It means that we are a legitimate threat to fans of other teams again. Shai is a threat to their favorite player as far as winning MVP. The Thunder are a threat to do damage in the playoffs. It is going to piss people off even more than the KD/Russ era because of how far ahead of schedule and how much draft capital we have.

This turn on Shai was always going to happen, so just sit back and let it burn on. The foul baiting rhetoric is annoying. Mostly because it’s being used as this definitively evil thing. But pump faking to draw contact is by definition foul baiting and literally everyone uses this to get to the free throw line. It has existed for decades. It’s not some new concept. I think where people get annoyed now and will get even more annoyed in the future is how Shai sells the contract. Throwing his head back and shouting at the point of contact is going to continue to get on people’s nerves. But the moves in and of themselves are not egregious and are consistent with how every great player plays and gets reffed. The outrage is a bit over the top, especially for a player like Shai who is a chill bucket getter.
