Thought that this would be the game that the Denver Nuggets could possibly give up because I said the Raptors GNA be short-handed no Scotty Barnes no Gary Trent Jr no yaka purle no Chris bé they did not have their full cast of characters they’re missing four starters

In this game and even with that the Denver Nuggets had an opportunity to put him away and if you watch this game y’all that first half the Denver Nuggets looked like a team that knew they were playing versus a team missing a lot of players that didn’t have the dogs to

Give them a real push and that they knew they could just take advantage shub once they locked into the game and y’all the first score in the first quarter the score was 34 32 Raptors and I’m talking about it’s dick Grady it is Bruce Brown Kelly oen oai oaji and it’s RJ Barrett

That’s the starting five that’s the starting five and yet here we were the Denver Nuggets were down two in the first quarter and it really just felt like y’all you realize if you play any defense today this game should be done relatively quickly it should be done relatively quickly but

They just weren not able to muster inside of that first half the requisite energy that you wanted to see from the Denver Nuggets but in the first half yic is going crazy Aaron Gordon is finishing all around the rim you had Jamal Murray who didn’t do much in the first half

Y’all but y’all you want to talk about somebody coming out the second half a man on the mission oh my goodness oh my goodness zek Naji had a block in that first half as well uh Justin holiday ended up playing in the first quarter nuggets were down 32 34 and then y’all

Listen to this the Nuggets were down 3234 but guess what the the game changed it changed because the Denver Nuggets got into a situation where they went the Raptors on an 11 to zero run 11 to zero the Raptors went on an 11 to zero run at

The top of the second quarter an immediate timeout for Michael Malone next thing you know the Denver Nuggets are down by 13 to the Toronto Raptors jic comes back in the game the nuggets are scoring decently but not well the Nuggets scor like 19 points y’all 19 I

Believe inside of the second quarter and the Raptors pulled away and the Raptors pulled away and they get as much of a 17-point lead 17-point lead going into the half again this is not like a raptor team that’s even fully developed they nuggets have already played them with Scotty

Barnes and them they get into this game y’all and they just absolutely let go of the rope and it was one of the ugliest first halfes that you could ever imagine the Denver Nuggets playing but even with all of that man like there’s just something that ticks up here for them

And Yoku started the game off not passive but it just was one of those games like you know I don’t really necessarily need us to go off in order for us to win this game but Jamal Murray for whatever reason in the first half his defense wasn’t great wasn’t trying

To score the basketball Kelly oen put him in the post a couple times and you know what he was just taking advantage of him a little bit and Jamal Murray’s been a good Defender this year he had some great series versus Jason Tatum in that Boston game we’ve seen him get

One-on-one stops multiple times this season in isolation and in the post but Kelly oening had the sides Advantage took advantage of that and multiple times bodied him gave him the elbow and would finish over him and also dud the Nuggets were having issues on the offensive glass they just could not

Quite settle down to possession and then even when they did get a stop which was rare the Raptors basically were able to get something right back up and keep the momentum going so it was one of those kind of Nick and TP games where the Nuggets would score the Raptors would

Make a three the Nuggets would not score the Raptor would make a three and y’all jontay Porter Off the Bench for the Raptors 14 points and five assists he was four of seven from the three-point line four of seven from the three-point line and if you jontay Porter is one of

Michael Porter Jr’s siblings uh Michael Porter Jr is the oldest boy in the family I believe jonte is next the next oldest boy in the family and this is such an interesting scenario because you got a chance to see jontay Porter who I think a lot of Denver Nuggets fans are

Happy to see do well obviously because he been dealing with injuries and stuff but they just again they the defensive rotations wen’t there the Mind said none of it but y’all once the third quarter changed what happened was Jamal Murray had a defensive possession where I think

It was RJ Barrett tried to get by him he ran the hump over a screen joic gets put in a pick and roll they defeat the pick and roll they keep it contained on the perimeter and then it leads to a block for jic on RJ Barrett and then it’s sent

