96 much like the game on Friday magic got off to a good start Raptors start to come back a little bit in that one uh and then the Magic in the second half particularly Palo banera really just turn it on offensively tighten up some things on the other side of the floor

And you get the victory over the Toronto Raptors you sweep the season series over the Toronto Raptors and yeah always good so you’ve won the season series against the Knicks uh you swept the season series against the Pistons I believe you’re close to sweeping the season series against the

Charlotte Hornets who You’ll Play uh again in just a a few days here but yeah good to get the victory this is the time of the year where the magic are winning games that they should we’ve been talking seemingly All Season about this stretch of the schedule you know after

Uh after January sort of through the first few weeks in March really really favorable needed to pick up wins the magic have done that and yeah big credit to the guys tonight uh really quickly want to go through a couple of super chaps here first of all timer TV play

Play the song and she knows that’s how he won the game so but all right folks yeah uh let’s go ahead and and talk about this game yeah it was a a rough first half uh just overall you know the magic get out to that like 114 run Raptors come back just

A little bit magic you know able to the game never really felt like it was in in total danger always felt really confident that the magic were going to you know be able to to to go out and and win this game you were still up by five at the half

After that Caleb Houston three and then in that third quarter uh Palo banero like really just started like getting it going he talked about it in the postgame interview with Dante marelli like what’s the trend behind you in these third quarters he says when well when I don’t

Play well in the first half like I want to come out and make sure I I I play better in in that second half and Palo banero did that tonight we’ll certainly uh go ahead and and take a look at the the the box score in just a couple of

Minutes here uh but the first half riddle with turnovers the magic did a better job of that in the second half uh not a great shooting night for the magic particularly from behind the arc 11 of 36 uh good for for 30% uh but I felt

Like the magic did a good job you know sharing the basketball 23 assists on 43 field goals made there’s a couple of uh sequence especially in that second half where you could tell like the the ball was really moving around and that’s honestly when the the magic are are at

At their best so um yeah we have now 14 games left it’s crazy to say that here you know March 17th already it literally feels like we were just at media day and then at the Rockham headquarters where we recorded the the media Day episode

Where we uh were surprised uh by uh by Bo Outlaw you know that doesn’t seem like that was was you know 6 months ago to me that feels like it was you know maybe two or three months ago at the most and now we’ve got three and a half

Weeks of the regular season and then we’re on to to postseason basketball whether you have close to a week off and start uh you know playing playoff games either on the road or still possible the magic could have a you homecourt advantage in the first round of the

Playoffs really crazy to to think that so uh yeah wasn’t a a super impressive game for the magic but it it didn’t need to be you know I don’t love the fact that some of these games it feels like they’re playing on autopilot in the first half because they know against

Teams like Detroit like Washington uh like Charlotte like Toronto that hey we get into the third quarter we can you know play like eight or nine minutes of Magic basketball and then you know play pretty well in the fourth quarter and win these games really comfortably it

Feels like they figure that out and the team has a switch like for a young team to have a switch you don’t love that cuz like they can really only do that against Bad teams right like I remember uh like going back to the 2012 uh heat

You know that team that won like 27 straight games they had a switch that they could turn on against anybody and just turn that on in the middle of third quarter and just blow anybody out the magic can’t do that against everybody but they can do that against Bad teams

You didn’t have Jonathan Isaac tonight as he was out with the you know the left knee injury maintenance which is is you know fine I guess as they’re continuing to ramp up his minutes you would hope to see see that less and less over the course of the next couple of weeks here

The good news is I know Kevin has talked about this a ton is there are no backto backs in the postseason so we don’t have to worry about that with Jonathan Isaac you know with Marquel these guys that are or or Gary Harris these guys that are still sort of maintaining um you

Know their recovery you know coming back from various injuries so looking forward to that but yeah to the Magic’s credit again when it was time to to to play Magic basketball in that third quarter they go on a nice run take the game over um and it wasn’t you know particularly

Close especially in that fourth quarter and you know the magic were what like 33 and one I think the the statistic is now uh when they’re leading heading into the fourth quarter and I believe the magic had a 14-point lead heading into the fourth so you were pretty you know

Pretty comfortable I think they hit a three early in the third would push it to 17 and I was like Yeah The Magic are the magic are going to win this game pretty comfortably so again shout out to the magic shout out to poo shout out to France those guys were awesome tonight

Jaylen Suggs had some big plays as well MO ER coming in off the bench uh which is pretty you know standard at at this point for that guy so all right let’s see let’s go back to the chat here grz baby says free AB he deserves more

Playing time I agree I know there’s the the question about Marquel folz and just you know how much value he’s bringing to you at this point I I definitely think there’s a strong argument that can be made for Anthony Black Soul Train says I like that they won by double digits

Without ji and the bench not dominating like they can yeah that is really promising when you’re not at full strength ji is such a GameChanger on that bench lineup uh being able to go out and get a win like that you know regardless of of who’s playing and who’s

