All right welcome um we’ll go ahead if you have anything you want to start us off with any opening statement we’ll go ahead and then we’ll open up to questions oh man just excited to be a saint man um you know just excited to help this team uh grateful um you know

Um for the opportunity and uh you know my plan is to make the most of it and um you know help this team to get to that one common goal Chase welcome to New Orleans um why the Saints um just a culture man just tradition um you know just uh Saint is

One of those um places that uh you know a winning culture um and you know that’s what uh that’s what I wanted to um you know be around and uh you know I feel like this is the place for me how do you feel you’re gonna affect

This defense we kind of know what your specialty is but how how do you feel you’re going to affect this defense um in All Phases of the game man uh you know I’m going let my play D the talking but uh you know I definitely um going to

Bring my best and uh put my best foot forward hey Chase as a as a former number two overall selection in the draft Defensive Rookie of the Year obviously you know your your play gets put under a microscope when you’re when you’re a player of that caliber what do

You think is one of the bigger misconceptions uh about your game that you’re excited to prove here in New Orleans uh really not excited to prove anything to anybody um I’m just going to go out there and be the best I can be how do you character your career so

Far Chase um you know injuries definitely like you know hindered um a few things but uh it’s all good it’s all about the process um you know all about the journey um you know I know what I can do and uh you know I’m a man of God

He still give me opportunities approve so we here hey Chase I’m wondering how uh your exit from Washington and your experience in San Francisco maybe provided A New Perspective for you last season did it did it give you like did that change of scenery help at all or I was blessed to

Be in both um spots man um you know um appreciate it uh the time I had in uh San Fran um but you know I’m a saint now so yeah and what did uh making the Super Bowl uh do for you and yeah it was a blessing man it was a great opportunity

Um it was a great opport Jason I’m sorry this has already been asked I got on a minute late but um is there anything about this defense in particular that appealed to you uh yeah I mean you know we have um great defense uh Tyron cam um you know

Carl Pete de Mario I mean this I feel like it’s weapons all over the field um um you know my goal is just going to be the best Chase Shan that I can be and um you know I definitely uh you know plan

To add um a good piece to be a part of this defense Chase just what was kind of your process of picking your spot where you kind of studying everybody and trying to make sure you found the best fit for you and if so what made New

Orleans the best fit for you yeah just the best fit is uh I feel like it’s very family oriented um you know even just meeting the whole coaching staff um everybody was family oriented um you know I can tell um just the work space it’s a has great energy um just

Everybody walking around and building smiling um so just feeling the um energy um and really just a place where you know I come to work in every day and and it seems like you’re pretty familiar with the uh defensive roster I’m assuming you’ve at least looked at him a

Little bit how how you feel like you fit in with the the other guys and how can you guys compliment each other oh I feel like uh you know we gonna We gonna start in practice um doing that but uh you know I’m definitely excited to get around these

Boys hey Chase what was the kind of the meeting like between you guys last night you guys went out to dinner and stuff or is that or how did that go yeah it went great uh went out to dinner um you know a will had great

Combos were any of the other players at the dinner were they uh trying to make their best recruiting pitch to get you to sign yeah it was one day I I there was a report that Tyron was there with you was is that accurate okay um Chase when when you talk I mean

You said injuries obviously um um affected the middle of your career uh so far in the NFL what what else do you point to is something you know you want to improve on or when you reviewed your last season that that that you think there was still area for growth I feel

Like in every area of my game I can grow um you know I’m still a a young player in this game um learn and um you know just still on that journey to be the best player I can be you know to to take a one-year deal I

Mean do you kind of see this as a pro it deal or how do you kind of view uh the Deal Pro I just prove it as I’m getting another opportunity to show what I can do and you know you did play 16 games last year relatively healthy did you feel like you

Thought it was a bounceback season for you or how how did you kind of feel about last year overall n really I’m just every time I step on the field I’m just grateful for you know um just a chance to do it um you know all it takes

