  1. Part of why JB has a longer leash than most here want, he has the respect of that locker room

How many NBA coaches do you see ripping their team post game, most can’t get away with it but JB has grown with this team and earned their respect

He still needs to see post season success, but this is in part why the org likes him

I think the last coach we had that was comfortable criticizing players to the media was The Czar

After years of LBJ running coaches over and Beilein completely failing to translate his coaching style to the nba level (mostly due to mutual respect issues with the players), I think Dan Gilbert values the above more than we realize

  2. DG seemed like the worst offender. It seemed like he wasn’t even trying on defense. Body language for the whole team was pretty bad. It almost seemed like they were trying to get their coach fired lol. It’s a little late in the season for that.

It’s easy to point at individual players like DG and just say they’re trash and we need to trade them but if it’s about effort, you do have to look at the coach first. Is he losing the locker room?

I noticed during the Knicks series last year that JA’s body language was terrible. He could have been mad at himself for playing bad but I think he was not happy with the game plan because it seemed like it put him in bad situations too often. (This is pure speculation)

This team is hard to read. In my opinion, it seems like they almost over-emphasized acquiring likable/agreeable players and so when things go poorly, nobody speaks up. They all just act passive aggressive lol. Once again, this is pure speculation because I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes in the locker room.

He’s right. It’s on him as the coach to a degree but Vert lost his fuckin mind late and DG was absolutely soft.

I don’t like the Knicks’ ceiling or the Heat’s but they do not waste possessions and they press advantages until you prove you can stop them. We need to see mismatches and advantages and not think “oh, nice, let me get this dude for two possessions, fun rest time for me and I’ll show the bag a little” vs. “POKU??? Cavalanche machine go brrrrrrr let’s get a 20-4 run and 10-4-2 for big smiley!”