Out to kcp AG then catches the lob and then from there uh the Nuggets start going on a run they go into the fourth quarter down nine go into the fourth quarter down nine and when I tell y’all Jamal Murray just absolutely exploded in the second half and really had one of

His best games uh since January he had 26 points 12 assists and five rebounds was 11 of 19 from the field two of six from three and he was a plus 15 in a game they won by six points and Jamal Murray shot making was impeccable it was

Impeccable it was incredible it was impeccable his ability to control his body on his shots whether it was the up and under that he had on Kelly oen whether when he’s finishing at The Rim he had a over over Kelly oen again a nice sweeping left hand left hand off

The glass bucket that he made off a l and it was just a really really pretty possession from Jamal Murray and again his ability to just rise to the occasion he saw that the Nuggets needed more he was able to give more but Nia yic y’ 35 points 17 rebounds 12 assists 14

To 26 for the field one of three from three six of six from the free throw line two blocks and six steals Nika yic eight stocks eight stocks with 35 17 and 12 on 26 shots y’all insane insane one-of a kind stat line one-of a kind statline One of a Kind

Percentile that’s really good listen to this if you look at dunen 3s for pton Watson according to their data pton Watson is shooting 50.7% from mid-range which is good for 93% centile on the season now dunon 3es count from 5et to the three-point line as a mid-range shot

So it’s a short mid-range to a long mid-range so he’s not shooting 50% from all the midrange from like every single spot in the mid-range what is showing you is that when he gets into a mid-range opportunity he’s converting half of the looks relative to the

Distance so this is what I’m saying I think pton is just continuing to display an offensive skill set and offensive game that I think works well with Jamal Murray works well with Christian Brown works well with npj works well with Gordon works well with Zeke works well

With joic if you just continue to figure out how to take advantage of space around you how to take advantage of your skill set this is the stuff that really separates the different nuggets and give them so much hope and opportunity like for instance when they played versus the

Boston Celtics they won the bench minutes I think it was 28 to2 28 to 12 and a lot of that’s because of Payton Watson but on top of that Christian Brown he’s been playing so much more confident y’all remember there was a point in time in the season where a lot

Of people felt that Christian Brown had regressed as a sophomore because every time he would drive to the rim he was creating offensive fouls because of too much contact he was creating and then on the other end of this his defense was a little sleepy here and there was getting

Taken advantage of but his confidence has continued to just steadily improve as the year has gone on and I think he’s become such a trustworthy player for the nuggets and it’s really just elevating them to a different kind of setting and so I’m really really happy to see this

For the two young young Gunners man for again seconde players this is pton Watson’s his real rookie year this is Christian Brown’s second year for real and I think for the fact that you’re getting such good potent defensive play and then they’re both rounding out their

Offensive games I do think all in all pton Watson has more of an offensive upside as a player because he has some playmaking shops that he shows in the full court especially got a mid-range shot he can get into got a little bit of a bag little bit of a hedgy tween that

He can tap into and I think he’s going to continue to develop as a ball handler and the Nuggets can utilize that and exploit that when necessary with the bench unit going forward but I think that’s really good news to see that you’re having that kind of impact from

Both your players and I think this is really important for especially for Calvin Booth who’s talked about they want to build in the draft they want to build in the draft they want to make sure they’re taking advantage of the rules that are allowed for them to take

Advantage of but on the other end because of the new CBA agreement in the first apron and second apron the team is just so expensive and so you have to hit on these young players and I think for the nuggets the fact that zek Nai even

Though he’s in year four the fact that pton Waton in year two Christian Brown in year two and Julian strawther before he went down with the injury the fact that you’re getting such consistent help man it really just takes them to another level and I think what I love about the Toronto

Game is that even in those kind of games with Jamal muray the court they were able to actually stabilize y’all there was a play where Jamal Murray and inside the fourth quarter I believe Jamal Murray got a pick and roll zagi and because they went to a little

