The Sixers WORST Nightmare…

The Sixers WORST Nightmare…

The Philadelphia 76ers are in an incredibly interesting situation right now with the potential return of Joel embiid to the end of the season and a very interesting offseason coming up for them as well the Sixers are one of the most intriguing teams in the entire

League right now so as of right now as of the recording of this video Joel embiid says that he is going to return to the Sixers this season regardless of what the record is regardless of what the playoff situation is regardless of when he returns he’s going to come back

If he’s healthy and he’s going to try and play and prior to his injury the Sixers were one of the best teams in the league he was playing at an MVP level and clearly him returning to the team makes them a a true threat in the Eastern Conference and one of the better

Teams in the conference despite how much they’ve struggled without him on the floor but to me the interesting part of all of this is what this injury potentially means for the offseason for Philadelphia an offseason where they have a ton of question marks a ton of opportunity as well but this roster is

Probably going to look much much different once this season is over and the decisions that they make not only this offseason but the following is largely going to depend on how they look in this upcoming postseason so the biggest part of all this for Philadelphia in terms of the off season

Is when you look at their payroll next year they have Joel embiid signed to a long-term extension they have a non-g guaranteed contract with Paul Reed and that’s it they have nobody else sign longterm now Tyrese Maxi is going to get an extension so it’s not like they

Literally have you know two and a half Max cap space slots like Tyrese Maxi’s extension is there it’s in there um it’s going to happen it’s probably going to be a Max extension for Tyrese Maxi the only reason they haven’t done it is just to kind of create some flexibility uh up

Until that point but the point is Philadelphia if they renounce the rights to all their free agents that aren’t Tyrese Maxi is going to have an opportunity to bring in at least at least one Max caliber player alongside Joel embiid and Tyrese Maxi this upcoming offseason with some more

Flexibility to do even more than that in addition to potentially adding pieces in a trade and so depending on how things go this offseason or excuse me this postseason they can kind of evaluate where the roster is and where they need to potentially improve and to me there

Are two kind of options here in terms of what direction Philly could go in the offseason option number one is they could go the route of let’s go and try and get a star let’s go and try and get a guy to compliment Tyrese Max you got a

Compliment jool and beid someone that is a high caliber player there’s a couple very interesting names here some guys that I think are unlikely to leave in free agency are guys like Pascal sakam who Philadelphia was interested in at the trade deadline couldn’t make a deal I think he’s resigning uh in Indiana

Same thing with OG and anobi uh with the Knicks but depending on how the season ends with the Clippers Paul George could potentially be available that is an option demard de r rozan as a complimentary option although not exactly you know a Daryl M kind of guy

He’s certainly W and LeBron is also an option LeBron is certainly an option for Philadelphia if he does want to leave la if maybe he wants bronnie to come to uh Philadelphia whatever the case may be the Sixers the point is they’re going to have an opportunity to bring in somebody

The problem is the options aren’t fantastic if you assume that OG and noi and Pascal sakam are staying because you start looking at like Klay Thompson maybe the possibility of LeBron maybe the possibility of Paul George and it’s unfortunate because Philly is in such a good situation in terms of being able to

Add pieces um there’s just not you know multiple Max caliber guys that they’re going to potentially be fighting over which leads me to the other I think more interesting option where Philadelphia looks at their roster and they say Okay Ty Maxi is an All-Star potentially all NBA caliber player this year embiid’s

The best player in the league when he’s healthy at least an MVP caliber player depending on your opinion of Joel embiid why don’t we just fill the roster out with a ton of other guys that just complement those two skill sets why do we need another star to take the ball

Away from embid or Maxi why can’t it just be those two guys’ team they’re incredibly talented and let’s just build around them maybe we give Klay Thompson 20 $25 million a year to be the compliment alongside Tyrese Maxi maybe we go out and get a ton of wings a ton

Of floor spacing and we use our whatever it is $60 million in cap space and we get all of these complimentary pieces and build out this roster that is so uh deep and has so much versatility that it complement these two guys perfectly that’s a situation that is realistic for

Philadelphia like depending on how the season ends realistically Philadelphia could go in the offseason and say okay we’re going to grab Klay Thompson Bruce Brown and Drew holiday we’re going to add them to the team and those are our guys alongside EMB Maxi and then we’re

