Opportunities for Kevin Ali for rotations for combinations and maybe this could be the start of something for the Brooklyn Nets now again you temper it right when we talk about playing the Philadelphia 76ers and getting a win there’s no Joel embiid listen we’re going to take the win anyway that we can

Stagnation right if you think about this game being a 92 to 86 game against the Memphis Grizzlies we we would all have a different energy here so you think about the things that went well for Brooklyn tonight and where they tried to get themselves back on track now

Interestingly enough uh Mel Bridges here still struggled from Beyond The Arc we know they shot just 177% in that loss to the Minnesota T Timberwolves over the weekend but you like that you get Schroeder getting back on track here three of four from deep that cam Thomas

We talk about the injury but three of five from Beyond The Arc for him right three of eight for Lonnie Walker when he came in cam Johnson man I I would have thought because as these games start to move along and it’s a blowout you’re watching for a couple of little moments

Here and trying to pick up on some nice subplots to a game like this because the third and fourth quarter start to wear a little bit thin in terms of real narratives here when you know that these teams are starting to wave a little bit of the White Flag although we’ll discuss

The third quarter here as well cam Johnson just two a six from Deep for some reason I would have thought it was better I would have thought that this was more impressive overall by the end of this game bottom line being though 35 almost 36% from Beyond The Arc guess

What you’re going to take that Victory because the Nets have really been struggling from there 15 of 42 a lot of narratives play themselves out that you expect Memphis is not a good shooting team overall just 38.7 from the field only 26.9 27% from Beyond the arc on 7

To 26 so all those things come to fruition the Nets are still going to lose free throw battles they got into foul trouble uh in the bonus there in the second half of this one significantly in the third quarter to the point where Mel Bridges was shouting

Out stop for the love of God fouling people like let’s just let these plays work themselves out if they’re going to get Buckets they’re going to get Buckets but at the end of the day you get 32 assists on 44 made field goals that’s back to a core identity for this team

Right they win the rebounding battle 46 to 40 they get out in transition something that was starting to get lost for this team in recent games 26 to nine fast break points 54 to 38 in the paint taking care of Memphis in that category as well we mentioned 24 fouls to 13 my

Goodness but also the largest lead just in case you needed it 30 points here for the Brooklyn Nets and the last one I want to make sure I hit on here 10 turnovers 11 turnovers in the game against the Timberwolves now again that’s a loss so you don’t really care

As much about some of those you know little bonus stats that make you feel good but just 10 turnovers in this game does make you feel good play clean basketball protect the ball and have some quality sets here so on a on a very high level you just want to get off the

Skid you just want to get yourself back onto a winning way and by the way as we think about this from a big picture here before we talk about some things inside of this game that I think are buildable for the Brooklyn Nets including what did

We see without Ben Simmons being on the court you go over and you think about the fact that you remain now 22 and 35 you’re still sitting there trailing obviously Atlanta for that final spot but Trey young now he’s going to be out whether or not we think this team is

Deserving of making the play in tournament you’re still going to want to have your eye on that prize right so you keep yourself there you keep yourself one game better than Toronto in the Lost column right now and you find yourselves three back of that final spot listen

These are these are bonus narratives when it comes to what the agenda of the rest of the season should be for Brooklyn but it matters nonetheless get the W get yourself trending in the right direction beyond that just from a high level here when we talk about this game

Already mentioned you see that male Bridges uh struggled obviously from Beyond The Arc you also saw a couple of guys who got into some better categories here looking at uh Nicholas claxon who started out very strong in this game and then kind of faded with some of the foul

Troubles as it worked its way through he only ends up playing 21 minutes you start to be able to get into managing workloads here but feather in the cap for Dorian finy Smith clearly ramping up over these last couple of games we wondered about the minute and workload

For him coming back from injury so that’s a very good sign obviously and then you still get car out roles here um for Dennis Smith Jr 14 minutes Lonnie Walker mentioned his three-point shooting 19 minutes for him so we’re still trying to get a sense of if Kevin

