[Nets Daily] I’m told Nets primary strategy is to TRADE for big stars, like Phoenix did with KD and Beal, not signing big FAs, which will take longer. They think they can use the firsts they have, their own, the traded picks from Suns, Mavs and 76ers, to bring back stars.

Just trade all future picks for stars. A tried and proven strategy!

We’re just one measley Devin Booker away from having to trade for another star.

This year couldn’t have gone worse. Trading all our picks will be the cherry on top

KD, Kyrie situation must’ve been like the FO first taste of hard core crack. They are straight delusional at this point. I can’t wait for another 2nd round exit after giving up the farm.

It’s transparently obvious that ownership and front office don’t give a fuck about doing the intelligent thing and commit to a long term rebuild and have sacrificed this teams future ceiling for short sighted and short term financial interests.

Let’s play this out under the trade for stars scenario. We still have to stay under the luxury tax next season to be free of it, so the only option is trading Ben Simmons contract to facilitate a trade. Presuming we are trading for say Mitchell or KAT, even if they demanded a trade KD style and said they’d only go to Brooklyn the price to offload that albatross this summer for a top tier player would be astronomical, 5 of our best firsts?? IDK but it would be ridiculous. We couldn’t wait until the deadline and hope the price goes down because if we trot this garbage ass product out there again, we will get the same results or worse and no one wants to be traded to a 30win team. Why would these players want to leave their teams? Why would they want to leave them for us, specifically when compared to other teams with similar assets but better infrastructure? Let’s say we clear all those hurdles and acquire Mitchell, where does that leave Brooklyn? Certainly not a championship contender, I’d say probably 4th or 5th best in the East. Could we improve and add to Mitchell & Bridges? Not through the draft, since we paid out the ass to get here. Not through a trade, most likely, unless a team loves Clax or CamT, whom probably wouldn’t survive the initial trade with Mitchell. So at that point we’d have a mediocre team, and have to hope a free agent will sign and have to re-sign Bridges to a much bigger contract and thats our team.

This is a best case scenario for the trade for stars route and it requires more than a few things to go right for us and wrong for other teams. I honestly don’t understand how you can take a macro view of our current situation and possible futures and decide this is the best path forward. Unless, you have ulterior motives that don’t include sustained success at the basketball level.

I don’t even think Cam or Claxton will be on the team next year.

Seeing shit like this just makes me care less and less about this franchise.

Marks has proven he can do it so I can trust him, but everyone forgets that big 3 was a toenail away from probably winning a chip.

Big injuries to key players stopped that nets team from being successful (and a global pandemic). Harden would’ve stayed if we won a chip in ’21

Ben’s salary, 2-3 of the suns, mavs, philly picks they have to get a C-B level star this summer

Hope that C-B level star paired with this shit team can be competitive enough to be a playoff team

Then pray that it is attractive enough for another star in summer free agency of 2026 which it wont be

Then they’ll overpay for mid role players summer 2026

Cap themselves as a mediocre 6-8 seed

    Promise you this happens

Who is even in a spot to be traded? Trae I guess would be a good fit. Going down the list of stars, everyone else seems to be in a good spot.

  11. A_ManNamedJayne

Have they NOT learned from doing this before?

  12. onlyequity

This is a poor strategy. Reeks of desperation. Marks should not be in charge any longer he’s trying to salvage his reputation not build a contender.

  13. He’s gonna trade Cam Thomas for a star that will ask out after a year

  14. BackToTheMoon_

Its really pretty incredible that they have been in Brooklyn since 2012 and have never drafted in the lottery

  15. Grendel_82

Folks can laugh. But I will die on the hill that but for injuries KD, Harden and Kyrie would have won it all. And Kyrie sitting out as a Covid protest is not something that Marks could have seen coming.

The core of the current Nets roster is perfect for a first option superstar scorer to join.

  16. Future_Network_2158

Like I keep saying I’ve reached the point where I’m just lost and don’t care about this team. Marks is delusional and tsai is an even bigger fool for enabling him

  17. Relax everyone – Ain’t one star in this league who wants to come here.
