Stephen A. names Jaylen Brown the NBA’s best 2nd option & talks Celtics ☘️ | First Take YT Exclusive

Good day welcome into First Take exclusively on YouTube we got Stephen A let’s get it some hoops to get into it was no Tatum no problem for the Celtics as Boston handled the Pistons to win their sixth straight and maintain a hefty lead in the East Tatum sat out

With an ankle injury but Jaylen Brown stepped up and showed out 31.7 rebounds Brown has been balling out all this season he’s tied for the team lead in clutch time field goals and when Jason Tatum is out he steps up averaging almost 33 points per game and he has

Scored at least 20 points points in every single game since the allstar break so ESS who’s the best second option in the NBA today why shouldn’t it be jayen brown the Boston Celtics are the best team in the NBA you see that he’s averaging 32 on 50% shooting

Whenever Jason Tatum is not on the court with them so that means you have somebody that’ll pick up the slack when your number one star player is out on top of all of that we saw that this is no flute because in the NBA finals against the Golden State Warriors a

Couple of years ago Jaylen Brown would have been the MVP if the Boston Celtics had won because he was playing the best basketball of any Celtic and so I take that into consideration and I say he is no fluke he averaged 26 last year averaging 24 25 this year um he can put

Up 30 or 40 at a moment’s notice he can get to the basket he’s athletic he’s tenacious um he can ball and he’s about that and so for me I look at it and I say listen Jamal Murray is is Big Time and he’s a champion and we can’t ignore

That Anthony Davis is a champion we can’t ignore that when I look at somebody that says okay my man is not here give me the Reigns and I’ll make sure you don’t miss him that much that J Brown so he did puts up 33 all right let’s dive into the Celtics they’ve been

Blowing out teams all season long Boston has turned up the heat especially lately making history by becoming the first team ever to make 23es and four straight games they’re riding a six-game win streak in all six have been by double digits so they have seven more wins than

Any other team in basketball obviously been do dominant what’s the biggest obstacle to the Celtics winning the title finally getting over that hump with this rendition well I think that they can’t depend you can’t be too dependent on the threes that would be a mistake don’t go that route don’t do

That um because if you do that then you’re you’re you’re alleviating some of the things or you’re omitting some of the things that work to your advantage your athleticism your ability to exploit mismatches all of those things come into play Boston can get too relying on the

Three at times and I think that’s a mistake against the better more Elite teams in the NBA remember they lost against the Denver Nuggets twice this year the reigning defending NBA champions but what happened when Boston is struggling they’re usually Limited in terms of their efficiency from three-point range you don’t want to

Depend on that Denver Nuggets will not depend on that the true Championship squads like a Milwaukee they’re not going to depend on that and so you got you can’t do that either yeah utilize it and what have you launch them but it can’t be at a 44 to 45 number clip that

Can’t be they can’t be launching 44 4 five threes a game like they were doing earlier this year that to me is what worries me about Boston pretty much nothing else how big is the gap between them and the Nuggets well there is no Gap as far as I’m concerned there are

People that saying the nuggets are Head and Shoulders above I completely disagree with that Boston is right there Boston to me was my favorites to win the championship this year could they lose to Denver in the finals absolutely but could they beat Denver yes and the two

Games they lost to Denver they were both Thrillers they both came down to the wire One play here and there would have determined it came down to the last second Jason Tatum miss a wide open three you know uh in Boston they lost by two points 102 to 100 I look at the

Boston Celtics particularly with Chris STS porzingis with tayen Whit brown with an elite defensive back court in white and Holiday I’m like yo along with the production they’re getting from their bench I consider Boston the best team in the NBA they don’t have joic but they do

Have Tatum and brown and I think that Tatum and brown are great enough to offset what joic and Murray can do they just have to bring their aame to do that all right let’s get into some action here quick take for you the two monster dunks in the NBA last night Anthony

