games that are going to happen the different uh styles that you know different uh emotional swings there’s

All all of that has to be experienced by young guys in order to develop and grow and understand how to win so that’s yeah it’s it’s all part of it Steve Jonathan was really able to get you going and it’s to start the fourth quarter and

Attack the rim and but it seemed like even when you got a little momentum they they seem to answer with a big shot or or did something just tough to to make a stop after some of those those good stretches yeah we didn’t we just didn’t ever establish anything defensively they

Shot 51% from the floor and from three got to the foul line so we you know we just never quite um you know got Traction in the game defensively which um allowed them you know every time we tried to make a run they’d hit a three

They’d hit another three and uh you know it’s back to 12 15 so which couldn’t get there you mentioned the spacing and gravity without step um I assume that’s why you played clay to start the second half and how much do you need to sort of create that space for Jonathan and

Others to to operate yeah I mean that’s you know we’ve been starting the way we have over the last six weeks um because of the impact that uh that Steph has for um JK um you know getting downhill and um wigs you know same thing so without

Him there’s there aren’t as many driving lanes for sure so it’s it’s different and that’s why I didn’t just plug Chris in for St and keep the same starting lineup I felt like we needed to do something different so my main motivation for the starting lineup was

To get off to a great defensive start I wanted to set a tone with a really good defensive lineup see uh see how we could score uh it was a little bit of a struggle to score first five minutes I think as I said I think it was nine to

Nine but I liked I liked the defense I wanted that tone set but we couldn’t maintain it how much can clay sort of provide that gravity yeah I mean does obviously but um you know modern NBA um you know the way everybody plays you get um you know you need you need multiple

Spacers to really open up the floor and um unfortunately the last couple games we we just haven’t been able to knock down shots and and do that what have you seen from Andrew just since he got back the last few games here um you know he

Hasn’t been at his best but um you know he’s getting his rhythm and timing back I’m glad he got to 26 minutes and uh hopefully that’ll help them for the road trip thank you

  1. Trade your future picks for a player who has a caliber of a borderline all-star. Your team always rely to Steph that it makes your team sucks without him. JK, Podz, TJD, and Moody are enough to continue this team's legacy. Don't waste Curry's remaining season. Because as I can see that Steph is not part of the dynasty, he is the dynasty.

  2. Who gave this man 2 more years seriously major L on the whole organisation they ain’t winning another ring unless this man goes

  3. Spurs showed how bad and dumb the GSW head coach Steve Kerr is !! He can’t make an adjustment and put a good game plan!

  4. Steve Kerr is worthless without Curry! WTF Steve Kerr, 35million $$$ and you cant get a win against SPURS!! He’s f!!!nkn dumb!!!!

  5. Coach Kerr needs to speak with more confidence/swagger.
I understand being humble, especially after 4 championships. But this team needs an edge and it needs to start with him.
Similar to how Coach Malone speaks for Denver. Kerr is just so disgustingly passive and the team is sinking, year-by-year.
Absolutely no REASON why the Bulls nor the Spurs should come into the Warriors' home ground and win.

  6. Great Game Klay Thompson!!! Sooo impressive!! Balling out of control! Love Klay Thompson so much all time favorite player!!!

  7. It's nothing new ever team that' play us even sorry as teams they all was play the best wen the play gsw cuz they Kno who been running shit in still can gsw all was relax wen it came to weaker team big facts

  8. 3 leg parley and lost on the least likely game of said parley, only a $1000. No big deal to the these guys that take nights off for rest and lose a game to a team they should best 10 out 10 times; even without old streaky Steph!!! Thanks boys!!!😢

  9. Way too much Podz, way yoo much. He's just concerned about his stats and never been a good ball distributor. Yeah he got several assist, to who curry only. Wiggs wad open Podz, he's open but instead you drive tonthe basket for your stats. Rebound yeah you did that, but what make it happen, your teammates, body blocking inside and you're free for tebound. Lol way too much podz, can't even defend.