Oi is going to change anything dramatically when it comes to rotations or guys getting more minutes so far it’s going to be Jaylen Wilson we don’t get to talk about him tonight because the Nets got the victory but by and large you’re seeing some consistency here when

To come off the bench here and I want to get to him because I actually liked a lot about what he did in his game tonight plus 13 coming off the bench as was Lonnie Walker a big plus 16 for him so I want to get to him too but you end

Up sticking with Dennis schroer in this scenario because you want to have a little more shooting a little more ball handling obviously you need to try to balance out this starting unit when you’re talking about a Dorian finy Smith a Nicholas claxon obviously at the five

And then even male Bridges not a pure ball handler gu gonna someone’s going to excuse me take anybody off the dribble necessarily just setting the table right cam Thomas you want to be able to free him up to get into his rhythm and find his way when you look obviously in a

Blowout every begin to be massive pluses but double digit scoring for everybody across the board in this game now you could say m Bridges 31 minutes just four of 10 one of seven from deep and only 11 points you you could be concerned with that I’m choosing not to be because you

Got 13 points from Dorian finny Smith even though he went one of four from Deep six of 10 from the field you got 10 points from Nicholas CLA and I mentioned a funky line for him because he has those four personal fouls but he has the

Three blocks did a lot of good things early in this game only ends up having having to play 21 minutes 18 points for Schroeder here getting back into the good graces after he had a great debut for Brooklyn kind of cooled off there 18 points LED all scorers in this game and

Then 14 for cam Thomas again on just 29 minutes so everything gets a little bit shrunk down here in muddled because it’s a blowout win but you have to appreciate that a cam Thomas line five of4 not perfect from the field by any stretch but three of five from deep as we

Mentioned at the top also gave you five assists in this one came away with one steal the assists are always going to be something we want to come back to him and schroer five as well in the assist category so you need your backourt to be able to do exactly this find some

Opportunities for those other three players on the court whether it’s getting out in transition whether it’s finding Nicholas Clon in and around the basket or finding some of the opportunities with male Bridges and Dorian finny Smith now we go the layer deeper here let’s start with actually

Because Ben Simmons is off the floor so he only ends up playing 14 minutes and he only ends you know 14 minutes three assists six rebounds Four Points okay but there was something that I think came a little bit to fruition here when you see that as we talk about the box

Score that Ben Simmons has those three assists in this game obviously when he’s on the court he’s going to be someone wants to push the tempo a little bit more wasn’t as aggressive in that category here with the leg soreness probably not playing it 100% if he ever

Is but when you go and look at fast break points and sees 26 to9 well there’s something there and Schroeder may actually be a component of this when we think about trying to have that consistency and Rhythm and the big takeaway for me again against the Memphis Grizzlies we understand the

Roster that they went against here but my big takeaway is that while Ben Simmons and that that Tempo that he wants to play out and getting out in transition is a great version of this team and you surround him with Shooters it’s a big benefit and you can dump in

Buckets and when the the shots are going down obviously from the outside you you can feel like you can win a lot of games but you know that it has its flaws you know that when it gets down into the half court sets he becomes a little bit

Lost there was a good example that pulls in now cam Johnson here to this discussion as well where Ben Simmons was working some off ball actions couple of back door cuts and it was cam Johnson that found him I think on a boun bounce past feed going towards the rim now only

A handful of possessions later though when Ben Simmons has the ball he triggers it passes it off and effectively drifts into the corner something that we’ve seen consistently on offensive ends when it’s not transition basketball for the Nets he just kind of becomes a man out in space

He’s no threat to shoot from the outside as we understand and even worse than that if you’re on there with Nicholas Claxton or you’re on there with drron sharp that’s one thing sometimes when you start to mix and match these lineups a little bit differently as you started

To do because of some of the injuries and coming back here tonight well where’s the rebounding coming from then right if you have Dorian finy Smith out on the floor with you okay he can be on the interior but I I if Cam Johnson if Lonnie Walker if male Bridges you know