Edwards with a Jordan s Throwdown also Atlanta’s Jaylen Johnson with a leaping Jam over Austin Reeves so asay who was on the worst end of their poster dunk was it John Collins or Reeves well I definitely think it was John Collins I mean I know Reeves got dunked on here

Trying to take the offensive foul that wasn’t going to work in the case of John Collins he dunked not only did he dunk but he got knocked upside his head so he was hurt when he went to the floor plus his feelings were hurt because he was

Posterized Okay so so so he got his feelings hurt he got he got he got he got knocked upside his head and it was while he was jumping to contest the dunk Austin Reed just tried to draw an offensive foul that’s all that was that can happen to anybody especially a guy

That’s a legit 610 who was doing the dunk Anthony Edwards is a Skywalker and literally skyw walked on John Collins knocked him upside his head okay and definitely hurt his feelings yeah you hurt my feelings a few times today on the show but really yeah do you have feelings whatever thanks for

  1. Im a celtics fan, but i will say denver knows how to play basketball as a team. The Celtics are athleticism and one on one skill. Itll be interesting. We will have to see what happens when things get tough who really believes deep down they will win. I see the celtics unravelling to stephen a's point jaylen brown would have won mvp of the finals im not sure jayson tatum would want to win unless he was the mvp. I see a lot of legacy chasing and cry babying on the celtics who gets what for credit. Joker is the opposite and its refreshing to see the best not manipulating stats, score 50 and sit out due to back spasms so you dont dip your averages and be fully fresh for your next game. sit for a tough team and go out and play against crap teams fully rested type of stuff. the rest issue in the nba would be fixed if you sit it counts for your yearly stats as a average of zeros. It would actually be a more accurate way of keeping stats who has the most impact on a nba season and these guys would play even if they werent 100 to maintain their true stats of the year. They say numbers dont lie but when you ignore or leave out numbers in math you get the desired outcome thats not factual. Thats why the guys in the 80s and 90s just played they didnt think of every way to spruce their numbers up for pay days. NBA has pretty much turned into individual entities brands over team success.

  2. First time in a while I've agreed with SAS, if JB and JT play there level of basketball to where we know they can? They absolutely should beat Denver and offset Joke and Murray.

  3. So happy he’s getting the credit as opposed to Devin Booker. Book is good, but he’s always hurt amd Suns are 8th in west with a Big 3. Stop it

  4. Best 2nd option? Idk about that, he's up there but, imo Devin Booker & Kyrie are better, & maybe even Dame even though his stats are down from his usual, which is understandable, it's the first time he's been a 2nd option in over a decade. JB is just on a very good well-rounded team. Idk if he could be the 1st option on any championship caliber team, if he was the 1st option, he'd probably be just like a T-Mac, leading teams to the playoffs as a low seed & having early exits, & T-Mac's way more skilled. I have JB in Fantasy Bball, so I pay attention to his games pretty often, & he has a lot of bad nights. People might think JB is the best 2nd option, because Tatum is still pretty inconsistent as well as a 1st option, so sometimes JB outplays JT. Lol

  5. Idk who the 2nd option is for the Celtics. Jaylen or Jayson.
But I know for sure he isn’t a better 2nd option than Damian Lillard with 24/4/7 (dame becomes Portland dame when giannis is out also)

  6. JB is not number 2. JT and JB are 1A and 1B as far as I’m concerned. Can’t go wrong with either one.

  7. Jaylen is not better than Booker, Kyrie, AD, Dame, Murray, Sabonis or Paul George. Stop it. He is easy to lock up in big games cuz he plays one handed. Stupid people

  8. I promise y’all Steven A is going to renig and pick against the Celtics when the playoffs come just watch ! Prisoners of the moment

  9. It’s no huge gap between tatum n brown , BUT, those of u who saying brown is the Celtics best player have horrible basketball knowledge

  10. The key to Bostons success right now is their top 3 options could all be first options on their own team.
