Knicks HC Tom Thibodeau on Jokic being unlike any player ever and the challenge of the Nuggets

You know just working out that’s all well I mean they’re the defending Champion they’re playing great basketball uh one of the things about you know their team is they’re very consistent you know that no one’s going to play great in all 82 but when you watch and play they’re they play the

Same way on offense and defense it’s credit to Mike his staff and and all their players so um they’re strong on both sides of the ball M pardon MCB he could yeah julius’s only manys clock is running out do you feel that way you know like the thing is you

Can only control what you can control and for him it’s just work out each day you know he’s trying to strengthen the the shoulder area and just do that and so his focus is the rehab uh so some days have been better than others and but just keep working at it and you

Never know when it turns you know so that’s the way we have to approach it it’s a great question I think out the the entire league is trying to figure that out so but he’s you know it and when you look at you know the impact

He’s had year after year and and where they are uh you know they they play great basketball uh in a large part because of the way he plays you know uh and I think that internal leadership of just playing the right way you know if

You he’s going to hit you he’s going to screen he’s going to roll he’s going to shoot he’s going to post he’s he creates good shots for everybody uh defensively he’s he’s clever he’s he rebounds the ball extremely well uh he’s got great hands he’s disruptive he’s you going to

Swipe at the ball he’s going to sit on pocket passes he’s you know that’s a credit to him and uh in the way they play together I think that the team is is has been put together very well they they all complement each other they all play to their strengths and that’s why

They have the record that they do are there any comparables to geez I I don’t know it’s a it’s you know it’s Unique I think part of uh you know what he’s done has been a trend in the league in the sense that you know five out basketball and I think

Probably the way he he came up International his skill set like he can shoot he can pass uh he can dribble he can defend he can rebound uh he can move without the ball there’s so many things that he that he brings so I don’t know if there’s anyone

I think uh every player is different and I think that you really can’t get the the full picture until he’s done and to see the impact that he’s had here and they’ they’ve been a good team for a long time and then became a great team

You they’re a great team now and so that’s a credit to to everybody in the organization from ownership to front office obviously Michael’s done a terrific job his entire staff and then but when your best players like are like he and Jamal Murray uh and that says a

Lot and a guy like Eric uh Aaron Gordon comes in and uh Casey Pete that I mean it’s Michael Porter Jr this team is they have all the pieces coach Json knew I supp he was a gooder but are youed lately yeah yeah and I feel like I’m not

Surprised because I’ve known him for such a long time so I’ve watched him grow up I watched what he did in high school um and the way he dominated in high school and each year he got significantly better then he did the same thing in college and then I watched

Him from afar when he was in Dallas and each year he got better there and then with us the same thing holds true he you know he came in we we felt he would be really good for us and then he came back this year even better than he was last

Year uh and that’s the mark of a great player and the best thing about him is not only his ability to bring out the best in himself but to bring out the best in everyone around him and to me that’s what true leadership is quietly is had a really good

Roadm being option tonight probably not SRI guy but he’ll be in the paint what do you see from him yeah he’s moving a lot better so I think that that’s that’s a big plus uh the game in New York he didn’t play in so uh that’s this one is

Will be a good challenge for him uh to keep going and you know like sometimes you could defend you know yic perfectly and he still can make the play so but I like the resolve that Isaiah has like he he’ll keep coming he’ll keep working no matter what happens it’s next play next

Play next play and then um you know and obviously with great players you you can’t guard those guys individually you have to guard them with your team but you also can’t overcommit because he can beat you with the pass too so you you have to be able to do more than one

Thing give the appropriate help also read the ball move on the the Flight of the ball and then you got to challenge their shots they’re a terrific shooting team and Gordon’s great working on the Baseline so we got have to have awareness as to where he is um but it’s

It’s a lot for everybody y

  1. Class and respect. I think WHEN the Knicks are healthy they could take the east. The game was everything I had hoped for! I am a Nuggets fan in the west, and Knicks fan in the east.

  2. T's analysis of J is one of the best I've heard, mainly that he gives him his props as a "disruptor" on defense, so many haters' favorite line – 'yeah but he can't play D' is hogwash

  3. Jokic is a basketball savant, like Russell, Magic, Bird, MJ, LeBron, Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Stockton and a few others.

  4. I don't understand y tibs choose to put precious on the joker instead of Sims..Sims match up better with the joker..if u recall the last game which we blow them out..we use our size…and push them around…that small lineup can't work..

  5. Why do the journalists asking the question never have access to a mic? This is not rocket science. 😂Put a mic out on the floor and they can step to the mic when they ask a question. 🙂

  6. El Jokic is a great player but not all is what it seems.. what some people don't notice is when jokic hits the defender he still goes to the line for two free shots.. he's fooling the officials into making them think he's getting hit.. when guarding jokic it defeats the purpose of playing defense.. it's not really a foul it's actually a no-call.. it's a ghost call.. nonsense has to stop.

  7. “….the way he came up, international….” So not what we teach in high school and AAU, hogging the ball and running the clock down and then trying to make a basket with a low percentage shot.