Depending on these combinations we’re talking about more second unit really tonight when we think about those 21 minutes if you’re going to talk about Dennis Smith Jr Lonnie Walker being out there if you’re G to talk about cam Johnson coming off the bench Dron sharp maybe you know these combinations Ben

Simmons needs to be an impact player when it comes to the glass so I I I I like the idea that there are these different ways for this team to start to show some success on the offensive end that either one of two things can be transition basketball without Ben

Simmons having to be the Catalyst for it or can be successful in the half court and the reason why I think even transition basketball with Ben Simmons on the floor but not where he is the trigger man is another positive potentially is what I mentioned there

With Cam Johnson well if you can get out there in transition and Ben Simmons can be running like we think about a Nicholas Claxton usually getting out on the wing right creating a little bit of space cutting in towards the basket and trying to get some of those easy feeds

Those alley oops well that’s as big a benefit as anything that Ben Simmons is going to do on the ball and the difference is is that if he’s going towards the basket then he’s there maybe to collect his own Miss maybe for a putback opportunity maybe it starts to

Pull out some of the larger Defenders from the paint and then it allows some back door Cuts some baseline runs here from other smaller guards where it’s just an easy lay up and in right so I want to pull out that type of possibility here that it can’t be just

Enough for the Brooklyn Nets to have beaten up on a bad team and had Ben Simmons coming off of his injury mild injury and needed to mix things up just to get the job done I needed to be that you saw what was happening here in this starting five and you understand it’s

Okay to say we need to break up these minutes of Claxton and Ben Simmons we need to find ways to maybe have Ben Simmons help elevate a second unit of players and I’ll be very curious if we can carry this over at all can we say

That if Cam Johnson who’s had a not so great season we all admit that who a lot of fans feel like is not worth that contract we all probably agree with that if Cam Johnson can be left in the second unit as he’s worked his way back from

Injury if Schroeder can overtake that role if you’re GNA stick with Nicholas Clon as I think you should in the starting unit and male Bridges and cam Thomas then why can’t Ben Simmons go to the second unit why can’t he be a part of that and we’ve looked at day Ron

Sharp also coming off of injury as we know so but he’s played now 15 minutes in this game again blowouts going to skew it a little bit but we’re talking about a player who in his return has had 9 13 16 12 15 right so You’ seen a decrease he’s under 13

Minutes here in the month of February coming back from the injury he was almost 16 minutes in January he was 17 minutes in December so you understand how these things were were growing and then dwindled as the season moved along listen it’s just it’s a reality of how

This team is built and that’s okay but you have to allocate minutes accordingly and maybe it just ends up being exactly how it looked tonight where none of these guys are going to run heavy minutes outside of Nicholas Claxton where he’s been getting closer obviously to 30 plus night overnight but if it’s

Going to be Ben Simmons 20 minutes a night and it’s going to be dayon sharp 15 minutes a night and they equal that version of another five another non-sh shooting big that have different skill sets so be it because I got to find a way to get to winning basketball and you

Certainly got a good sample of that tonight understanding the competition you win against now cam Johnson again here I want to touch on him before we close out on cam and the nature of the way this next season has gone you have a blowout win but of course somebody has

To get hurt right cam Johnson 25 minutes five of nine two of six from Deep three assists here 12 points a plus 13 I just I liked the way he played though not even on the offensive end which was good defensively I thought he was playing a better more aggressive style of

Basketball on the defensive end took a massive charge in the paint at one at one stretch here in the second half obviously and just seems to be playing a little bit more of an aggressive style of basketball and that matters relative to Dorian ffy Smith being healthy and

That also matters to having these roster combinations be spread out according to size as well again we know who the matchup is here but if I put Nicholas Claxton and Ben Simmons in a starting lineup together well then I’m I’m taking one size away from that second unit in

Any capacity and I’m also taking away a shooter if I break those two players up and I spread out my Shooters across both units then as I I said this before then cam Johnson can start to benefit on both ends let’s go ahead and not have him

