[Windhorst] “Brunson, he doesn’t have the reputation of Harden or Trae Young, but he’s a foul hunter. He uses the dark arts… This is what the referees are cracking down on, the fouls that he gets sometimes are not what they’re going to give him.”

I mean most of the time he’s getting fouled, kinda crazy that they only focus on certain players to call fouls for.

  2. scorelesswilliamson

Why is he saying this while every knicks fans says Brunson is always fighting for his life getting no calls? Who is lying?

  3. YouStillTakeDamage

Even if this was true he still gets a much tougher whistle. Brunson is getting whacked to all hell.

  4. Numerous-Cicada3841

He’s 14th in the league in FTA per game with 6.1. Doesn’t seem that outrageous? He does foul bait, but he also drives a lot.

For reference, at the peak of Harden’s free throw baiting he was averaging 11.8 a game. Almost double that of Brunson.

  5. Nah, his whistle is much closer to Lebron’s than to SGA’s

  6. defeated_engineer

Refs aren’t cracking down on shit lmao.

    Hot air and Windy today.

Brunson is a dog. And if I were his size, I’d be hunting too. Hope he absolutely smashes in the playoffs.

No one is going to deny that JB foul baits (most star players/small guards do), those who know the game will exploit the rules whenever possible.

However, to A) call him a foul hunter when he’s not even in the Top 10 for FTs and B) ignore the fact that he’s a PG that feasts in the paint, yet consistently gets hammered down low with no calls is frustrating.

It’s crazy how many times I’ve seen Jalen give an interview with a black eye from the amount of contact he faces day in and day out.

This isn’t a new problem. This is something that’s persisted even before the refs started swallowing their whistles.

I legit don’t understand what he’s saying. It’s very side-ways out his mouth and all over the place. I turned off the clip more confused than the actual title, which obviously was a much longer discussion.

Just say what you wanna say and let the words fall out!

  10. eumanthis

18th in league in FTA per game, and Brunson is a FT hunter?

  11. Furiosa27

Bro just scored 61 with 6 FTs a few days ago but go off

  12. asapshrank

foul baiting is a part of the game and it’s not the players’ fault, it’s the league’s fault. if the rules didn’t allow for it it wouldn’t happen, plain and simple. would you not do something that easy if it meant your performance at work would improve and thus you’d make more money? of course you would. i never understood blaming the players for this

    >This is what the referees are cracking down on

    They are?

  14. This is bullshit. There’s a difference between foul hunted and getting absolutely hammered on every drive. JB does exaggerate his movements at times to sell marginal contact, but that doesn’t excuse getting absolutely mauled in other cases. Refs are trash. And it’s been a problem for a Knicks for a good long while, because Julius gets beat up as well and doesn’t get the calls he deserves. And he’s literally the last person to foul-hunt and sell contact. Refs have a problem and it’s magnified in Knicks games, period

  15. Much_Purchase_8737

James and Trae were such flop artists the nba literally made rules to counter their flopping. Brunson gets punished for being smaller and stronger than both of those guys.

  16. nickbriggles

At some point the refs need to be expected to improve at the same rate as the players, because at this point we may as well be using a jury of our peers to decide calls

  17. genericusernamepls

Lol not really, Brunson just has incredible body control in the paint he’s a beast down low

  18. Hot_Injury7719

“He doesn’t have the reputation of Harden or Trae Young” so he does the normal amount of foul hunting of smaller guards by being aggressive and getting banged around making contact driving to the basket?

  19. burnshimself

Embarrassing comment based on vibes with no stats. Embarrassing.

  20. Lmao this is such bullshit, go watch a Knick game Windy

  21. wearysimmons

The no call last night was absolute bullshit

  22. Healthy_Demand_1415

Brunson doesn’t settle for jumpshots late in the game when he’s tired. He’s a work horse and a savage. He goes in the paint and puts in like a man. Poor take from Windhorst.

  23. Windy is a known lebron meat rider and hater of 90% of the rest of the nba. Hes the one who said Zion may stay in college to not be drafted by the pelicans. Hes just full of shit. I haven’t listened to the full pod but if someone has and he mentions Brunson and not SGA in the foul baiter conversation then he’s just biased.

  24. DoomdUser

I have seen Brunson a fair amount this year, but I’m far from an expert, however…I strongly disagree with this. I can’t even recall a time when I saw Brunson do the stupid fucking “head snap” thing Trae and Harden both do basically every possession. Brunson draws fouls, but statistically he’s really not close to the heavy foul baiters, and Brunson draws fouls because his footwork is mesmerizing, and he mixes dudes up as well as anyone in the game. There is gamesmanship with all of these guys, but I don’t think Brunson’s play style warrants a call-out like this

  25. PetulantPorpoise

Honestly, Windhorst deserves more hate. I said it.
