I’ll get it and I said exactly the same thing after the Philly game and then in the third quarter we got outscored 3227 again over 30 points and I did say in the third segment of yesterday’s episode that if we’re not sharper defensively we’re going to get blown out

Of the gym because they are a high-powered offense that generates a lot of open shots that from Tyrese halton’s pick and roll prowess but also now they have Pascal cakam a second offensive Hub they can go to and that adds their defensive versatility and you could really feel him this game with him

Guarding Kawai not to say he locked anything up but you could really feel that it wasn’t like Kawai was getting us a good shot every time down the floor it didn’t feel like anyone on our team was getting us a good shot every time down the floor fourth quarter was where the

Collapse happened and it honestly started towards the end of the third we lose the fourth 3627 and at one point of the fourth quarter we’re down by 20 20 unacceptable Clippers lose it 133 to 116 now let’s start with the nice guy version Clippers shot 54% offense was

Pretty good they just didn’t make their threes only 30% from three and they were six for 20 from three that’s not that many three-point attempts why is that well clearly the Indiana Pacers had a strategy of running the clippers off the line and putting pressure on the ball do

You know why that is because they know that we struggle to get by players they know we do and they switched a lot especially without Turner in the game because with Turner they like him in drop covers to keep him around the rim when Jaylen Smith was in

And other lineups like Obi toppen at the five they would a lot and we don’t do a good job of breaking down defenses which is crazy right considering how we started the season with Harden or should I say started or got into the groove with Harden and

That’s really what it comes down to in terms of the offensive drop off kawh Leonard he had 26 points in this game Paul George had 26 points in this game now I’m starting to think that still might not be enough they might need to have 30 a piece the way it’s

Looking kawh Leonard 26 points on 11 for 18 shooting Paul George 26 points on 12 for 18 shooting they shot a combined three for six from three only six three-point attempts for both of them that sounds like Paul George or kawii Leonard’s three-point field goals for a

Game three for six Paul George was two for four kawhai was 1 for two so they both shot 50% but the Pacers I thought they just did a really good job job every time we tried to get Paul George or kawhai coming off curls or flare screens they were just locking and

Trailing very well running them off the line and they knew that they weren’t going to fully be able to get the step they obviously get the step coming off a screen but they defense can recover and when we have non-shooters out there sometimes even two sometimes even three

Which was part of the reason why we ended up collapsing we went with PJ Tucker after he had a bad first half other than a couple of decent defensive possessions he was a complete liability offensively in a sense that teams will double off of him and we do not punish

Them in any way and you know we have Russell Westbrook back in this game and the crowd was loving it he actually had a pretty decent game defensively he was just okay nobody was better than okay in my opinion again defensively just like the Philly game but I will say Russ got

To the basket he had some nice LOB passes over the top to Kawai in the third quarter and it was funny because Kawai started out very quiet in this game because Paul George he actually had the favorable match up to start the game uh they had halberton on Terrence man

Pascal on Kawai Andrew nard on Harden and I thought he did a pretty decent job at the point of attack which I was surprised by and then Turner and Zoo matched up and they had Shephard on PG and if you’re like Shepard who’s Ben Shepard I don’t know much about him

Either but Paul and and that clearly was enough reason for Paul George to go at him to start the game and you started to see some mid post touches in the on the first couple of possessions and he had six points in the first quarter and I just loved how

Aggressive he was being three for four from the field and it was funny because kawhai hadn’t scored for a little bit to start the game and then all of a sudden he got going towards the end of the quarter nine points he ended the first quarter with on three for three shooting and

Obviously played the entire thing so good stuff from them there and Paul George in general you know he had 13 points in the first half and you it’s funny he actually had the same amount of points in the second half but it didn’t feel like it for a while I

Think he was much better in the first half personally but Paul George was the favorable matchup for a while and then second half didn’t feel like we had any favorable matchup nobody was getting by their Defender Paul George I mean he looked like he was playing decent defense he had a nice

Takeaway and he was fairly active but we just struggle to get to the rim Kawai and Harden are not getting by anyone right now especially Kawai we live off tough jump shots the other team is breaking the defense breaking our defense down constantly zubats so zubot plays drop

Coverage right when you play against a pick and pop big you’re giving giving something up you’re always first of all if you’re not switching everything you’re giving something up and pick and roll defensively in today’s NBA with the spacing but when you have in every era

