Jaylen Brown: Celtics CANT Settle in Crunch Time | Postgame Interview

Jaylen Brown: Celtics CANT Settle in Crunch Time | Postgame Interview

Can you take us through the go-ahead bucket and then the final defensive play uh nothing to really take um take us through um need need to stop know tough shot both ways two physical teams um that’s pretty much it how did that play Come Together for your shot at the end

Of overtime there it looked a little different from some of the you know last second plays you’ve run for a l this year yeah that that was you know just random to play broke down um we were in action but Atlanta kind of blew it up um

So I just made a play um towards the ball KP found me and then uh got off of a tough shot would went in what was supposed to play happen on that play originally supposed to be like a rip screen trying to see if we can get a

Layup towards the rim but Atlanta’s physicality you know kind of blew it up so we weren’t able to KP caught it way further than he would have lik um so I just ran and try to make a play on the ball J what you got learned over the

Past two games like what has this taught you this trip here I think I think it’s been good I think uh one give credit for Atlanta but it’s just like a playoff level of physicality I think they benefited from the whistle we would have liked to see some more consistency from

It but you know some days it’s going to be like that especially on the road in the playoffs you know I feel like I got fouled especially like going towards in the fourth quarter on the and uh before overtime that go ahead bucket they let

That go but you know you know some days it’s going to be consistent some days it’s not still got to find ways to win and uh and mchive level of physicality I think we did good for the most part outside of the the the glass like uh we

Had to get on the glass uh fight on the glass um I got to do a better job of getting there getting those rebounds um but give credit to Atlanta they they tough you know um and when you get a whistle that swings your way it makes

You even tougher so um definitely some good information that we can learn from Murray missed a ton of shots he also made a ton of shots but they got a ton of Second Chance points off those misses yeah Murray tough player you know um a lot of respect you know he play played

His ass off allowed his team to get the win um but I felt like we guarded him pretty well he made some tough ones um but we just got to give him the glass that was that was the key to the game offensive glass capella you know was a

Beast down there but um we got to be we got to up our level of physicality on the glass we didn’t do that and that’s why we that’s why we lost they’ve been trying to to relearn who they are with Trey out and it seems like this week especially they’ve really started to

Figure it out now you you actually might see them in the first round again so like how are they starting to transform and what kind of test are they bringing for you yeah I mean the season is a bunch of it’s a journey ups and downs um

So they’re trying to figure out their identity trying to figure out the way they want to play and stuff like that and um you know uh I guess that’s uh we’ll wait and see if we match up with them in the playoffs but U we’ll be ready like you said it’s The Learning

Experience having that top five back together and in those situations how important can that be can what be beneficial having those top five you guys there on the floor clutch situations experiencing that in the fourth quarter we got a bunch of Great Looks I think we had like at one point D

White missed a floater KP kind of missed a layup at the rim and then Drew missed a left hand layup all like back toback sequences was wide open looks um in the fourth quarter and I thought those was you know great looks they didn’t they

Just didn’t go down and that kind of led to them you know um feeling more comfortable more confident um but you know I feel like we execute it I think we just got to be more physical um and own our space a little more but it’s good it’s good information to learn from

Joe said a lot a lot of those onepoint games final minute just come down the shot making you guys are 4 and eight in those spots this year is there anything else you can point to in those spots that you guys didn’t improve on before the play play off those onepoint games final

Minute uh I think just you know like you said execution um not settling sometimes I think we um have settled um or whatever um and we can get to the basket and and things like that but you know I think uh I think we’ll be ready when

It’s when it’s time to come we just got to make sure that we execute we got our space in and then uh we’re not settling because you know we’re not leaving it into the officiating you know you get to your spot go up and down and live with those results

ATLANTA — In a closely contested game, the Atlanta Hawks edged out the Boston Celtics with a 123-122 victory on Thursday night. In the final moments of overtime, Jaylen Brown hit a go-ahead jumper to put Boston ahead 122-121 with just 6 seconds left on the clock. Reflecting on the Celtics’ crunch time offense, Jaylen Brown remarked, “I think we have settled or whatever [when] we can get to the basket and things like that. But I think we’ll be ready when it’s time.”

  1. Celtics fan here. I knew we gonna lose when tatum tries play hero ball.
last 3 years tatum in crunch time

    2021-22 season 37.2% Ranks 37th out of 47

    2022-23 season 35.1% Ranks 50th out of 57

    2023-24 season 31.9% Ranks 28 out of 29

this season: 5-21 fg (24%) game-tying or go-ahead fg in 4th quarter or OT

  2. if you listen to JT's, JB's, and Joe's descriptions of the final play, clearly at least one of them is lying, or none of them have any idea what the final play was supposed to be. seriously. watch their clips. each has a completely different story.

  3. Even if you guys ditched IT, You guys really missed his crunch time skills! Isaiah Thomas for 33333333333333! vs Jayson Tatum throws a briiiiiiiiiick!!!

  4. There post interview means nothing since it won't really apply in to the next game, they will always be chokers at the end of the Day! They always tell this interview and nothing changes at all! Hawks in 7 or Heat in 7 if these teams faces the Celtics! I guarantee!

  5. I'd so prefer JB have the ball at the back if we're going to do this hero nonsense. But letting the play go through White seems like a much better start – because, like this play, Brown is still out there, and he's very, very good when he's handed a grenade.

  6. Its just as much jaylen brown fault as JT 18 points 300mill he should of had 40 if JT had 31 and he should have guarded Murray and took the matchup and said he aint scoring no more i got him JB played horrible atleast JT had 31 aint no telling what it would look like if JT had 18 like JB just imagine if they both had 18 he got punked out there to F all that its not JB fault its everyones fault

  7. Joe never has play for his team in crunch time, give the ball to Tatum dribble out the time and shoots awful low% shot everytime . Blueprint beating Boston keep games close

  8. Celtics are chokers in crunch time, and btw JB is a dirty player, i will never support players who hurt other players intentionally just to win. Boston butt heads
