Rebounds 13 assists that’s a lot it’s a lot of stuff Kyrie and Luca only combined for 48 points which is they haven’t done forever it feels like uh and they went 15 of 36 from the field in this one and then January 27th was the last time these two

Teams played the Mavs lost by five 115 to 120 this was again another another game before the trades Kyrie was out exm was out Derrick Jones Jr was out Grant Williams started in this game and played and scored 27 points in this in this game which was like wait Grant Williams

Was allowed to do that I don’t understand he was loud and he did it uh Fox scored 34 in this in this game sabona scored 17 and 11 rebounds Harrison Barnes had 20 points in that one as well so the Mavs are down 02 the reason why these games are so important

Is if the Mavs tie this with the kings that takes away that tiebreaker for him and the Mavs really need that tiebreaker then it comes down to I think who who’s winning their division I don’t think either of these teams are going to are they’re going to win their division and

Then it goes to division record like what your record is in the division and the Mavericks right now are n and five in their division with another uh two games against the Rockets left and the kings are 9- six in their division with they probably have one more game left

That I don’t know off top of my head but uh yeah why are these two games so important Reggie hey man get get to that tiebreaker situation get over top of that team get out of the T out of the playin right like look man we could talk

And we have we literally have spent months talking about this in fact I’m surprised that we’re not tired about it the West is a monster right there’s a lot of teams that are really good in the west don’t make don’t make yourself have to play more games against these other

Teams that are good then you have to put yourself in a situation where you know and you don’t you can get some guys some rest you can get yourself an opportunity you can give Jason kid and his staff more time to like look forward to a you

Know to a series and get ready for it like just don’t put more things up to chance than necessary and handling your business now put you in a much better position to do that like I I don’t know if I can I put that more simply is that

Is I think that’s as simply as I can put it wi win is good win is good okay that fair enough touche I mean right like that’s probably the more simple version of doing it but but yeah you got to stack wins and if you get these if you

Get I mean if they split them it’s it’s not the end of the world but it’s also doesn’t help you that much in it you want to you want to win both of these games they’re they’re so important they’re both in Sacramento too and so that that’s a tough place to play it’s

Uh yeah it’s just it’s they’re very tough gam so the keys to these games I think first one don’t let sabonis own the the paint and the boards this map team is completely different than the last time that they played this king’s team they’ve got D Daniel Gafford

Starting drik gelyy coming off the bench they’ve got you know Maxi playing some for they’ve got uh you know PJ Washington as well playing those smaller ball you know like minutes with maxi or playing the four all the time this team rebounds a lot better than they used to

They own the paint a lot more than they used to uh this season the the Mavs allowed 58 points in the paint in no when they lost to the Kings and 54 points in the paint when they lost in January so they’re very different uh and that’s still ridiculous when you

Remember that devont bonus like he’s a solid big he’s not like a big big right yeah so the fact he’s able to do that yeah he he controlled the he controlled the paint for sure in both of those matchups the kings in wins this season

Score 55.8 points a game in the paint in their wins against anybody in their losses 46.9 points so it’s a nine-point swing between how many points in the paint they score in wins and losses so if the Mavs can control the paint a little then they have a much better

Chance of of winning this game uh the Kings when they score under 45 points in the paint this is a number to watch throughout the these upcoming games when they score under 45 points in the paint they’re four and 15 when they score less no not which one

If you’re the Kings but it’s if it’s what you want if you’re the Mavs you got to keep them if you can keep them under 45 points in the paint that’d be massive it’s going to be a hard thing to do though for sure absolutely um and I

Don’t know if this is a moving on to another point but obviously if you can limit damont sabonis but then also hey there’s a pair of dudes and the paint also factors in when you start talking about dearen Fox that is a dude who is incredibly quick and when he gets

Downhill he is dangerous and hell when you talk about getting downhill what’s happening is getting to the paint and attacking your bigs and so if your bigs as your back stop are more Stout you’re giving him more difficulties you’re making it harder on him and that’s all

