Kornet appreciation post

So impressed with this guys turn around after the new year, went from one of our weakest rotation players to one of our most important off the bench. So glad he’s been able to step up into this role, it’s really a luxury to be able to rest KP and/or Al and not worry about our starting Center being able to make an impact. Bravo Luke.

  1. I don’t think Luke’s turnaround is as big as people believe it is. This is a very similar guy to last year, but he’s doing everything a little bit better. He’s improved for sure, but I think he proved last year that he could be relied upon consistently. He may have been one of our “weaker” rotation players, but that’s not because he was bad, it’s because the rest of the rotation was so good.

I thought that our bench was underrated coming into the season and I think people, (outside of Celtics fans), are catching up in that thinking.

    He’s been outstanding.
But he is horrible against good teams and has been the reason for most of these 4th quarter runs by good teams.
Most recently Mil and Cleveland (esp Cleveland)
I never want to see him play against elite teams.
When he is in during the 4th he gets the other team rolling so hard it makes it nearly impossible to stop them when the starters come back.
But he is killing middle of the pack teams and it’s great.

As I’ve said from my comment the other day, Kornet is the best backup big that we have after Big Al and it’s not even close.

He might not have the lateral quickness of X and the potential upside of Neemy, but his defensive positioning, IQ, screens, timing, lob threat, passing is what makes Joe choose him after Big Al.

    Hopefully he stays with us.