In this league is one play um and I understand that um you know this organization the Saints gave me another you know opportunity to um you know fight for that Trophy and that that number one goal um and I’m going do my best to uh you know make sure they

Know they didn’t they didn’t pick the wrong one Chase what um you know obviously this is the beginning of week two of free agency now what what was important for you or important for the other teams to to take this much time to make the decision did you really want to go on

Some of these visits and and and really yeah I mean uh I just realized you know this place I had a feeling my mom always said trust my gut um you know talk to um you know the whole staff and uh I just felt like this was the best choice for

Me how nice was it to kind of have that you know you were traded last season obviously that to kind of have that say of where you wanted to go in your career what was that process like it was uh it was definitely different you know grown man

Decisions um something that I I feel like I’m prepared to make um so yeah do we have any other questions for Chase hey I apologize if you’ve been asked this already but I’m getting a chance to team up with Cam Jordan uh just your excitement to team up with a

Vet like that yeah man it’s uh I’m definitely that’s definitely um something big for me that I’m uh you know excited to do um you know future Hall of Famer um a guy who I’mma spend time with who I can just uh you know absorb the game from um you know I’m

Definitely excited about big so yeah Chase just quick question you know this is a team that for whatever reason always seems to gravitate toward Ohio State players whether through free agency or through the draft was that something you were aware of and do you have any kind of uh familiarity with you

Know whether Pete marshan some of these guys Chris that have been here obviously whether as teammates or whatever yeah now you know Chris uh Pete were um my teammates um Maran we we we we still good friends um you know I know all the Cleveland guys um but yeah man I mean um

You know they definitely around here they uh you know they talk about how they love Ohio State guys and U you know I’m glad I can be a part of that what was your um impression of Dennis Allen the coach would a you know I can

Just tell he’s going to hold me to the highest standard and um I can just tell that’s just going to make me the best player that I can be Chase there were some reports about you not only visiting with the Saints but also visiting with the Panthers and

Then there was like an expected visit or something like that with the Titans did you take all of those visits before settling in New Orleans or or did New Orleans just present itself at the right time um I just like the Saints uh so you

Know I feel like it was a um you know it was what I wanted I feel like it was my fit a family oriented um you know great culture host their players to um you know just a you know a real good um organization when you say that when when

You said that it was a place that you wanted uh was it somewhere that you had identified early on in the process or was it more so through conversation and the visit uh conversation and the visit um for sure you you mentioned that family oriented Phil a few times why why was

That so important to you uh because I feel like I’m a family man um you know I like it uh you know I like coming to work every day I like um you know talking to my teammates um you know I just like that good energy uh throughout the

Atmosphere how familiar are you with sort of the connection between the fan base and the the organization here obviously the the organization is very entrenched with the history of the city and things like that is that something you’re excited about as well yeah definitely I heard the stadium gets super loud um

So I’m I’m really excited for that chase you’ve you’ve done a pretty good job of kind of we’ve all been dancing around this sort of pro it narrative and that’s not something you’re you’re interested in in buying into I guess what why is it that that

That you kind of like don’t like being uh labeled is like needing to prove anything or or you know what I mean like I guess Revitalize your career or the kind of things we all tend to to put into a story arc for you yeah I mean you

Know I feel like uh in life it’s all Journeys um you know um I really don’t hear what people say um you know you can say what you want I know make a living and get there you know you know people have families but uh at the end of the

Day I’m a man of God and it’s a journey um and you know we gonna see we’re gonna see what happen and I know Ross asked you earlier about being under a microscope when when you’re such a high-profile player you obviously have taken a good attitude to

Not let that affect you but is that something you’ve noticed and and felt that um you know people love to to parse everything you’re out there doing no I’ve been getting that since college man it don’t say me man that’s after for one more what did your what was your family’s reaction or

Uh your mom and stuff just what what was their uh reaction uh super excited um like ready to eat this good food down here know that oh what’ you get uh what’d you get at dinner yesterday did you get a very New Orleans meal or anything I had to uh