You you talk about when you have a pick and pop big you’re giving something up and Zoo likes to play Drop coverage so if you play Drop coverage you are conceding the pick and pop three or pick and pop jump shot to your man to whoever zoo is guarding to the

Fiveman either you are going to have to rotate anding bring somebody over and make them start passing or you live with that shot from the center and the Clippers were starting to live with it and they were starting to get burned by it Miles Turner had a very good game 24

Points seven rebounds on eight for 12 shooting and four for six from three and for the second straight game the Clippers opponent shot lights out from three and a lot of it you know you can say well they just shot really well from three but how many games are going to

Keep saying this we don’t offer much resistance they shot 61 1% from three 58 from the field they shot lights out 73% from the line they actually shot the same amount of free throws as us they made 16 we made 18 out of 22 we shot 82%

From the line 54% from the field and they only shot one more field goal than us but we didn’t generate threes and they were running us off the line especially Kawai and by the way James Harden when he’s off the ball and the ball is swung to him he needs a lot of

Space to shoot that open three because it seems like he contemplates whether or not to shoot it every time he gets it and it it just kills the flow of The Possession and this is part of the reason why I am so not a fan of his game

Again people really get mad act like I have something personal against the guy I just don’t like how it feels like offensively everything that good that happens needs to happen because he has the ball in his hand and he’s making something happen he is not and that’s

Part of the reason why we’re struggling too is he was starting to shoot that catch and shoot three a lot more willingly and with less hesitation when we were winning games and now he’s just kind of stopping first of all he’s bringing up the ball very slowly we’re

Getting into sets with no matter who is bringing the ball up whether it’s kawhai Paul or Harden we’re taking too long to get into our stuff and get into our actions and a lot of times it’s Harden pounding the ball and then when he gets the ball on the swing he’s not acting

Quickly and when he gets run off the line he doesn’t take the floater anymore regularly he doesn’t he wants to look to kick or dump it off and then sometimes when he does challenge a big he doesn’t really get off the ground Paul George and J I’m sorry Paul

George and kawhai had 26 a piece could they have been better yeah probably should they have been better yeah probably but James Harden 11 points three rebounds seven assists he was low turnover though though I’ll give him that with only one turnover three for seven from the field only

Seven shot attempts 0 for one from three minus 24 people think because he’s efficient that that’s good and it’s not a big deal no he doesn’t generate shot attempts he doesn’t get shots off and part of it is cuz he has a very not diverse shot profile it’s all behind the

Three-point line with him dancing looking for his step back when he drives it’s either a floater or a layup or a push off mid-range that he does not take frequently he does not catch the ball inside the arc to work he does not utilize the fact that he’s very strong

And actually can post up a little bit when he tries and it’s always been that way and he never even had the mid-range part after Dan Tony started coaching him he had gone away from that completely that little push off mid-range and he could get away with it a lot of times

Because he was quicker than everybody and still strong now he does not have the lift he does not have the burst and you’re seeing the the wear and tear of the season the minutes that we played him it’s catching up and kawaiian Paul is catching up as well the collapse

Defend him at all as you guys know I because it’s all Harden stands on YouTube and Twitter they don’t talk to me they know better but and I block so many of them because it’s like some of them I just not just not logical but on

Twitter you help on YouTube you help the algorithm so let you say whatever you want thing is where was I going with that oh I feel as though I’ve defended Harden because maybe my defensive standards are like lowering just subconsciously because now I guess I’m just praying when he’s defending the

Ball that he’s offering some level of resistance and trying his best and even when I see a shot go in I’m like you know what it’s not terrible defense but I’m ignoring that it’s just having a a mid to bad defender in the lineup and he’s not playing mediocre defense

Anymore he’s playing below average defense it’s not like what it was so Mor of the story and I think a lot of people have agreed with this the biggest reason the Clippers aren’t playing as well as they did back in December and January is James Harden very largely does that

Gas towards the end of games and also not be aggressive enough throughout games at times I mean how many games he shot over 20 times this season I’d love to calculate that I’ll have it for the next episode that’s not talking about a post game but it’s just

Not enough then Westbrook got hurt recently it’s just the fact is that after every game tylo’s been saying the same thing we got to get back to doing the little things correctly it just comes down to being Focus for 48 minutes like eventually it’s either your team

Does not care or your team can’t do it I don’t believe that they don’t care I really don’t I’m very quick to call out effort and last year was a lot of that but this year I don’t think it has because they’ve approached the regular season in a way that they’ve tried to