Not as awesome Janine says just leaving Kia so I will have to catch up with you guys later but 40 wins how about that magic Maniacs yes Janine and uh safe travels on your on your drive home but uh yeah what a what a what a game to be

At Nathan Rivera says eight game home stand six and two maybe I think that’s possible I really do Chris says do you think we are going to end up matching up against the Knicks I think right now that’s probably the most likely scenario I think the magic ending up you know

Four or five um you know in the Eastern Conference at this point I think is the most likely outcome uh but it it just depends you know the magic could fall to six I I think probably at the the lowest I would say but I still think the magic

Us are there certain matchups that I feel like favor the magic a bit more than others absolutely but these are all playoff teams you know and and they’re locking in on your Tendencies and they’re becoming more familiar familiar with your Tendencies as each game you know goes on each quarter goes by you

Know every game that goes by by the end of the series like you know exactly what the other team is going to do every time up and down the floor it’s playoff basketball it’s supposed to be hard but yeah I agree the Knick’s definitely a tough

Know I I believe that guy um was going to be a free agent this off season if I’m not mistaken definitely a guy I think the magic should should take a look at I don’t know if he’s a perfect fit here but for a team that you know desperately needs shooting and and

Additional offense think you could do a lot worse than this guy 15 points tonight five rebounds three assists two Steals and a block six of 12 from behind the ark you know wasn’t really falling from from deep but uh still found a way to to hurt the magic Jordan wara that’s

A guy that was uh traded over from Milwaukee if I’m not mistaken I know he was drafted to Milwaukee that guy looks like a legit NBA player eight points tonight seven rebounds seven of nine from the floor um yeah definitely was playing that uh that second unit that

Bench unit pretty tough and Kelly oen man my take away from Kelly oen is that guy just needs to to cut his hair but he had 11 points four rebounds three assists this is a Toronto Raptor Team Missing Scotty Barnes obviously due to injury missing you know RJ Barrett who

You know just lost his younger brother you know tragically so um with the the roster that was coming into this game you know the last couple of games rather for Toronto uh the magic needed to to go out and and get this win they absolutely needed to um not really any excuse for

That and and again it was sort of close in the first half but magic did what they needed to do in that third quarter let’s move on to the magic here first of all fron Vagner 22 points eight for 13 from the floor o of2 from behind the arc

Had a a really bad Miss um in the in the the second half there you know airball to airball to three uh which you which you you really don’t love to see um but yeah he he’s got to figure that out for sure you know the three Point shooting

Don’t want to spend a ton of time talking about that everybody knows that has been an issue uh for fron you know since the allstar break but six to six from the floor nine rebounds five assists one block five turnovers definitely have to clean up the the five

Turnovers you know Palo had a had a good game with the five assists to one turnover if fron can get that down to to two or three and your high level you know big jumbo wings are able to playmake like that and take care of the

Ball that’s going to be part of the magic like sort of getting to the next level and then to talk about pal banero 29 Points 11 of 16 from the floor 68% from the floor four of seven good for 57% from behind the arc left a few opportunities at the free throw line

Tonight but six rebounds five assists a steal a block just one turnover I don’t know if you guys saw this uh circulating you know you know magic social media but Palo banero right now if he finishes the season averaging 25 and five would be one of four players

Who have done that at the age of 21 he would join Luca donich LeBron James and Michael Jordan that is quite quite the list there uh Wendell Carter uh tonight nine points three rebounds three assists four of eight felt like this was an okay Wendell game um I I just can’t help but

Feel like we’re we’re not getting the same you know Wendell you know that we that we did last year I don’t know if it’s the hand that’s thrown him off is he still dealing with the you know planer fascitis stuff just doesn’t seem to be the the same player um like

Doesn’t have the same you know bounce uh would attack in different ways offensively in recent years don’t know exactly what has been going on with with Wendell this year but um if the magic are going to be successful in the in the playoffs like he has got to to to bring

It like really on on both ends like needs to average close to 10 rebounds a game like three rebounds in 27 minutes from Wendell is is unacceptable uh Gary Gary struggled from behind the arc tonight seven points one of seven from behind the arc uh Jaylen sort of a you

Know 10 points kind of quiet game from him but two of two from behind the arc uh two rebounds two assist two Steals and a block um yeah Jaylen like the the next step for Jaylen offensively is like him just attacking more being more aggressive just 20 points you know I

Think that that contributed to uh sort of the quieter night from him is that he had limited minutes du to the the foul trouble you know quicked up picked up two quick fouls in the first quarter and then sat I think the entire second quarter uh but then didn’t commit

Another foul for the rest of the game Jaylen I think is on track to making you know one of those all defensive teams when that happens and he goes into next year with more of a a reputation for being a really good physical Defender I think he’ll get the benefit of the

