Your season long 8 game 16-day home stand come to an end uh against Portland how how nice would it be to close that off with a win and and tie up that chapter I think it would be great finishing strong is is the most important piece for us right now with

This group especially in front of our home fans uh being able to get the job done the right way and playing up to our standard obviously there’s one more game left in this home stand but when you look back what do you think your team

Did well and and didn’t do well I think we defended the right way I think we played a high level of Defense I mean holding some of these teams you know to way below their averages uh I think the way in which we shared and move the

Basketball uh was done the right way now if shots fell or did not um I I think that’s something that we have to continue to look at but again the process over some of the results uh then being in these close games uh the great experience for our guys to recognize

What they’ll need to do as we continue to move forward you T talk talked a lot about kind of establishing a standard as you look at this you know seven games of Home SC how important was that to kind of reinforcing that standard as you ready for the final stret of the season

It’s so important that we continue to have evidence of what we’ve been able to do uh what we’ve seen different teams playing in different coverages uh different sets that we’ll have to uh to guard I think it’s so important that we can continue to see that you know for

The remainder of these games so we have you know constant sample sizes of what we’ll continue to need to do for our standard and the way in which we play and and in that in that respect too like home home you know you guys have done

Well to protect protect the home FL how important is that for building momentum how important win getting fight you know 5 home stand how important is that be for Building momentum through the through the road it’s huge I mean being able to take care home court is so such

A a big priority for us how would is it encouraging that your guys are still defending late in the year that you’re still thinking that stand absolutely I believe that you know that that carries over whether you’re at home or on the road the way in which you play defense

It comes down to the game plan which our coaches do a great job of the will and the want to defend and understanding the game plan knowing exactly what we’re supposed to be doing and that that goes home or or the road coach um you know first quarter

Starts how would you kind of evaluate how you guys have been performing in in that recently and what you guys are hoping to accomplish in there for I think it’s been up and down a little bit I think we’ve had moments where we coming out strong I think there’s been

Moments I mean you look at the uh the Golden State game you have 11 points uh but again I I think we’ve got to just continue to get better at coming out the right way no matter what’s happening uh whether we’re making or missing shots

And we go back to be question just about our defense and our standard that’s been sustaining us uh so I think we have to continue to do that but continue to trust our offense and allow our defense to spark our offense to be able to get easy baskets after stops FR struggled

With his three-point shot over over the last months what do you what are you saying to him or what do you see from him to help to kind help him turn it around how’s he still impacting games even even if that shot don’t just Rel he’s not just relied on his shot you

Know the thing he he brings so many other aspects to our game uh his playmaking ability his ability to finish at The Rim defensively he’s been fantastic uh the ability to guard multiple positions uh switching one through four at times I think just what he brings to the table is so so much

More than just his shot and then the other side of the shot I don’t worry about it he’s going to put the work in to get his shot where he needs to get it and the same concept we tell our guys with the work that you put in continue

To let it fly trust your shot trust your process tust the work you put in Portland’s obviously short-handed but you know it seems regardless who’s on the floor been very active defensively a lot of deflections and turnovers how important is ball security against a team like them tonight well their

Ability to turn you over is huge you know us being able to take care of the basketball is going to be big for us tonight us keeping them off the offensive glast and out of transition where they get those easy baskets going to be very important you know not

Knowing who they’re going to play at times is is part of it but it’s more about how we set the tone and set a standard for the way in which we play I see all those playoff Journeys starts just how excited are you for that group that’s so fantastic what coach Murphy’s

Done down there with that group uh the guys that have bounced in and bounced out come up with us gone over with them uh their ability to just continue to stay the course the entire year to play the brand of basketball that that fits that group I I really think they’ve just

Done a fantastic job and it’s so great that they get to start you know this playoff run coming up than thank you guys appreciate you really popped out to you I thought our defense was really good especially in the first half um cring turnovers and then getting easy

Points off of that and I think overall just our approach and communication was was at a pretty good level there another game tonight but when you look back on this eight game home stand what do you think worked well and what do you think didn’t

Um I thought we made some steps in the right direction I thought for the most part we play good basketball moved the ball really well um and play good defense obviously um three tough losses um and that’s stretch but um even in those games I thought you

S some can take some good game good things away from those games would to say that even in those three losses the defense played really well that you know when you look back at the T that give you a little bit of boost of confidence confidence that keep with those teams

And and that you’re still kind of moving in the right direction result definitely it also means that we got to improve offensively I think um but yeah it’s definitely cool to see that against really good teams really good offensive team uh at our principles work Paul said the

Other night that you know before the the win he said that he has to play better and he put words in you out that said you probably would feel the same way offensively how would you evaluate how you perform offensively as of way shooting um probably not shooting the

Ball as well um but just trying to make the right play um yeah just trying to make the right play every time be aggressive and uh definitely not my not like crazy great games but um for the most part I think I’m playing solid front uh you know Wendell Carter

Jr had nine rebounds in the first quarter the other night he was able to bounce back just how important his presence on the floor and how that would be going for extremely important we always talk about it that that that sets the tone um for the whole group and um

You know when he’s playing like that he’s he’s a big problem for the other team and um you know helps everybody else out a lot so um know we definitely need uh need him like that every game and um yeah really happy for him to play well this Portland teams you know

Short-handed they had guys in and out of the lineup but regardless of that you know what kind of stands out about them and what are some of the keys for your group tonight I think it’s it’s more about us tonight making sure that we have the right approach and and keep

Working on our stuff and um I think if we take care of um of those things that we have in in in the last couple games I think I think we’ll be in pretty good shape