Going to fill out the bench with you know some ml guys and and some smaller contracts that to me is a is a really really interesting team I mean obviously it’s pretty small with those four guys alongside embiid but theoretically right like you could go with that kind of a

Path or maybe it’s just you know Drew holiday and Bruce Brown and someone else but there’s just a lot of interesting kind of middle tier free agents not super like max level multiple of those kinds of players and I’ve always kind of wanted a team to to build this way that

Doesn’t go after the third star but has the the the space to go out and just get really really high level complimentary players I mean think about like the team that Boston has built this year with porzingis and and Jaylen Brown Jason Tatum and then also oh my gosh now they

Have derck white now they have drew holiday I think Philadelphia could build a team kind of similar to that although obviously through through free agency rather than you know through the draft and traits and so if it was up to you guys you guys watching the video what

Would you rather do would you rather replace the Tobias Harris spot with like demara Rosen or someone of that caliber and then add some complimentary pieces or would you rather go out and get you know Drew holiday Bruce Brown and another piece and use that cap space in

That way because it’s great to have cap space it’s awesome that Philadelphia has planed this this way it’s kind of always been their playing again it’s the reason they didn’t do the Maxi extension it’s one of the reasons they didn’t resign James Harden last off season they always

Wanted 2024 C space but you have to actually do something with it you have to actually use the money otherwise it doesn’t actually help you unless you sign a ton of these one-year deals and so I’m curious which which kind of Lane would you guys rather go in I personally

Would much rather if the possibility exists and these guys are available I’d rather have you know Drew holiday and and a couple of other you know complimentary pieces because I think that um Maxi and Aid are are just that good you don’t really need another star

On this team now of course the problem with any of these you know situations here is you have to renounce the cap holds to all these guys right so in a situation which you are bringing in these complimentary pieces you are losing you know to buy you’re not losing

Maxi but you’re losing you know Tobias Harris and some of the other complimentary pieces but I think Sixers fans would probably be okay at this point with losing Tobias Harris but the reason all this is interesting is because Jo ID’s 29 almost 30 years old coming off of a significant injury a

Couple seasons in a row now significant injuries for him and obviously a bigger guy as great as Jo ID is I think it’s realistic that he might have like one or two years left of like Peak Joel embiid and if you’re the Sixers that’s a terrifying terrifying proposition

Because it makes this off season it frames this offseason as basically like an all-in kind of situation for them not truly Allin in terms of we need to trade all of our picks and we need to spend all of our money but if you’re going to try and capitalize on a closing window

For Championship contention to Philadelphia then this offseason is as important of an offseason as they have ever had and the decisions that we’re talking about in this video the possibility of getting a third star or getting complimentary pieces are some of the most important decisions that the

Franchise has ever had to make because embiid is incredibly important to the franchise in its history overall as well as to what they could possibly do in terms of winning a championship and I hope they make the right decisions because I want to see what MB looks like

In a in a championship Chase I want them to to maximize the possibility of what he could be and I know this sounds like a you know a really pessimistic outlook on kind of the window in Philadelphia and what id could be considering this guy was an MVP Cali player the leader

For the MVP at the time that he got hurt but typically when you’re dealing with bigger players especially lower body injury issue kind of guys the careers fall off quickly they they fall off way quicker than you want them to way quicker than you expect them to and I’m

Afraid that jol embid might be one of those guys and so interestingly for Philadelphia they have all this opportunity right in the offseason they have all this cap space they have a couple of picks that they could trade got some interesting young players but now they’re in a situation where like

This opportunity it has to be capitalized on or else right like this is very much an all in off season for them obviously depending on what they do uh in the postseason here coming up but I’m not expecting a ton from Philadelphia in the postseason because

It’s just going to be so difficult for embid to just come back be an MVP caliber guy and have them be one of the best teams in the East when he’s been gone for so long and all these other teams have been you know playing normally with all of their guys and kind

Of been you know tuning up for the postseason I find it hard to believe that they’re going to be like a real Factor on the way to the Conference Finals or anything even even if a beid does return in plenty of time and so it really does point to this offseason of

Like if they get this wrong maybe they are looking at either an embiid trade request in a year or two or just him not being the same kind of guy he still going to be good but typically these guys fall off really quickly especially guys that take as much contact as MB

Does and are as be as big as em beat is and I’m just really really intrigued by the possible offseason here coming up for Philadelphia

The Philadelphia 76ers are in a tough spot with Joel Embiid right now.