Necessarily having to play up a matchup if I have Ben Simmons and sometimes flexing let’s say this is why I’ve mentioned Jaylen Wilson before and why his size could be useful here but if I have Nicholas Clon and Dorian finy Smith in the starting unit that tandem Works

Itself down if I put Ben Simmons in the second unit even if he overlaps sometimes with dronar sharp even if he overlap sometimes with Dorian finy Smith then I can have Cam Johnson slide down the defensive responsibility scale here so I think you can be a little more

Effective there get to his spots position a little bit better that charge he took was off of I think Dennis Smith Jr maybe running him towards the basket just forcing that body into a body he has the basketball IQ now you need to get him into best positions to be

Successful here 13 points listen it’s not breaking any barns here but we do need him to have a role if the team’s going to be successful in the short and long term so maybe we opened up a possibility here when it comes to rotations maybe we opened up some

Possibilities here in seeing cam Johnson get himself into some sense of a rhythm over the back end of this season positives positives positives positives but in a second let’s take a little bit of a moment here and have a conversation about some of the negatives that we did

Comes to the Brooklyn Nets and it comes to the latter stages of this season is hey it it may not matter as much about getting across the Finish Line right we talked about this with male Bridges Doug brought this up saying like you know at a certain point you just need to cap

Male Bridges right manage his minutes because if in the offseason you’re going to pursue something you’re going to make a big swing if at some point you’re going to say um you know we want to pursue a superstar and Mel bridge is going to be important piece of that then

Yeah it does matter to keep some tread off the tires for a guy like cam Thomas listen you want him back you want them developing but but I think at some point you do take that into account here too you look at where you are in the

Standings you look at where you are in terms of of the the expectations going towards the play in tournament potentially if he needs an extra three games off you give him the extra three games if he’s ready to come back he’s ready to come back just like with Ben

Simmons by the way like that’s a whole different frustration level around him it’s not his fault but the health has always been certainly a talking point with him hey if the leg sess was going to keep him out tonight it was going to keep him out tonight I wasn’t going to

Feel great about it but it is what it is so I’ll be fascinated to see what we get there and then if he’s out obviously as we’ve talked about before the Brooklyn Nets are a team that that need every single score available to them two scorers in cam Johnson and Lonnie Walker

Tonight Off the Bench giving you double digits we mentioned all five of the starting unit in double digits as well and that might be the nicest thing that we can do here actually there’s two things we need to do here keep you let you know that we’ll keep you the loop

Obviously on cam Thomas and expectations going forward for his injury it’s the Bittersweet thing of you win a basketball game but of course the Brooklyn Nets can only have this they can only have a version of it where you always seem to get For Better or Worse

These injuries that then allow you to make different decisions around rotations happened with jock vaugh happened with Kevin olly right Ben Simmons probably in the starting rotation if he doesn’t have the leg soreness that keeps him out for a while has to give it a go and finds himself on

A minutes restriction but maybe it opens up other possibilities let’s though pivot here and close out on an extra positive that’s Dory Andy Smith because I said it was good that he got back on the floor and gave you 25 minutes and 13 points six of 10 from the field but then

Nine rebounds for him right he did that work in and around the glass on both ends four offensive five defensive he gave you four assists in this game too came up with one block to go along with it so you know for a player like that

Who actually did lead everyone here in a plus 23 on the margins for a player like that to give you the well-rounded stat line unlike say cam Johnson where you say we want to be closer to 20 points than to 10 Dorian FY Smith in 25 minutes giving you 13 and

The rebounds and the assists that really does matter and when you go through this category here’s also something that I like we’ll we’ll avoid any of the guys that came in here in the garbage times the watford’s the Wilsons the Bates deop but three assists for cam Johnson two

Assists for Dron sharp three for Ben Simmons three for Dennis Smith Jr two for Lonnie Walker and then as we mentioned earlier back in the starting lineup there Thomas and schroer five a piece three for Claxton two for Bridges four for Dorian finny Smith to be able