Whistle but that dude gets one of the worst whistles in the league in my opinion Marquel Foltz Four Points two of seven from the floor 0 of one from behind the arc so one of six on Twos for Marquel tonight five rebounds two assists I I think it’s fair the people

That are asking questions like is this guy a good fit is this guy you know does he fit the future of the team should we be playing him now should we be playing him at all in the playoffs with the way that he’s looked you know the the last

Several weeks I I don’t see how you you don’t feel like that that is a legitimate question Joe Engles tonight uh Five Points two assists two rebounds just one one shot tonight one of one that three uh to to end the third quarter I believe it was um but yeah uh

Joe Engles some some nights he he gives you a lot some nights he’s just sort of out there and tonight was one of those he’s out there tonights Mo Vagner really good Off the Bench 14 points six is nine from the floor three rebounds an assist

And a block Cole Anthony six points all of those came in the fourth quarter had some big buckets you know down the stretch to really just put the game away but struggled the first three quarters there uh Caleb Houston 15 minutes one4 from behind the arc the shooting with

Caleb has fallen off since he was hotter earlier in the year if Caleb’s going to see the floor he has to be you know knocking down threes at a at a high clip or or it’s just really not worth it uh for you to have him out there and then

AB chuma jet Admiral scoffield go baz those guys played the last two minutes 44 minutes of the G or 44 seconds of the game and yeah that you know those guys are are playing in garbage time so uh yeah overall I mean you know 12 turnovers for the magic um a lot of

Turnovers early on again clean that up in the second half probably okay with that uh 36 threes tonight don’t really love that for the magic we all know that optimal field goal attempts from behind the ark for the magic are 30 and below so 36 just tells me they were falling a

Little bit uh too in love with the the jumpers tonight um which probably points to the reason that they were only up five at the end of that first half but uh to their credit again got it going towards the end of the game here and

Were able to pull out the win we go ahead and just take a look at the summary of this game 60 points in the paint that’s right where the magic want to be uh their biggest lead was 20th the bench Got outscored Tonight 34 to 39

That’s that’s going to be a big piece to the playoffs as well the bench unit needs to be dominant come playoff time getting outplayed by G Leaguers quite frankly uh from Toronto you can get away with that tonight the way that fron played the way that Pao played but come

Playoff time like that was such a a strength for the magic early in the season they got a lot of those big wins had the big win streak the bench was dominant the bench was the best bench unit in the league I still think this

Can be the best bench unit in the league yes you don’t have Jonathan Isaac tonight but like even still like Joe Eng Les Cole Anthony those guys have to find a way to get it going offensively and and like really impact winning in a in a

Real way those guys made a few plays tonight but for the majority of their minutes weren’t making a ton of of winning plays tonight and we’re going to need those guys to do that in the playoffs or there are certain games where if your bench isn’t doesn’t have

It you’re you’re going to get blown out so that’s been a concern of mine you know recently is that the bench hasn’t really gotten back to that dominant level and we’re going to need them to have that uh when it comes playoff time all right before we go ahead and

Take a look at scores around the league or uh let’s look at stand Innings first going through uh Wendell has been playing great Wendell has been fine I I wouldn’t say he’s been playing great I think he’s he’s been fine he’s had great games as of late um but he’s just in in

My opinion has not been as consistent um as we become accustomed to over the course of the the last few years here t4a says I think our only chance of beating someone in the playoffs is a team who isn’t great at shooting threes I would like the Heat or the Knicks well

The Knicks have added a lot of shooting and and the heat um I believe are are close to the top 10 in the League this year shooting from behind the arc so um as much as I would love to beat either of those teams I don’t I don’t know that

They necessarily match that criteria Shelby says I just left this game with my I think boyfriend it might be best friend since tomorrow is his birthday uh and I’m so glad our manic got this win so excited for magic playoff basketball I think that’s boyfriend I’m going to

Say happy birthday to Shelby’s boyfriend uh that’s not you’re the best friend I didn’t mean to friend zone you just now grits baby says 50 wins this season would be tremendous it really would be I think it’s unlikely but it is not out of play just yet for this

Gary was struggling from behind the ark tonight Ernest says I feel even among magic fans Caleb doesn’t get enough credit for his defense Caleb is fine defensively it’s just like at this point it’s it’s tough when guys are are really one-dimensional like especially that’s what gets you played off the floor in

The playoffs if you’re not um if if you’re if you’re not super versatile uh or if you are onedimensional if you can only score you can’t really defend you get played off the floor if you can only defend you can’t score and you’re not a a threat offensively at all you get

Played off the floor so that’s for me with Caleb where yes the defense is fine if he’s not hitting threes he he would be played off the floor in a in a playoff series uh Chris says the stream is Frozen on me twice now just letting you

Know I don’t know if anybody else is having that issue I don’t know if I’m having uh internet issues some of my web pages have been loading slowly so that is a possibility so if it’s it’s frozen on you I I do uh apologize but not