For like a little switch option and it was really a show and recover and so Jamal Murray gets Z naji’s man on him they do like a nice little show and then as they’re recovering Z Cuts so what Jamal Murray does he has the ball on his

Left hand he stops shifts the ball to his right hand at the top of the key and while they’re trying to recover in the process of showing and then recovering and trying to get back to the original man Jamal dumps the ball off of a bounce

Pass right in between him and it leads to a zek Naji dunk and again it’s just like Jamal’s playmaking with Zeke’s improved confidence plus pton Watson jump shot plus Christian Brown getting confident again that bench unit man and this is not including the fact that in the playoffs they’re going to have

Gordon they’re going to have Porter or kcp staggering with those lineups man they’re just figuring some stuff out and you could just tell the team as a whole they’re just elevating and I think if you look at the trend in the data the Nuggets bench has been winning their

Minutes more often than not now it doesn’t mean that when they get to every setting versus every team they’re going to win those minutes but I think a lot of this and I talked about this before a little bit is stabilizing can Jamal Murray with four bench players for Jamal

With three bench players in ag can we stabilize when jic leaves the game the nuggets are more likely up or tied or they’re very much in the game and if you can put yic back in the game in a situation where they have a slight lead to a big lead or

The game is tied or it’s a small deficit that allows for yish to come back in the game and again dictate Pace dictate pace for what everybody’s going to be doing and again I just think Payton Watson and Christian Brown they’re just such big parts of the team in the future but also

Today today because the Nuggets need them to be good Defenders they need them to be confident and again I I stress this if the if Payton Watson continues to take this stride as a mid-range shooter man it just completely changes the dynamic of what you can expect from

This team so really really proud of how the overall response was yesterday and again the Denver Nuggets were down 22 points in the second quarter so they easily could have rolled over they were down 17 points in a half they easily could have rolled over but I think

There’s a resilience and a toughness they continue to display and it’s infectious it’s infectious like the fact that you can be in a situation where the nuggets are so young Off the Bench with Reggie Jackson obviously but pton Watson Christian and Zeke and Julian they’re so young yet even still in the clutch

Situations in the fourth quarter they’re able to have something rise up out of them and respond so well obviously that’s a lot of their own merath or own development the only time they put in but I think that’s also part of the Denver Nuggets culture if that they have

Just been able to excel in so many important ways and namely in how they think and how they process through clutch time situations or process through leads or deficits or tied games and it just makes you that much more of a stronger more fortified more potent

Player when it matters most man so I’m really really encouraged man I want to give zek Naji his flowers because he has really had to fought through fight through a lot um namely because of injuries and then when he came back from injuries he wouldn’t be as consistent

And so for him to be able to step into the light and to be a consistent backup five they’ve really been going to him more than anything else uh he’s been playing way over DeAndre Jordan as of late to get that kind of play out of

Last season the 33rd game this season the nuggets are 22 and 11 in those clutch games and the Denver Nuggets have a plus 24.3 net rating plus 24.3 net rating in the clutch the nuggets currently their defensive rating had dropped a little bit to third uh in the clut to

98.3 uh the league leader is 97.3 orando magic um and then some of that is again just some of the shots that were being hit overall uh their offense in the clutch last five again the the offense in the clutch in in the NBA in the clutch his last five minutes in a

Five-point game that’s what they consider to be clutch time and the Denver Nuggets offense they’re sitting uh at a 122.5 a 122.5 so just this connection between Elite offense and Elite defense now how does that play out in their record so since February 22nd was the

Day the of the game where the Nuggets came back from the All-Star break since February 22nd the Denver Nuggets are 9-1 they’re 9-1 with a 121.4 offensive rating and a 110.4 defensive rating and they’re a plus 11.0 a plus 11.0 with a true shooting of 62 and an effective field goal percentage of

59 point or 57.9 and the pace is still slow the Nugget slow the game down and they’re going to basically try to beat you down uh in the submission and if you look in the clutch the Denver Nuggets are one of the slowest teams in the NBA as well