To put together 32 assists but not have any one individual player be over five that that can be a little bit of a thread to pull on here for Kevin Oly that the offensive end of the floor is is maybe if they can carry it over to

The next game is maybe starting to find a rhythm where getting guys into good positioning here is affording players to make the right reads and get other teammates into easy looks at the basket I mentioned about that Ben Simmons cutting action we saw a hand F of these

Opportunities here some of the drives into the paint came with a little bit less of a frenetic energy in either direction I have to go at the basket or I’m kind of probing and then I’m going to pull myself out because I’m not really sure which direction I’m going

With this it’s driving the paint gaining the access forcing the defensive attention and then making the decision off of that right Distributing the perimeter there were good second and third passes coming off some driving kick looks that led to open perimeter shots for this team too so when you play

A team like the men menis Grizzlies in the state that they’re currently in you better believe I want to see some of the fundamental things going well it did they had some of those fundamentals go well tonight so you take the Victory and now you say apply it to Orlando doesn’t

Mean you’re going to win that game it’s going to be a whole different battle but apply the exact same mentality and the exact same approach that you had in this game against Memphis and there’s mentioned on the broadcast a lot of times I like to watch the alternate

Broadcast to see the way they discuss things and they said hey this is an opportunity for a statement game for the Memphis Grizzlies is a young team playing a lot of Scrappy guys and the Brooklyn Nets are vulnerable as it moved along to their credit the announcers

Flipped that script and said guess what it’s also a statement game for the Brooklyn Nets when you look at the roster you see the names you see the talent you say well they should be better than maybe what the record is and this is a team you should beat up on and

They went out and did that tonight we’ll see where Cam Thomas stands obviously as we go towards the Orlando game tomorrow night we’ll continue to pull on some of these narratives around hey where do we go from here with these rotations because I’ve liked a lot of what I’ve

Seen I still don’t love when they’re playing these these three incredibly small player lineups with Schroeder and Thomas and Dennis Smith Jr I still don’t like that I’m not seeing Jaylen Wilson here but it does seem like Jaylen Wilson trendon Watford you guys have been put

Six-man and then it’s hard to put other guys into starting rotations nevertheless uh my holy king what do I rate cam Thomas as a defensive player I think he’s improved I think that he showed a dedication on that end of the floor I think the areas that he’s gotten

Better at is he has done a far better job of being the easy one is engaged right ju just not not not lagging on closing out on Perimeter Shooters but I think he’s even learned he’s learned a lot this season because a lot of times it wasn’t about his effort it was about

The IQ do I know where I need to be am I effectively rotating am I switching correctly am I fighting over top or under screen screens when I need to be so I think the effort has certainly been there I I wouldn’t I wouldn’t put him

You know he’s not a plus Defender he’s going to be the guy that every single team wants to switch on Brian large when he’s on the floor right so he’s going to be the guy that gets picked on there but I do think you can also continue to

Build he can build that up on that end and if you play pesky defense if you play smart defense and if you use what is he is a low center of gravity you know kind of player he has some meat to him then I’ve actually looked this up

Going back to the start of the year he um he does a pretty good job affecting Shooters going towards the basket so positionally he does a decent job um so yeah listen he’s he’s a young he’s a young player learning on the defensive end it’s never going to be the

First thing you talk about with him and he still has a long way to go I’ll put it that way uh let’s go ahead and see what else did we have here at lockon nets what do you got here we have the two we have the two best

True centers yes or no have to keep them do you mean Nicholas claxon and Dron sharp do you mean Ben Ben Simmons is in that group right he’s like a point forward something or rather he’s not a true Center um I no I know you mean I

Know you mean Claxton and sharp um I really like what sharp has developed his game into obviously the injury slowed him down a little bit and and then obviously one of the two of them if you were going to run with those guys going forward one contract in the off season

For Claxton what’s that number going to look like have to take it into account have to take into account what the long-term plans are you can see when you have a player anything in the near mold of a Ben Simmons another non-shooter makes the offense really have a lot of

