Illness injury report it looks like all the Big Time Players will be playing except for uh s Osman who was still out with an injury there’s a chance that maybe some of the G League Austin Spurs guys will play the following are questionable buer Cisco re rayon gray

And Duke Jr all questionable G League who knows maybe they might get their chance to play the NBA squad tonight versus Denver for those on uniform watch the Spurs will be in their white Association addition to jerseys tonight all right let’s as we always do we always start with the opposition so what

Are we looking for from the Denver side well they’re on a roll they won four Road games in a row and then going into tonight’s game versus San Antonio bottom of the West you know tall task ahead for the Spurs to beat the defending champs so the nuggets are hot now Point number

Two you got to watch out for is why they’re winning well one of the big reasons why Denver is on a four-game winning streak is because they’re passing that ball around in the last four games they’ve recorded more assists than their opponents in four straight games so that’s a big reason why Denver

Is on a winning streak right now all on the road so they’re sharing the ball they’re facilitating so keep an eye on that on the Denver side also keeping an eye on the scoreboard this season the nuggets are 13 and three on the road when they’re leading at halftime so

They’re nearly unbeatable hopefully that doesn’t happen for your Spurs all right let’s go and switch gears now look at the San Antonio side now good news is is that the Spurs are knocking down their shots at least from the three line they have made more three-point shots than

Be the next face of the league so with that you would think that as he develops and as the Spurs get better he will be a draw for free agents now everybody knows San Antonio is not a destination spot for uh top free agent Talent yes you know you get your David

West Rome cury you know stuff like that but but they talking about major major free agents you know your top build names part of this rebuild is perhaps building no it is building around wmy do you think that wmy in it in himself and maybe his personal efforts is you think

He’s gonna Buck this trend of fres major fres not coming to San Antonio is he big enough draw for that to start happening you know that that’s a great question honestly I’m not sure um because if if you think about it if you just look at their history I mean Spurs had David

Robinson you know who consider one of the great players at that time they had Shawn Elliott um you know I’m trying to remember who else they had at the time think Terry Cummings so they had a great spot there but they could never get free agents to come here and then you course

You had Tim then you had Tim and David and you had then you later had Tim Manu and and Tony who were all you know greatest players you know one of the greatest trios ever um I personally think they’re the greatest Trio ever you know just by the fact that they were

Able to have such great longevity you know um but you know they were never able to attract any free agents you know as great as Tim was people talked about how great Tim Duncan was people you know a lot of people emulated uh Manu you know Tony uh first uh great European

Point guard you know as far as just being on a stellar level but they could never attract a uh free agent the closest they ever came was um believe it was after the 2003 season when they beat the Nets Jason kid uh was very close Jason kid was very close to coming to

The Spurs um you know what I understand it was kind of almost a last minute decision where he decided to stay with the Nets which actually turned out great because I think if Jason kid had come here I think Tony Parker would have left Y and then Chris Parker wns the 2007 NBA

Finals MVP m but um you know that’s why I’m I’m sort of giving it history because as far as like with wmy I don’t know you know I mean wimy is a great talent he’s he’s gonna he’s gon to re I think redefine the game as far as you know you got a

Guy seven foot4 that can dribble like Jamal Jamal Crawford hit threes like you know uh Steph Curry at times you know um so he’s he’s gonna I think he’s going to redefine the game but is that going to draw is that GNA be a draw for free

Agents yeah my my initial thought is no and that has nothing to do with wmy or anything else just for some reason pre agents just don’t like coming to San Antonio the biggest ra that ever signed was Lamarcus and I think that had part was partly because he’s from Texas you

Know with to school in Austin you know I believe his uh he had his kids were in San Antonio I believe yeah I think that played a big role in him coming here and but he’s you know the biggest free agent that I can think of you know in their

Prime that they’ve attracted it um so you you’ve always heard you know guys talk about how much they admire pop how much they admire Tim he people now talking about how much they still admire pop and how impressed they are with wimy but is that going to translate to free

Agents actually coming here I just don’t think so I think I think our Market is too small for them I’m right there with you yeah and unfortunately you know that’s that’s a driving factor I mean you look at Kawai Kawai is a great player you know um didn’t get a lot of