You can ask for when you’re playing against a star player in this league absolutely my next Point limit dearon Fox a little just a little like you’re not gonna be able to shut him down he’s he’s very good player but this season he’s averaged he averages 26.7 points a

Game but 32 points a game against Dallas it’s like it’s just completely D he’s getting like three more buckets a game basically against the Mavericks they just got to limit him a little bit more they they’ve got to work on that point of attack defense which has killed The

Mavericks All Season Derrik Jones Jr you know hopefully play and start in these games and that’s he has been a little bit better better point of attack Defender than the Mavericks have had this season and so I think he you know he’s got his work cut out for him

Basically against dear Fox uh in wins this season dearen Fox 28 points six assists in losses 26 points four assists just limit him a little bit limit a couple more buckets limit a couple more assists and you have a much better chance of of beating this Kings team if

You limit Daren Fox yeah especially with the amount of offense that you you can bring and even if it’s just Kyrie and Luca we’ve seen that they can carry the offens of load as long as your defense does the things of limiting the other team and sometimes completely shutting

Off the paint and it what’s nice is that it feels like you’re not having to do multiple things it feels like both of your both of your uh key adversaries here they seem to live and feast in the similar area so one area of the floor to

Focus on to really give yourself maximum defensive punch it feels like the last one is that other area of the court that the Kings do really well in contain the threes from the kings in wins this is probably the case for a lot of teams but I thought this number really stood out

In wins this season the Kings shoot 39.4% from three on about 40 attempts a game in losses they shoot 32% from three on about 40 attempts per game contain the threes just a little like make it so it’s not so easy the Mavs have struggled with allowing they’re going to select

One player and they’re going to let that guy take a bunch of Threes And the Mavs have gotten beaten by chimzi metu in the past making wide open shots against the Mavericks remember that game winner that he had last year uh you know it’ll pro this year it’ll probably be like a Keon

Ellis or somebody like that that’ll be you know a guy that’ll has played really well recently that Kings fans really like and you know well has stepped up lately but he’ll probably be the one that gets left open and he’s got to make some shots maybe sabonis will be left

Open and have to take some threes and so contain the threes a little and I think that’s something that the Mavs if they can do that if they can limit dearon Fox and if they can uh control the paint and not get destroyed in the paint basically

They have a much better chance of winning these two games and they’re vitally important dealing with other teams it’s like they typically I mean you you will find other teams getting one dude on the perimeter open because they’re trying to you know have that Center that defensive center

For the Mavs centrally located like it feels like you’re not going to have that opportunity right because that that Center will be locked up on some bonus right we’re not doing anything special here where you have you have this move around right I could see them do the PJ

Ononis thing they’ve done it with wanyama they’ve done it with joic they’ve done it with others well they’ll play I think they may try the PJ Washington guarding D sabonis and then have the Rover behind them the problem is you got to help off of a you know

Somebody a Keegan Murray a Harrison Barnes a Malik monk you know Kevin herder won’t play but uh you know a Keon Ellis or somebody like that and like they have to make a choice of who that Center technically guards right and that’s that’s where it feels like recipe

For failure is letting Harrison Barnes go uh you know he think he Kobe on you right like let letting let letting Keegan Murray go off in that way because your rotation isn’t pinpointed to be fair I want to be fair to the Mavericks the rotations have gotten

Significantly better but I don’t I don’t know that you want to like for yourself to test it right right I don’t I don’t think you want to force your stress test it so to say like I think that minimizing defensive rotation is probably the way better way to go in

This and I feel like let let your Center play up with Damonte sabonis I know he’s a skilled guy but it feels like your centers are played have played well enough to where I think they can handle it where you’re not doing the the the the four on their five and then having

Your five R I feel like you’re asking for a lot of defensive rotation that could especially in an opponent’s building where you’re not getting that energy from the crowd necessarily I think that could put you in a in a in a dangerous place