Issues right so that’s going to be a problem if you’re GNA have Claxton even going to next season when we think about sim Simmons at least in that shortterm span so what is the long-term plan for this team can you put Nicholas Clon into a role that continues to elevate what

His value is defensive versatility switchability Elite shop blocker Elite athleticism and timing around the basket on the defensive end right I think Dron still there is still this world to me where a shooting game for him can develop I don’t see that being on the table for Nicholas Claxton I do

See that being on the table for Dron sharp he’s probably another year away from seeing fruition on that but but we’re getting into a weird territory here now where he’s a what you know 15 to 20 minute player high energy rebounder but these are for different reasons they’re complimentary pieces

Depending on the type of roster that you’re constructing which is why people have a concern around how much are you gonna have to pay Nicholas Claxton and what is what is it goingon to look like two years from now who’s still G to be

On this roster I I I would keep claxon I don’t think the price point is going to be too insanely high and I think it’ll be interesting to see how they build going forward what it looks like next trade deadline when we think about what are they going to do with Ben Simmons

Are they letting that you know play itself out does he stay healthy enough can they eat some money and blah blah blah I don’t think any of those things being viable options but it does become fascinating for this offseason certainly from nater stopping that two-on-one fast break might be my

Favorite play of the Season yeah listen there were a lot of nice little plays um inside of this game that you could pull from here for the Brooklyn Nets going both directions so I think it’s um it’s good to see if we if we want to think about what Kevin Oly is

Trying to instill even on an interm level I think it’s good to see some of those things coming into Focus here in a game like this again Memphis Grizzlies put it in context um Adam thought I I see this up here I’m not sure Adam thoughts on this off seon

Houston has right now once we get our own control back 27 28 think 29 29 I think the first year until then this is the team we have we’re going to try to be as competitive as possible GNA try be a midlevel maybe upper eastern conference top four kind of seed you can

Go that route I don’t know if that’s ultimately what they should do I think that they should be a little bit more conscious around something we mentioned Houston offered everything back they offered everything back for Mel Bridges it’s not a knock on Mel Bridges not not about not liking Mel Bridges but that

Was all all the control in the world and then if you had done that you could make more active decisions now where none of these losses would really be feel bad at all because you’d be keeping yourself in that lottery I know people say this is a

Bad draft class okay it doesn’t mean you can’t get a really good player still in the top end of the draft doesn’t mean you can’t make other decisions like wanting to trade for a star player potentially if you have a lottery pick in this draft it might not be the most

Analyzing lottery pick but it’s certainly going to be more attractive than not having any pick at all to offer somebody over the next couple of Seasons that you have control of and you can dictate the value of to that extent um I saw something else

Once upon a time although that dream feels a little more says I I’ve been on a pendulum a lot with this team um because they’ve been really frustrating but as long as that thing is still on the table making the play in tournament then it still does

Becomes interesting I you know Lonnie Walker might be just the obvious one to give you to give you the scoring punch to give you the perimeter shooting some of that explosiveness um but but if you want to go you know if you want to flip it and talk about hierarchy you can pull

Cam Johnson back up into that starting lineup and then actually kind of make yourself a little bit a little bit bigger in that way and leave Scher there as your pure on ball point guard you’d probably have a couple of options there I you know again if Thomas goes out and

Then we get back into the Ben Simmons into the starting lineup that would that would certainly frustrate me and then Dennis Smith Jr would be your other option I mean any combin is going to be a small back court that that’ss have all these small back court guys but if you

Put Dennis Smith Jr in there then it opens up some options because he can facilitate he can set the table you can use him and Schroeder in tandem on ball off ball the problem there being Denis M Jr obviously not a shooter not gonna be an outside shooter so you don’t want to

Fall down too much there but you still have Bridges you’d still have Dorian finny Smith in that starting unit as well so you would have enough there in terms of outside Shooters and scoring and balance I would lean one of those two one of those two players it kind of

