Doc Rivers Postgame Press Conference | 03.20.24
Back you said before the game it was kind of about weathering punches and kind of staying with it I mean to get you know from 21 down in the fourth within you know possession what did you think of the guy that was you know through a couple other big earlier yeah
It was it was one of those games where they kept getting the lead we kept fighting back so uh as far as that that you you love that like uh we did keep fighting um you know we end up shooting the ball better than them tonight I
Thought our Zone was really effective uh mixing back Zone man uh it just it it made them hesitate what they were running and that helped us um we had a lot of self-inflicted wounds tonight uh with turnovers um offensive rebounds bad possessions um you know and then bad possessions defensively you know
Switching when we shouldn’t switch fouling you know late um but all of those are great things for us like to watch film and to learn and get better at so so this is a really good learning opportunity for us this is the way I look at it you mentioned the turnovers I
Think 14 of the 15 were in the first three quarters yeah and that was almost a counter for the entire D yeah you know it did for the Matched throughout the game for the most part um and it’s one thing if they were you know if they were
Like forced there were they were just we had some bad ones tonight and so uh we’ll watch it we’ll see it uh I thought there were stretches when we got stuck offensively and whenever we did that’s usually when a turnover happen um you know these games they’re they’re good
Learners for our guys I thought they were stretchers everyone was trying to do too much um and you don’t need to do that just do your job uh do what you’re supposed to do um move the ball keep playing and it works out for you and I
Thought the best part of the fourth quarter I thought we trusted that and that’s what happened uh we’ve seen teams try to put bigger players on Dame who’s 65 66 guys um how do you feel like he’s gotten better at handling that yeah we didn’t work I told Dame that’s even who
Cares like I kept saying that who cares who’s guarding you um you know I have say it to him all he can’t I I use the word I’m being I don’t even want to say it but I always say he can’t guard you either I I say that to him all the time
Um okay you know you know make him guard you and I thought with Dame the adjustment he made he start going to the basket more uh in the second half and I thought that was good for him um I thought when we fell we had pick opportunities they put bigs on our
Guards uh and our guards let our big set picks who were being guarded by a guard we worked on it the last two days like no let the guard set the pick with the five on them uh that creates chaos for them I didn’t think we did that very
Well um so we’ll do better the next time um Bobby it just gets hot in that quarter what what do you think of the Boost he brought you he was amazing you know I thought he was going too fast in the first half you know he w win too bad
You know that happens uh but I thought once he settled down he was fantastic you know we we drew up a three-point play for him out of a timeout you know you know and he made it uh Dame took a charge you know so there were there were
A lot of good things that we did tonight I think Chris got up to 34 five minutes uh just how’ you feel 32 3 30 how’ you feel about him out there tonight is that plan for him to play Don’t round it off high round it off low you let him play
Yeah yeah yeah you know the number was 30 tonight and so two extra minutes all right uh that wasn’t that bad he felt great uh he wanted to stay in I hated to take him out that one stretch he just made a shot but we’re looking at his
Minutes and you had to take him out it just our whole thought was if we made a run um we could have him for the last three minutes but he set for like 6 minutes so he got put in a tough situation Chris with that Ben unit in
The first half kind of bled some points in the second half they big plus they help you stay in that game fourth just what you see was the difference we got stops you know in the first half I thought we played great offensively with that unit we just you know um priter
Happen uh in the second half we guarded all of the guys and our second unit made a big run uh Pat Beverly uh with Chris Middleton on the floor you know it’s good it was really good doc how much of a game like this in the Arena like this
The environment how much of it is mental you know everything is mental uh as far as I’m concerned I mean we all work you know what I mean at some point um all that goes out and becomes the whole game is between the years in my opinion I
Think um you know seeing the actions before being focused not being distracted by a bad call uh by the crowd noise um and I think the more situations you get in this you get better at it um we have guys have never been in these situations and so uh that’s where like
Listen the Celtics and teams they have that Advantage right now um because they’ve been in a lot I mean what they’ve been in five Eastern Conference Finals or whatever one finals uh but we’re going to get there too you know and we’re going to just
Keep growing and you can feel it you can feel the confidence in our team uh even tonight no moral victories I told him that let’s not go have a party tonight cuz we lost uh but it was just the you know the battle we didn’t lose the war