Attention here in San Antonio and then as soon as he leaves you know starts getting all this National media attention start getting these National commercials so uh you know when it comes to um I don’t know I’m sure players have their eye on it but I’m sure their

Agents and their families maybe have a little more to do with it um before anyone start saying anything I I don’t think I don’t think Li is gonna have a problem with that with as far as getting attention and and getting marketing but is that going to translate to somebody

Else that comes here getting exert of attention I don’t I don’t think so um I think they’re going to have to build to the draft into two trades yeah I would be shocked honestly if if a a prime pre agent came in here yeah I’m I’m right

There with you um you know credit to Kawai I think it did come out eventually that he was kind of urging the Spurs to make moves I think the biggest one was to bring in Paul uh Paul George it just didn’t happen but again um he not you

Know that was that was the last idea I could think of of a star spur player trying to recruit but even at that it would have had to been via trade now uh I think it’s next off season’s free agent class is pretty deep you know guys

Like Paul George is on it kawh Leonard you you know some big star names and now most of them might get locked up by their current team who knows but if they stay on this current path there’ll be some star power now the Spurs do need

Help in the rebuild and mainly uh you know another All-Star type player to play alongside of wimy this is where I get nervous if he’s going to be enough of a recruiting tool for the Spurs you you know he’s starting to kind of make San Antonio I mean look I mean he just

Have you know I think Louis Vuitton would have fall if he landed in Houston or Charlotte or whoever he would have been but hey you know with wimy here you have a big name brand Louis Vuitton having a presence now in San Antonio a bigger presence that is so you saw that

And you see sometimes players that have come to San Antonio either via trade or free agent try to make San Antonio a place to be demard Rosen you know credit to him he his new clothing Lane started in San Antonio he didn’t start it in California where he’s from uh it was in

San Antonio but still not enough I I you know I look at other International stars because that’s what WB is where he is now or going to be you know Luca donic has Luca really attracted a major free agent to Dallas I don’t think so what about Giannis a

Major free agent t a free agent Talent not via trade no he has not but she you gotta wonder is there a certain Common Thread here you know is it international players for agents don’t want to come play with I don’t know but I am with you I think this is

Going to build by the draft and the way they get a top free agent uh to come here is I sign and trade with the team or unless they just blow that cash on them money talks you know I mean that’s the only thing you think of you know you

Hear this about the San Antonio small Market tax when it comes to free agents do you believe that do you think that Spurs are gonna have to maybe overspend to bring in top names well they’ve done it before I mean people I think people forget I mean they didn’t go like they

Didn’t spend like say the Clippers do or the Clippers do now or or the Lakers or where they’re going to go you know um wire over over the the salary cap but back in the day you know the big three the last U you know their tail end of

The Big Three they um they they went over the cap a few times you know to keep uh you know to pay those The Big Three that they have and then to bring in these different players and such so they went over I think it was a couple

Times I think so so they’re willing to go over but um it seems like Spurs um what they like to do is they like to uh spend money on their own like to reward Malik Rose is one that I always think of you know I don’t know if there was much

Of a market from Malik Rose I mean he was kind of undersized guy that hustled and you know but as far as like I think they gave him at that time I think it was seven million a year I think it was which I’m not sure what other offers you

Got but you know sort of the Spurs way of rewarding their own um so they have a lot of salary cap coming up but then they also have a lot of Young Players whose contracts are going to be coming up so um you know I don’t know how much

They’re going to want to dip into free agency but of course you know they’re going to try and get get some I mean uh you know Spurs you know I know people don’t think they do but I know the Spurs have you know in the past you know uh

You know at least explored the idea of sign signing say LeBron or someone like that but you know unfortunately I mean if if there’s if that player has no interest in coming here then doesn’t matter what the Spurs do you know they’re not going to they’re not going

To come here I mean LeBron wanted to go to Miami he went to Miami he signed with Miami LeBron want to go to the Lakers uh he signed with the Lakers so um Spurs could have thrown all kinds of money at LeBron both those times but you know he

Had he had made up his mind which you know obviously that’s yeah yeah and you also look at the state of the Spurs right now they’re not they’re not GNA be one of the best teams in the league for a while you know I they might not be

Next year maybe two years from maybe three maybe three we being generous but you some of these free ages like we talked about that come next off season they’re going to be looking at where they are with their team as far as making a playoff run a championship run