Attack game they’ve tried to play these guys and maybe they’re just old and not used to playing this much maybe that’s part of it and I I should stop saying maybe it definitely is part of it and one of the biggest reasons I was afraid of trading for

Harden is that Kawai and Paul George would have to have a bigger defensive load and they were doing it but what was my biggest fear that whole time can they do it throughout the course of a season and you’re starting to see that they can’t they can’t and teams don’t put

Kawai in the action we might have to go back and the the way we switch so loosely so by the way I can’t believe I didn’t mention this yet the reason why I brought up zubats and drop coverage is Turner was burning Us in the pick and

Pop right so then and by the way zuo had a good first half offensively he was finishing around the the basket there was one time where he had a switch and we actually threw him the ball and he got a double team and did something good he got some offensive rebounds and

Putbacks he had I think eight points and 10 rebounds at halftime but here’s the problem with the Clippers we aren’t doing a good enough job guarding one-on-one period we don’t have any shut down Defenders like that the best thing we have is kawhai who teams are not

Stupid enough to put in the action and we don’t start him on extremely great players now in this game we put him on cakam but again one screen and poof he’s off and you noticed if you’re watching the game closely the Pacers were not switching McDermot onto hardener PG the

Pacers were not switching Tyrese halberton onto PG in the third quarter they were just showing and recovering and a lot of times not until later in the game we were not hitting that short roller quickly enough there was a lot of Harden PG in Kawai just continuing to

Continuing to pound the ball and not hitting that guy that guard setting or rolling in the short roll as far as Russell Westbrook’s impact as I said he came back he tried to get to the basket a couple of times he ended the game with I believe 12 points but let me double

Check 12 points seven assists I’m sorry 14 points 14 points four rebounds seven assists only one turnover on Five for 10 shooting 0 for two from three four for six from the foul line and just 18 minutes that’s pretty good production and I I was disappointed that we took him out I know

He’s coming off the hand injury but they said they wouldn’t be a minutes restriction that’s what the the beat writers were reporting so if he didn’t have a minutes restriction why did Harden come back in that game why he can’t guard anyone and he’s not creating that many good shots and here’s the

Thing we got a lot of good looks that we didn’t make especially from three we did still generate some and their offense was just better they were just making more shots teren man and Amir coffee decent defense better than some others nothing locked down nothing to really write home

About teren man only got 17 minutes he was he had six points and three rebounds on two for five shooting and one for two from three he was a minus 13 as well again another game with teren man was just decent defensively just decent it’s not good enough it’s not good enough zubats

Not good enough in drop coverage cuz I don’t think he was if you’re going to be in drop coverage fine but if you’re dropping that deep after guys have walked into multiple threes you got to start pushing up a bit is that because we’re afraid of our backside protection

Behind him to do anything because we don’t have any power forward and we didn’t want to address that at the deadline I mean every hole in this team is coming out we have used the same guys over and over again and now they’re tired they are tired tied and our answer

Was to go small the rest of the game and now our one-on-one guys we’re trying to switch one through five our guys cannot defend well enough one-on-one seaka was getting whatever he wanted against smaller Defenders whether it be PJ Harden or norm and you know the

Difference between he him and us he has the legs to in the second half go fight for post position in the mid post look at where sakam was Catching the ball our guys in the second halfes Paul George was no longer going to the mid post everything was behind the three-point

Dribbling to look fancy he was like oh man vintage PG baby and I just was like okay made the shot but the process I don’t love against Halbert and dribbling that much it’s just he was one for four in the third Paul George was kawhai played the entire third had 11 points

And was five for nine so I liked how he was getting more aggressive iive but if you look at it Kawai had 20 of his 26 in the third and first quarters again the fourth and second quarters because he’s sitting a bit he’s not getting back in

Any sort of Rhythm and it’s just not good enough from Paul or Kawai and especially Harden and defensively I thought Kawhi and Paul are okay decent better than others this is not good enough look at what I’m saying and then in transition when we start missing shots in the beginning of the

Fourth quarter I mean nobody talking nobody getting back we’re getting beat down down the court because we’re slow and old I don’t know what’s going to happen is there a Rejuvenation found the Lazarus pits I don’t know what has to happen here in the next couple of games

By 15 107 and 92 so we went from down by eight when Kawai was out to down 15 again I don’t think that’s the deci the decider in the game but I mean having a lineup with Westbrook PJ Tucker and zoo was certainly a choice and not a good one by Tai you

