“The time has come for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to do some self-promotion.

It’s not the veteran shooting guard’s default setting, but he’s paid the price for not speaking up before. He’s not making the same mistake as he aims for his first All-Defensive team selection this season.

“I tried to get into the 3-Point Contest. They said I wasn’t promoting it enough,” Caldwell-Pope told the Denver Gazette after Sunday’s 130-101 win over Cleveland. “That’s what I’m trying to do now. I’m trying to promote myself. Gotta do it.”

The days of the 3-and-D specialist caring about All-Star weekend’s shootout appear to be over. Now, he wants the other end of his game to be appreciated. The 31-year-old believes his 11th NBA season has been his best as a defender, and he wants the honors to prove it.”