Doesn’t matter to me which way you want to go in some ways especially if you kept Simmons in the second unit then I can like having Lonnie Walker there because I want to keep having those Shooters so if I keep rounding my thoughts on it pulling D this might you

Know don’t hold me to this but pulling danis Smith Jr up into the starting unit and keeping a Simmons with a Lonnie Walker with a cam Johnson again they don’t want to use Jaylen Jaylen Wilson but I would use Jaylen Wilson that second unit too or you know mix and

Match like that I think you want to try to make sure you create the balance of Shooters if you’re going to keep Ben Simmons out of this starting unit in the short term so but a good question to have here and as always man Clash frequent flyer um yeah well by the way

I’m gonna use this right here as my um as my jump off for this other thing right so we talk about the different combinations if Cam Thomas was going to be out if you’re going to keep Ben Simmons out of the starting rotation we said this before when you’re coming off

A win you don’t get too critical but but again now Watford has always kind of had his role even going back to JV I think he should play more but it’s been defined in consistent throughout the year Jaylen Wilson getting put all the way to the back of the line here and

Only getting garbage time minutes continues to be a head scratcher like and even a game like this where you are blowing them out it’s you could even pull the CT a little bit sooner here and give them some more extended run but that last game against Boston 19 minutes

That he played in there um you’re talking about you know the last time that he played double digits last time he played any minutes of meaning 19 minutes there and I even a lot of those might end up being garbage time I have to go back and remember because they

Were obviously getting blown out in that game but but what more can a player do he shot two of five in that game three of four three of four three of eight three of seven going back down the table throughout the month of February but the perimeter shooting two or three that’s

His model give me three I’m GNA make two right so he’s a player again that then when you look at how about four three six and four rebounds right knows for the basketball 3322 in terms of assists over those four games there like these are the these are the things that I

Think you cannot look at and look away from and it extends to trendon Watford a little bit I think that Watford actually still has a bit of an erratic nature to his game right so the more that he gets himself going is sometimes it’s turnovers maybe it’s sometimes a little

Bit of Reckless foul and we’re not always against that get you sometimes you just need energy guys Jaylen Wilson has shown himself to be able to be both an energy guy and a guy that plays controlled smart basketball so he helps in a lot of these instances like he

Should be a guy that gets folded in here if Cam Thomas is not going to be available you it’s not just a one for one how do you replace him it needs to be how does this team replace him collectively and Jaylen Wilson has shown himself to be able to be a contributor

On that level so I’d like to see him get a little more opportunity there as well scanning through here um let’s go ahead and grab this the Brooklyn way do you think Ali should have set the starters earlier in the game tonight oh sat the starters sorry

Set the starters yeah I know this is the other thing too so at what point does Cam Thomas get injured should he have even been out there on the court I I would say for a coach interm coach looking for his first win and also looking to get to squeeze as much good

Energy out of of what this team was accomplishing you want to let these guys run right you want them all to get the Good Vibes and you’re also trying to you’re also trying to implement some new things here right you’re also trying to work these combinations so you know

Whether you’re relating it to the fact that there was an injury to cam Thomas in this one or just that how long do you run these guys I mean listen let’s go remember go back to the box score here nobody inside of this starting unit for the Brooklyn Nets played anything more

29 minutes was cam Thomas right so that’s the one you’re pointing to right you play him 25 minutes then maybe doesn’t get hurt but it’s 2621 31 for Bridges 25 for Dorian finy Smith you know again blowouts by the way one thing I didn’t get to the show here I forgot

To get to it in the third segment remember in the third quarter the Nets were doing absolutely nothing for a large chunk to start that third quarter and they ended up that ended up being 2623 quarter in the third in favor of Memphis but it had like that thing where

You go okay like let’s not get into this like this funky world right just to be clear 3018 in the first quarter 3622 in the second quarter the Memphis Grizzlies won the second half by one point but they won 26 to 23 in the third and then obviously we understand garbage time

2220 Nets still won the fourth quarter but you know leads leads come and go this team this team needed every ounce of Good Vibes off of it so I’m not really gonna to scoff too much at the idea of you know how long you play these

