First time he admits he doesn’t watch the NBA

  2. Morezingis

It’s a good thing he’s paid to analyze NBA games.

  3. Accurate-Albatross34

You should probably add that this is talking about college ball specifically, Though I do agree, that it has been way more entertaining and exciting this year than mens college basketball.

  4. COTEReader

Same. Men’s college basketball is full of nobodies

  5. GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

By “watching women’s college basketball” he means 1 or 2 LSU games.

  6. Shaq’s just mad that Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley are asked to cover the men’s tournament and he isn’t.

  7. FIRE_GEO_ARBITRAGE

Shaq has said that he barely watches NBA games – even though his job depends on it.

He has watched a few LSU highlights if that. Aside from the game he attended in person.

  8. Pheonix641164

Can anyone say he’s wrong though…?

  9. Mesmerized_mayhem

You have to wonder if people are just looking for good guy clout with statements like this. It would be far more believable to say something like “I’ve really been enjoying women’s college basketball the last few years and watch it just as much if not more than men’s”.

  10. ihaveabonersoup

Giving real “I’m not like the other girls” attitude

  11. CoolingVent

He was near courtside for the men’s big 12 championship game on Saturday lol

  12. RichardIraVos

Mf doesn’t watch the nba and it’s his job to, like he’s actually watching women’s college basketball lmao

  13. Throwawayhobbes

I watching Virginia and Colorado state right now .
At half time Virginia has 14 points . It’s the worst game I have ever seen and they are fucking up my bracket.

Women’s college basketball is better than the wnba.

I’d watch it over the wnba all day everyday.

  15. HerbertJone510

Not going to lie, I’ve enjoyed women’s college basketball more than men’s these last 2 seasons and I hate it. Started with Caitlin clark and branched off onto other games.

  16. mtnsandmusic

He’s not wrong. Iowa women’s bball is at least 2x as entertaining as any men’s team. The games are fast paced, high scoring and intense/competitive.

I still watch more MBB but it is depleted by transfer portal, coaching carousel, and early entry. There is no continuity or identity with most teams year to year.

  17. ufailnoavail

He’s right. Women’s ncaa has really been the only product that’s not absolute dog shit this year.

  18. ProductIntrepid4675

I’d say that women college basketball legit has more stars than the men. Caitlyn Clark, Angel Reese, Flau’jae, Paige Bueckers etc are all more popular than the guys. If those notable names jump to the WNBA and dominate than that league will be hella more popular in the future

  19. I bet Shaq says this having watched less than 5 games combined between mens and women’s college basketball. Likely hasn’t actually sat down and watched a full game.

  20. 304rising

I tune into Caitlin Clark games. Other than that, women’s college basketball still remains a jump ball brick fest.

  21. ShoutOutTo_Caboose

I’m more excited for the women’s tournament this year too.

  22. _picture_me_rollin_

I love Shaq but I find it hard to believe that he watches any basketball lol.

  23. Beauxtato

he’s not wrong. men’s college basketball is barely better than high school basketball. so many bad plays, turnovers, ugly shots. all of the good players go to the NBA after a year. womens play it through because there’s no financial benefit to leave NIL for an underpaid womens NBA. mens college basketball is only popularized because of the sports / bracket betting

  24. discourse_lover_

Boy, they’re really gaslighting us now aren’t they?

  25. MannerSuperb

Ok? He wouldn’t saying this if LSU on the men’s side also made the tourney lol

  26. bigbluenation20

He’s also likely saying this because his daughter is playing college ball next year at Florida.

  27. I don’t know if it’s a better game, but I went to a game before the tournament and it was super fun.

  28. bryant-reeves

He jokes, but the state of the NBA needs serious attention. This drive n’ kick + 4seconds or less offence + all guards chucking w/ the same offence is boring as shittttttt.

  29. millardfillmo

This is the first year where this is a reasonable conversation. When they put the pictures of the women’s players up I knew the whole roster of 6 primetime players.

  30. RDDTModsSuckBBC

and this motherfucker is a commentator for the NBA. Imagine you saying something like this about your job.

  31. JGxFighterHayabusa

The Feb. 15 UCLA-Oregon St. women’s game had one of the greatest finishes I’ve ever seen. Totally understandable to see some people more excited about the women’s tournament.

  32. __Red_Baron_

I agree. This is why I always rank Rebecca Lobo over Shaq, all-time.

  33. EcstaticActionAtTen

And we’re still going to have “men are sexist and don’t want to watch women’s basketball” discussions when both her and Caitlin go to the WNBA and no one watches, again.

  34. poonhound69

Same, Shaq, same.  I’ve watched a ton of women’s college bball this year, and almost zero men’s college or nba. A commentator during a women’s game mentioned that since most of the women can’t dunk, the game is more driven by fundamentals and less by pure, raw athleticism. I see that distinction constantly now. The women’s game has just been way more enjoyable to watch, at least for me.