They’re just not moving the ball um often at a super high level and so the Nuggets man they are finding their groove at like the perfect time of the season and I think the fact that the nuggets are currently uh what are they 45 and

20 I believe the nuggets are 45 and 20 so if you look at the standings right now in the Western Conference nuggets are 45 and 20 the the the Minnesota timber rules have now dropped to 44 and 21 obviously no car Anthony towns and then the Clippers have dropped to 41 and

22 y’all the nuggets have a three-game lead over the clippers for the four SE seed they have a one game lead over the three seed for the Timberwolves and they got a m they got a half a game beh they’re half a game behind the OKC Thunder this is brilliant brilliant on

Behalf of the Denver Nuggets that they have just been able to kind of as Jamal Murray Miss games weather the storm Jamal Murray was out because of some kind of energy weathered a storm kcp misses some time I think do with the concussion weathered a storm Aaron

Gordon misses a little bit time you weather the storm and what’s great about it is that the nuggets have been able to build around an identity they’re building around an identity they’re building around a community and I just love how committed they have been to doing things the right way and

Especially like I said since the allstar break they’re nine and one since that point and they have a 2.6 assist to turnover ratio since that span so for every single turnover they have the nuggets averaging 2.6 assist with a 62 through shooting that is insane as well as being

One of the best rebounding teams top eight rebounding team over the course of that time as well so what does this mean what can be some of the takeaways from this I think one of the great things is that as the nuggets have kind of ever

Since that text message from n yic which we don’t know what was said ever since that moment the nuggets have just been able to lick lock in to playing their style of basketball and even when they’ve let go of the Rope a little bit namely this game versus Toronto in the

First half or when they got down 20 to the Phoenix Suns even in both of those games they were able to fight back and even if they can’t fight back all the way and clawback to here Victory they’re still doing it they’re still doing it and it’s teaching them healthy habits

It’s teaching them healthy habits that they can take with them to the playoffs and that’s the thing that separates the Nuggets I think from everybody is that they’re playing playoff offense playoff defense right now not every game as you’ve seen but a lot of this is how do

We continue to put ourselves in situations where we know that we can get to these actions we can get to these different sets and on Def defense we know we can lock in versus anybody which LeBron and AD KD and Booker Jason and and and Jaylen or Giannis and Dame

Whoever we just feel like we can get to our spot and we can take care of business and I think so much of an NBA championship it starts in the little stuff it starts in the little stuff it starts in the preparation starts in how you think and it starts into self belief

And the fact that the nuggets have just been able to continue to like it’s just like it’s like when you’re building something for the first time you have to lay a foundation the foundation has been being laid for years but every so often when you want to add to the Masterpiece

Before it’s this created this final created product you have to just continue to to add layer by layer and this is what they’re doing they’re just layering themselves layering themselves with blowout win versus team they should blowout layering themselves versus Clutch wins in games that they honestly

Shouldn’t have been in the clutch game with Toronto Raptors they’re layering themselves versus the presumed best team in the NBA in the Boston Celtics and so if they’re constantly layering their team and their identity and their culture with opportunities to win and opportunities to win in the Denver

Nuggets way it just sets them apart and niika yic man he is really obviously spearheading that um just because he obviously is in Pace on Pace to win his third MVP uh in the last four years many are saying um should be four in a row

Straight um but I think the fact that joic is at this point where he’s just the sole Mastermind 35 points 17 rebounds 12 assists six steals two blocks whatever whatever if that’s what you need in order to win I can do it versus is the Golden State Warriors 32

Points 16 rebounds 16 assists whatever you need me to do I can lock in and get that done there’s something so powerful to believing in who you are believing in your identity and being willing to commit commit to playing the right way and doing the right thing all the time

And that’s why the nuggets are not in one that’s why they’re winning versus playoff teams and that’s why they’re headed into the playoffs playing so well and I’m really excited to see what it looks like I’m excited for the Miami Heat matchup on Wednesday I’m excited for the Dallas Mavericks matchup that’s