Guys and trying to get the most out of it uh what do we have here the ankle roll was a fluke nothing to do with minutes could have happened yeah and and that’s that’s usually the thing you come back to here right like injuries happen

And whether or not it’s a great way to frame it you know whether it happens in the first minute or happens in the 29th minute of someone being on the court there there’s no predicting that it’s only because it happens in the 29th minute that you associate it with well

They shouldn’t have been out there right um beyond that man well I gotta tell you sometimes I feel like I have a better rhythm in the uh in the post podcast just kind of just kind of rolling around through these ones I appreciate everybody obviously that came in

Of these players need to be at an elite level at on the offensive end for this team to have a chance to win a lot of games and win games against full strength teams but but M you know m is not that guy like he has not shown himself to be

That guy we’ve seen instances late in games and hitting clutch free throws he sometimes has struggled there that’s okay but but rounding this team into form over the course of this season can also illuminate from them from the net standpoint this is why we we think we

Need to Shawn Mar we need that’s why we’re want to be able to pursue a star right because we get a star on this team and now the pecking order shifts now you say well let’s use Donovan Mitchell okay he’s the number one offensive option and

Then it’s it’s two and and you know and 2A with with Cam Thomas and male Bridges okay so now it’s a little bit further down the pecking order there and now he gets to lock in a little bit more defensively and now his value gets to

Increase overall so I I don’t think that I I don’t think he’s been letting them down I just think it’s a reality of of who he is as a player where his game is and it’s the overall flaws of this roster it’s not a perfectly constructed

Team even in the version where he is your best player the the rest of this cast would be constructed way differently if you said let’s clear out this roster male Bridges is your number one now how would you construct a roster to best suit to fit around him it would

Not be what they currently have be some of these guys but it would be a lot more ball handlers a lot more on ball creators right and obviously any team you’d want to have stretch big someone who can space out that floor obviously from the perimeter as well that’s have

Three non-shooter in that capacity time and time again do I think uh and then I’ll get to you icean do I think uh Mark days are number wait and see you know I’m very curious you know for example if the Nets lost every single game from here to the

End of the season then you’d say well it’s easy to say that his days should be numbered right so results matter a little bit in that regard it’s it’s a weird combination of no matter what it feels like the net should have a a wide coaching search like Kevin olly I asked

This question what would he have to do do to earn the job without having to go to a coaching search impossible you know uh benchmarks were set for him you know go go into the make the playoffs and win a playoff series likely make the make the playoffs

As an ath seed and then go Beat Boston right and I and I don’t disagree with that but it’s this weird combination though right so we don’t believe that that Kevin Oly is going to be the long-term coach but then we want we’re want to J judge Shawn marks over the

Remainder of the season I think this offseason becomes IAL right no indication that his days are numbered right now I think it depends on which direction this team is going how they finish out this season and what is the narrative and agenda for this off season are they going for the superstars do

They land that Superstar do they swing and miss or not right so it’s interesting but he he’s been fairly you know Shan Teflon Mars has done a pretty good job of still keeping himself in a solid position Iceman did you like any of the offensive sets in the first quarter and running

The shot clock down to about 5 Seconds yeah listen it wasn’t perfect uh on the offensive end obviously it’s never going to be for this team but there were but I think again secondary passes were good driving kicks certainly looked better spacing looked better in ter in terms of

Knowing where you wanted to have that basketball and even on the defensive end too I’ll just I’ll remind everybody that we talked about this early in the season where we would say it seems like they’re all giving high energy it seems like they’re all dialed in but sometimes

Frenetic energy can can look like you know good defensive effort when it’s really just high energy running around without really having an agenda I thought they played passing Lanes better in this game I thought that they they you know they trusted their assignments a little bit better in this game so

Again are are we seeing right are we seeing a better Direction here from this team even if it’s an interm coach um with the with the you know short-term leash but trying to Showcase that there are better versions of this team as currently constructed this look like a