What have you the Spurs are not there yet I mean the best they can give them is we’ll be a playin run team how about that top pre agent that’s not going to be enough uh build to the draft it looks like that’s where they’re going to go

And looks like that might be the way they’re going look they’re going to have another top pick this summer I think right now rul I’m pretty sure the fans will correct me I think the worst they can do as of right now is number seven yeah I think that’s the worst they can

Do so they’re going to get a top 10 pick regardless um so chance possible chance to have two so possible chance perfect yeah possible to have a chance of two so but even then you know that that I think the only way they’re going to bring in top names is

Either they strike gold in the draft ra or they just make a trade and I think that’s probably going to be their best bet to bring in a top name to fit next to wmy are your thoughts yeah I think so as well you know the thing is like um

Other thing is like they do need another Superstar to pair with with Wy every team basically every team in the league has you know at least two you know Superstars that that sort of push each other and you know take some of the pressure off um you know but you know

They they could go out and they could get um you know maybe not a superstar player but someone that could help you know like like um you know I don’t know that Chris Middleton is considered a superstar you know he should be but I don’t know that he’s considered a

Superstar but that type of player a guy that comes in there and you know uh takes the pressure off you know um hits Big Shots you know plays uh you know hustles you know great great blue guy what they call you just a guy with good for chemistry you know they could sign

Someone a free agent like that where maybe it’s not as big of a splash to say I don’t know someone that’s in the all NBA first team but someone that’s going to play alongside uh wemi and make the Spurs more of a cohesive unit and take

Some of the pressure off so you know I I think they I would imagine seeing them do that uh I can’t remember all the people are out there as far as free agents but I can see them doing that picking up you know a piece here or

There um you know but but I think regardless you know I I do think they’re going to do that I think they may make a trade but I I know a lot of people are thinking oh you know you had mentioned it and I’ve heard a lot of people talk

Talk about how they don’t think they’re going to be very good next year I honestly think they’re gonna I think they’re going to win at least 30 or 40 games next season I really like that so be a great topic hey that’s a great topic I’m gonna say that one because I’m

Running out of topics at the end of the season R to be honest with you but you know that kind of reminds me kind of like a scenario now look look everybody know I mean just look behind me everybody knows I’m a big nerd I think

All San anony knows I’m a big nerd you know um you’re right there with me yep but if you know this reminds me of like when you’re a kid when we’re kids by the way everybody there used to be this thing called Toys R Us in the in the

United States it was like a big toy warehouse and you would go I would go with my mom and my mom would go okay here’s $10 and I go okay now then the decision do we do I go and get the big name toy in one shot or I use $10 and

Get a multiple maybe lesser not lesser but just as good toys but not as pricey and bring a collection so I have a chance to bring it just one heavy hitter or three or four of them to add to my collections where my friends will say hey that’s a pretty good collection

Where do you stand with that’s kind of what the Spurs are are right now they have a lot of money they have a lot of draft picks they got a lot of players on the curent roster they can flip to bring in that new toy or new toys to build

Around wmy do you think they should just you know just go for it in one shot use that 10 bucks on a big name or bring in a multiple of really good good players you know like you mentioned like like for example a Middleton or a Tobias

Harris bring in those type of guys as far as fre agency I think the the the better way is to to maybe bring in you know a couple guys that that could help them um you know um because if you bring in a superstar obviously that’s going to

Help Wy but I I think it’s going to take him a while to adjust if you look at some of the super teams that have been over the years you know they have usually the first year they don’t do well you know it takes them a while to

Adapt to each other I think mi’s first year I don’t even I can’t even remember if they made the finals or not but yeah I think they fell they fell short yeah yeah so it think it was the second or maybe the third year where they won

Their first title so um you know it always takes the you know when they pair these super teams you know either they they don’t come through as far as winning an NBA title or they it takes them a little while to adjust so if they

Bring a superstar and I I think him and wmy would would have U you know take them a little time to to adjust to whereas you bring in a player that maybe is more of a role player than he can fit in uh with wmy in the system as far as

Free agency uh as far as any trades I I I know people want to basically trade the whole roster um and you know that’s the same thing if you make this huge change it’s not one it’s not going to guarantee that they’re going to win a title next year

