Team chemistry aside, some serious dips in Steph’s overall numbers this year. What kind of pieces can genuinely help complement the current Stephen Curry, forget the prime one. Because I genuinely believe, as someone who has watched him for 10 plus years, that he’s a smart enough player to get 1 more ring with the right pieces, and without leaving the Bay Area.

nah, he need a good enough team to rest a (standard for him) 20 games every season and that team should still hold their ground at 10-10 or at worst 8-12, that’s not even close to current dubs. The problem is not Klay or Draymond or Wiggins or CP3 or Poole or Wiseman – the problem is a lot of them simultaneously.
You basically asking Curry to carry for 75 games and if he isn’t – “what have you done for me lately”. And I’m not even blaming dubs fans – I know that they are spoiled by EASIEST DOMINATION EVER for years. They are not ready to watch hardcore basketball, they want to have a good news every day
I think Steph has dropped off a bit but he’s still elite.
The problem is that the league has evolved around him while the warriors haven’t. Other teams are more skilled, larger and athletic. The warriors are old, small and unathletic. The league has figured out how to defend the Warriors for the most part as well.
Honestly, our whole issue is the age thing. Too old AND too young. Our defensive issues, lineup issues, coaching issues, close game issues, and offensive spells are all heavily exacerbated by our age. If everyone was a prime player, we would be a very good team. Can the young guys catch up in time? That’s the question. If not, we need major trades or it’s another year like this. If they can mature quickly, we might be able to get away with a smaller trade or adjustment.
Kuminga has a really bright future, I can absolutely see him being a star in the future. But I doubt he’s going to be the player we need while the core has good years left. Trading him while his value is high this off season for a solid role player that fits the team’s needs would be a good move.
Love Steph.
You’d prob need a full reset.
If you look at Dray now compared to when he came back from the 20+ game suspension. He looks tiring and is hurting. Whilst when he first came back, he was flying around everywhere and raising our Defense intensity. Point is, we just don’t have enough gas.
Given our high payroll. There’s no way we can put a team around him that is younger and athletic and mature and in their peak years. Curry will be making over $50 million until his contract runs out. That’s a TON committed to one player.
For those who say “we owe it to Curry to build a championship team.”
I’d say, the team is paying him handsomely. And that’s how they’re taking care of him.
The movement offense the Warriors run is obsolete. They can’t depend on something the whole league has figured out, age has caught up, and having a stubborn coach who doesn’t want to adapt has all played a factor the last two years. Podz and TJD were excellent picks but that Wiseman draft will kill the Warriors for a while. Rebuild like before and keep moving forward. I’ll always be a Warriors fan because NorCal is my home.
Steph not being the best PG in the league has been the weirdest thing this year. Feels really awkward
Steph is still elite but he needs a team around him, horrible spacing and a dated offensive system from Kerr doesn’t create any type of quality shots for him
Also Kerr is just icing Steph every game it feels like when we know he is a rhythim player
Also Steph basically had no rest this season, he had to play every back 2 back because the team is just dogshit without him
Give Steph an actual 2nd option and great things will happen
Lebron got AD, KD got Booker, Luka got Kyrie, Jokic got Murray, Giannis got Dame…who does Steph have?? A lazy ass Wiggins, a highly inconsistent Klay! We have Kuminga who is absolutely amazing and still very young but right now you can’t ask Kuminga yet to be the 2 guy on a Championship team. Steph needs another shot maker who actually draws defenders next to him.
Steph has just gotten old.
After being on-peak for so many years and spearheaded the Ws to 4 chips, it’s logical that he can’t carry hard like he did in 2022.
Age is undefeated. Sincerely, Father Time.
Translation he’s getting old
That’s why I’ve been saying we cant expect him to carry the way he used to. That’s what age does and Steph as good as he is obviously will experience some decline. It’s the drop off of the guys in their prime that’s an issue more than anything though. Wiggins, GP2 and Looney.
Remember yall said this in 2022
They should move on with their small ball lineup. The league has caught up with their plays plus they lack a consistent 2nd scorer and rim defender. They know what the problem is but it’s as if they’re still not aware.
At this point, I’m growing tired of the ‘age’ comment and am convinced that a lingering injury/ailment is being buried.
The man doesn’t just fall off of a cliff in what would not even be an entire calendar year, and comparing him as a player as he is now to who he was at the end of last season is almost night and day.
He’s still great, but he’s just off. Age doesn’t cut it for me.
It’s not that Steph is old – the league (especially Western Conf.) is way too skilled for one player to carry anymore. Steph just needs more help.