You know it was the battle and they won the battle tonight yeah the war’s ahead of us you um I think it was couple weeks ago talked about maybe going offense defense for Dame and P you able to do that tonight I guess what went into that
And then also we had a Time the foul though either no we just can’t foul but uh we had a timeout you know typically I’ve kept Dame in defensively but I wanted us to be very aggressive and pressure the ball and I also thought Dam
Had been out there for a while so so uh I knew we were going to get a timeout uh give him 30 seconds of rest and get them right back in and that’s what we did uh didn’t work cuz they we fou doc Jason Tatum went the entire third quarter
Without taking a shot I love that I I think I think he should do that all the time it be fantastic I thought the Zone was the reason for that because um they’re moving the ball around and um by the time it got to him it it just no
Time to shoot I thought they made a nice adjustment they just gave him the ball and went ISO you know which it’s pretty good when you’re Jason Tatum you know was a good adjustment you mentioned being happy with the Zone I think there’s a Derek white three with like
Six minutes left yeah you throwing your hands up in the it was a bad rotation because we we we what we call Omaha we we went Omaha uh which means double team and the next guy was there and he stun it that that was a full rotation and he
Just stun it and it was an easy rotation cuz they put a guy in a dunker spot which actually helps us uh he knew it but you know that was a big three so you know we’ll we’ll see that and get better at it uh against the Suns you had
Decided AJ kind of over Gallow what you like about the match up tonight just size you know uh I thought it was great and I thought Gall was really good today um you know they they they kept putting two bigs on the floor that allowed us to
Play gal and all the other guys so it was good for us

Give MarJon and AJ some playing time.
Man I missed Khris Middleton so much
Zone serves the Bucks well against fast teams. Big circle when they got it at the perimeter and collapse the circle when they take it to the lane. Stay in for the rebounds.
This was a moral win, Boston may have won traditionally but real hoppers and hoop fans know the Bucks took this
Brown guarding Dame before he even passed half court was wild because Brown did all that just for Dame to be the best scorer in the game😂
I told this team on Twitter that they need to attack this Celtics team at the basket and stop settling for the outside shots and to not waste possessions. Beasley needs to tuck the ball and attack the basket to get a warm scoring rhythm and then start launching his 3s instead of just start launching 3s and continue missing.
"Prichard happened" is right. That dude was on one.
We fought. I wanna see us figure bostons bullshit out
Too many self inflicted wounds
The Celtics are just a better team than the bucks. even if Gianni’s would have played the Celtics still would have won. Bucks just don’t, have the talent. they are to slow and undisciplined.
Bucks best lineup is Dame, Middleton, Portis, Giannis, Lopez. When Celtics are small with Porzingis at the 5 Bucks have to start posting up Brook, Portis, and Giannis more when they get a small on them. Stay big and make teams match size by attacking the paint consistently which will also lead to either open 3 ball kick outs or and 1 finishes around the rim. This will allow Bucks to control game tempo as well playing this style which allows you to set up defense. And also don’t overreact to Celtics 3 point shooting. Of course they can get hot but they also get cold as well and they are relying on defenders rotation momentum to keep you on your heels so that they can drive and kick to find open shooters. You have to stay solid and honest on close outs against them and own your space like doc said. Make them make the long range shots. I wouldn’t give up anything in the paint or bail them out with fouls. They would have to shoot over 45 percent from 3 in a 7 game series to even have a chance to beat bucks playing this way. The Celtics are playing at there ceiling right now but once the Bucks work out all of their kinks, there ceiling will far exceed any others contenders in the league
Bench Brook he’s soft and can’t out rebound Prichard
In a 7 game series we beating the Celtics they don’t have no heart they don’t have no dawg on them we beating them mark my words
Defense is still a problem for the Bucks.
Not one question on how bad Brook was. Blocked at the rim by guy 6’8, outrebounded by a guy 6’1. He is terrible now
The best thing to happen for the Celtics is the day this man left to join the Clippers, good riddance 👋
hild dat you bucks 😂
Ok here it is my honest opinion. To the Bucks' fans start to celebrate the team looks like's getting ready for the play offs and they gonna do some serious damage there. To the Boston fans now, no matter how good Boston looks right now this is regular time and to me they have to prove them selves when it matters the most which means at the play offs, they never had any success all these years they always lose at that point so until they pass this rock and go straight to the finals to me they don't get much credit for nothing.
Doc trust Beasley way to much dude doesn’t show up in big games
Need stop playing pat con and gallanari