  10. Gp3 should be getting minutes over Podz!! Saric is a disappointment!! Kerr still looking for rotations 3/4 into the season!! Klay too inconsistent. Looney is irrelevant! More Moody. Need more from Dray. It's not looking good for this year!! Maybe next year we'll invest in a True 7footer!! I wouldn't mind Jaren Jackson Jr from Memphis.

  11. i can't believe what i saw this game totally pathetic & disaster beat them by 1 of the worse team this season .. what i don't like this game is their defense they focus inside but outside are more open.. which is totally wrong..& kerr being stubbornness & out coach again

  12. The white boy needs to be benced. Why does he play more minutes than everyone. How many rings does the white boy have. He treats him like he is the one that has the 4 rings and Klay is just a rookie. Kerr needs to go!!!!!!

  13. Can someone tell me why the warriors don't have decent vets on this team? People that are solid hit shots, play solid defense, but just not starz. Like a bobby Portis or carter from the bulls, hes been on like 5 teams, hes solid. Warriors could use him. LAC rolled out like 3 big men. Warriors dont have one? Kornet from Boston? Do the warriors know how to recruit? Whos in management pulling the strings. Warriors you to have guys like Livingston, west, Barbosa, mo speights on the bench, solid vets. These kids aren't ready. The lack of energy from younger guys bother me because you should be full of energy is all im saying

  14. 1. Podz has hit rookie wall
    2. JK needs to stay aggressive like the 4th from quarter 1. We need his acoring and penetration.
    3. Kerr needs to run more plays for JK
    4. Wigs has to start, he prob best perimeter defender on team.
    5. Prob need heavy diet of Pick and Roll for CP3 to get best out of team.
    6. Stop playing Lester.
    7. Dray is good but its obvious he gets winded pretty quick and doesnt want to close out. Not this yr, but next he should prob come off the bench. And we need a true big, enough with these small ball lineups Kerr.
    8. Kerr rotations sucked. Was putting random groups out there searching. We near end of season, and he hasnt figured out who to play together and who not?
    9. Kerr worst yr of coaching. Worst then the james wiseman lottery yr.
    10. Highest paid roster in nba history, and you lose to worst team in nba?? Makes no sense all. Gotta break it up.

  15. Kerr has become a liability because of his stubbornness, sentimentality, and inability to coach defense. The Dubs have lost 12 straight overtime games. They regularly give up huge leads, and can't win close games against good teams. That's all a reflection of horrible coaching. Last night, Kerr had a good starting lineup, although I would have started Klay instead of Podz. When the score was 9-9, Kerr pulled TDJ and Kuminga and put in CP3 and Klay. That led to disaster. And, what's up with Draymond? Defensive savant? More like defensive zombie. Watch the defense in last night's game. Dray was lost, as lost as the others. Embarrassing, but par for the course with a Kerr coached team these days. When Mike Brown left, the defense left with him.

  16. With Curry out.. why not just put CP3 or Klay in the lineup instead of going with inserting a lineup that have not played together. Why is Loon out of the rotation when he studies the defense. Time to go with vets to see if you can off that 10th spot😊

  17. Look at all these fake fans jumping off of the bandwagon. Just the slightest misstep and you have these phonies demanding people be fired and traded.

  18. Is it just me or was Kerr incredibly aggressive in the way he answered that first question on why he went away from the staters 5 minutes in? Like "how dare you challenge my decision making"

  19. Steve Kerr—-“I like the way game started”, did you like the game ended!!!That’s the 35million $$$ dumb head coach talking!!!🤬

  20. It is so dangerous to base an entire team on One Player…. Steph Curry. If he gets hurt, can the ship float. In the old days there were veterans that kept the boat moving. The Young ones seem so lost without Curry. It's like they need a strong hands on coach. Maybe this is a defining uniting moment for them NOW so if they make in the post season they will be stronger. Just hoping.