Know that should never happen it’s not why we lost the game but he deserves some blame I think everyone in the comment section that to Stan is going to go tie so hard and I think that I don’t know what I’m telling you right now I don’t know what adjustment could save

This team right now I think was not playing Tyson the second half a good idea probably not but his goal is to try to switch everything you know what it is a terrible idea because if his goal is to try to switch everything Ty honestly has shown a little bit more

Physicality and resistance being a one through five switcher than some other guys on our team cuz he hasn’t gotten totally abused on the perimeter even though he’s not an ideal option to switch but in the inter on the interior he’s going to fight a little bit harder

The thing is he doesn’t offer much spacing but like PJ Tucker doing Russ like why is PJ Tucker I I’m sorry for anybody that’s been defending him in the comments he’s had some decent games recently but my point stands and since we’ve been playing him more we have not

Been winning have you noticed that after the game tyo was asked about our identity he said we have an identity we’re soft and apparently James Harden said that the team has got to find he got asked that because James Harden said the team has got to find our identity

And he is not you know it’s frustrating not to have found it this late in the season and he said it was the first time that it happened in his career one of the comments on my Twitter someone said in the last 15 games PG is a plus 52

Kawhai is plus 36 and Harden is minus 57 he’s been bad since the All-Star break he hasn’t been able to guard he’s not creating good shots frequently he has not been the same and it’s like it’s it’s like we’re getting set up for the annual playoff collapse Harden 11 points

On three for seven Terence man six points on two for five zubats had nine points and 11 rebounds let me show you what he had in the second half because in the first half I remember him having eight points and 10 boards at halftime in the second half Zoo played just eight

Minutes didn’t get a shot off one point so we went small Terrence Man by the way only played four minutes in the second half and I disagree with that I totally disagree with that even though he didn’t do much four minutes in the second half not with it Russell Westbrook only nine

And a half minutes in the second half I’m not with it it’s like we lean into these guys mainly our three stars that right now are just not giving us enough on both ends of the floor and I mean you could say that about everyone but doubling down on the

Old slow lineups it’s not it it’s not it and for tyo to say you know we’re soft sure we are I don’t know for all the people that going to blame tyo like I get it that lineup of T Tucker zoo and Russ was a bad idea why did Russ not

Come back in the game why didn’t he stay in the game I should say and Harden came back in probably a bad idea but I don’t think this caused us the game I don’t think we look good at all one thing we got to stop is the soft

Switching on and off the ball we switch everything and every team just picks which matchups they want against us we need to go a little more old school and start just showing and recovering and putting the putting our guys in rotation but I think there’s a real fear of

Putting James Harden in rotation defensively because his Closeouts are slow and he just doesn’t move the same way our other players do I think that’s a real hesitation because we can’t stop we can’t keep just switching him on to these guys I’m sorry it’s just because

He gets a couple of strips it’s not good enough anymore Norman pal he was trying he shouldn’t guard cakam we got to have Kawai I mean can kawh and Paul George really guard these elite players more frequently because teren man as I said he can’t be the best defender best point

Of attack gu on a championship team and whether whether or not you might be think thinking he’s not we have Russ we have kawhai they’re not guarding the point of attack a lot on good players so teren man’s doing it if he’s not good enough I don’t know what to tell

You let’s see what air coffee and Terrence man had in this game I already talked about Terren Amir coffee 27 minutes and he was one for three just didn’t contribute much Norm pal was good though 22 points on 8 for 13 shooting two for five from three on

Offense defense he wasn’t good but again we don’t expect too much from him I always said the two bad defenders in our rotation are hard and and Norm but everyone else has to be better and I think the problem is you know when you become dependent on playing Harden pick

And roll ball and leaning into it when Harden’s not generating great stuff in pick and roll where else is he contributing because that’s what his game comes down to is creating good shots doesn’t always have to be this is the copout everyone used to give me he

Doesn’t have to score a lot of points because he’s going to create good shots all the time I said it I I phrase myself very clearly before we got him I didn’t say when he’s not scoring he’s not effective I said when he’s not good offensively what’s he doing

And people would say like you say that about a lot of guys here’s the thing about Harden if he’s not getting what he wants in pick and roll off the ball he does not offer anything he doesn’t move doesn’t set screens really unless the

Coach tells him to and in a set play he does not work quickly off the catch and he second guesses a lot of his open shots I don’t know where we go from here should we have played the youth more early in the season we might have to
