[Smith] There’s a team option on his contract, (Bruce Brown) which put him in the unique position of being on an expiring contract now and on an expiring contract next season too. I can see the Raptors picking up the contract and finding a bigger deal to put him into.

Brown has hit the lottery
Heard the same thing about Thad lol.
I really thing his late option would be most valuable for a team that needs or wants to make cap disappear.
If we are essentially punting next season as well it makes sense to trade him for a bad contract and get some draft compensation, young players etc.
I’m trying to think of a deal that could work given his contract. I doubt a contender has the cap space to make a move for Bruce, or is actively willing to trade for him at that contract
Maybe Bruce and a couple seconds for Collins? Heck, Bruce for Ben Simmons, give him a year and see if he can still be effective?
Just decline the option and get it over with. It’s a sunk cost at this point. Use the cap space elsewhere in free agency
His contract makes no sense with the level of production he’s giving. Getting a ring will get you paid, he’s supposed to be a contending pieces role player off the bench but how would any contender be able to afford him. I see him getting bought out by someone or used to take on a bad contract. After his deal ends I doubt any team would give him half of what he makes now.
Surprised he wasn’t flipped for a pick before deadline. With the team as is doesn’t really make sense to sign him.
Man.. pacers really swindled us…..got us to give them our best almost tallest player who can score and defend for a short inconsistent player who would barely make our second team bench
Oh God lmao Smith must know how fans would react to this 😂