  1. If I'm phili I'm licking my wounds realizing that the process failed and their greatest moment is them losing in game 7 to Toronto. Phili is going nowhere regardless they get joel back or not. He gets routinely exposed in the playoffs and either breaks down or comes up way short. They gotta accept they aren't winning even at their best you can name 7 teams better than them. Trade Joel while he still has value is what I'd do cause he's overrated as fk

  2. Sixers to learn : never put your eggs in one basket, don't promise anything, never sign doc rivers as coach, and never tank a season to get a number one pick..

  3. If Philly was smart, they'd trade Embiid for a haul while they can. Dude always plays poorly in the playoffs, always gets injured, and has got two, three seasons max of his prime. His window is over, time to get value

  4. Thumbnail is clickbait. FYI…M. Bridges will be coming home to be a sixer or a ny Knick. He prefers to be home in Philly with family. He doesn’t want to be a Net.

  5. In the unlikely scenario that LeBron signs with Philly, the championship window is wide open for the Sixers and Embiid. Otherwise, it is likely that they might eventually trade Joel for a massive haul.

  6. They can upset a bucks or Celtics with a good Embid but to make a legitimate run at the finals and not end up limping off is hard for me to believe

  7. The only threat the Sixers are is a play-in team who will get waxed in the first round whoever they play. Without Embid this team is in the lottery with the bottom of the East.

  8. The fact remains that the Sixers are basically nothing without Embiid. Who was easily the best player in the league— yes, you can argue for Jokic, Doncic, SGA. Those guys are on the level . but this injury is very scary. Add that to his chronic foot problems, and who knows how his career unfolds from here… it’s a huge question mark…

  9. If a star becomes available in free agency or in a trade, they should go all in. Specially if it is a two-way star.

  10. Why sign Klay Thompson? Buddy Hield is better, younger, healthier and cheaper. Klay's just a 3-point shooter who can do nothing else. So you're paying 20 million $ for his press clippings.

  11. The Celtics owner said as soon as they traded for Jrue Holiday that the number 1 priority was to resign him.

  12. As a Sixers fan, if we somehow got Jrue Holiday, Klay Thompson, a solid PF, along with a real backup to Embiid- this team would be scary

  13. I hope Joel brings his talents to South Beach Terry herro butler bam n Joel is a scary line up wit Duncan Martin n jokic wit whoever the fuck else comes off that bench is would be the most dominate team ever history of basketball in fact wit that culture nah never losing

  14. Joel shouldn't play and the Sixers should make sure he doesn't play. The Sixers should go even further and prevent him from playing in the Olympics as well.

  15. If I were the Sixers, I would try to fill out the depth of the team as much as possible as opposed to getting a 3rd star with a huge contract.

  16. If the Sixers could find a deal for Lauri in Utah, I think they can fill the team out after that. Lauri is the perfect 3rd. Height, shooting, and high upside. Embiid misses games and Lauri and his height will still be present.
The only scary part is Danny Ainge and making a deal with him. Utah said he was available and we can use our cap space to facilitate a sign and trade or something like that.
    The Sixers need a 3rd.

For example, the Celtics can dedicate Jrue or White to Maxey and shut down all the others. They can let Embiid get his to see if Embiid can carry a full load on a knee at 70%. No player on the roster can get their own if Jrue nad White take Maxey away.

Harris can't win his match with Tatum. We need a 3rd player that can win.

My offseason wish is Lauri or Paul George.

  17. The idea of Lebron joining the Sixers with Bronny just made me realize that those two could conceivably win a championship together on the right team.

  18. But Embiid will just loose in the 2nd round going 5-19 and blame everything on Maxey who goes 11-13, 14 assist and 6 rebounds. Like always…

  19. for the amount of footage feat. Embiid vs the Raptors, and the downbeat nature of the take; i’m really disappointed that Tucker didn’t use the “The Bounce” to end this vid w/😅

  20. I hope they collapse so bad that the Bulls jump them for the 8 seed and then Chicago ends up with the 7 just so the Bulls can be deluded into running it back 😂