And it’s gonna maybe even set them back because they’re going to have to get used to the system they’re gonna have to get used to you know playing alongside wimy um you know people that come through the Spurs organization always they always talk about how it takes them

A year uh to kind of figure out the system and kind of you know get used to everything um you know youve I’ve heard that from many players you know that say that you know takes him about a yearly adjust to pop in the system I’m sure

That’s even with pop sort of you know U you know not implementing everything with them so you know to answer the question I would go maybe two or three yeah role players yeah I I I think so too yeah because you don’t have so many there’s only one basketball you don’t want to

Have to feed you know two people who need to eat a lot you know wy’s gonna get his you know a mega Superstar player you know not again just make just using it out there because that’s the first thing popped on my head James Harden is

Gonna be a free agent you know and you know he’s gonna want to touch us you know it’s you know it’s working right now in the Clippers to a degree but you know will it work in San Antonio is different you know different style different player yours and big one too

With wimy all in all yeah I I think I think wimy will try his best to to attract that but I think it’s going to need a collective it’s gonna need wmy you know trying to bring in players to come hey join me join me San Antonio and

Selling them on we got something going but I think players are gonna want to say okay well I don’t want to be part of a rebuild right now and that’s where the Spurs are right now they’re part of a rebuild I think maybe we’ll see that Trend Buck maybe once they start winning

Was start but even then we saw that in the big three era they were winning titles they were winning titles every year they were considered NBA Finals Contender Championship Contender and yeah still never attract that big name of course you know with all that being

Said you know if if you know I know he’s not a free agent but say someone like Damen Lillard comes available as a free agent obviously you go after that guy and you know you forget about the other ones because he would you know automatically make you a contender you

Know having a strong you know uh leader like that a guy that can shoot and score in the clutch um you know but if that’s the case and obviously you know in the spur is obviously you’re going to do that as well if they can sign someone

Like that but I I just don’t know again I don’t know who’s going to come here and um like I said it’s strange you know because I’m thinking it’s the market size but then at the same time everybody that plays here in San Antonio loves it you know usually winds up making it

Their home for the rest of their life and yeah I know there’s other BA players you know who who have lived here uh who didn’t even play with the Spurs but they just like the city so yeah players love the city but for some reason they just

You know won’t sign here yeah yeah and you know as much as papovich uh you know guess the love from players you know Team USA you know I think I think I don’t know if you ever caught that there was a game this season where they caught on Mike papovich

Talking with Chris paulr he’s he’s messing he’s joking with Chris Paul saying like all this time you said you want to come play for me you never did you know so I mean there it is you know who knows they you know dare I say things might change if pop retires you

Know maybe that could be a big change you know maybe the players you know we we heard it you know from former players step Jackson and Deon Murray and K Leonard and even LaMarcus Aldridge y all said Sometimes some players don’t like pop style you know the book reading the

History lesson they just you know Lamarcus aldd said uh to show times all the smoke in his interview saying kaai part of the reason why kaai didn’t really have a good time in San Antonio was because a pops methods so we don’t know it could be a

Combination of things so we’ll see we’ll see yeah yeah you know I’ve heard that too and I don’t you know I don’t know how much of that is actually you know factored into decisions I mean you think it look at Phil Jackson you know Phil Jackson was a

Bit similar as well and you know he was still able to attract the free ages but you of course he was in LA in New York so there you go so you know and there’s other coaches that maybe not have a different you know similar maybe not the

Same style but similar Styles you know you look at then you look at other guys as far as I’ve heard people talk about well maybe Pop’s too mean or rough I mean there’s other guys out there I mean tibs and New York with the Nick he’s tough you know they’ve been able to

Attract free agents so you know I just I just don’t again I just think maybe it’s just the market size yeah you know it it could come down to that and right now was probably the worst time to come to San Antonio the rebuild losing Seasons uh you know how much longer

They’re going to be in the rebuild Market size you know maybe this could be a factor too you know how much more years does pop have you know for AG may say I don’t want to come to pop come to the game if he’s gonna retire and we’re

Gonna go through that change all over again you know who knows so I but I I do think what’s the spur start winning and if WBY is all that as he’s projected to be and he’s almost there already then maybe he might Buck the trend but if we’re going to learn from history
