Woj: OG Anunoby, I’m told that the Knicks don’t want him in & out of the lineup. They want that injury, the inflammation, the irritation, to go away. That when they bring him back he can stay back. Look at the big picture of having him ready hopefully for the post season.

8 games left, I think the same is true for Mitch and Randle too. They’re coming back for the start of the playoffs or not at all.

I’ve mentioned this a few times, but I think [Bondy’s article](https://nypost.com/2024/03/15/sports/three-surgeons-weigh-in-on-og-anunobys-elbow-issues/) from a few weeks ago gives good context for the approach here. Every game doesn’t have to be an indictment on OG’s “toughness” (seeding concerns notwithstanding).

*”Pain and soreness in OG Anunoby’s right elbow isn’t surprising given the limited time after the operation, according to three surgeons who spoke to The Post.*

*And without rest, the issue is manageable but can also linger — a sentiment that seemed to be endorsed by the Knicks, who listed Anunoby as questionable for Saturday night’s game against the Kings because of ‘injury management.’*

*“I wouldn’t be fearful of letting him play from the standpoint that he would do some irreparable structural damage to his elbow. I would be more concerned that if he played and the elbow was inflamed, it would just not give it a chance for that inflammation to go away.”*

When OG came back the first time, he slotted in pretty seamlessly. I don’t think he’d need a lot of time to get back into rhythm.

  3. It’s the smart play, we gotta beat the top teams to be a top team so let’s make it happen!

I said this earlier why rush players back when we risk re injury. They deff learned from rushing OG back and dont want the same outcome again for either Randle or Mitch it makes sense and i aint mad about it. People who wanna compare this to embiid coming back are dumb. 76ers are rushing him back because their season is in jeapordy and even tho i dont want to see it happen but i say he gets re injured with swelling or inflamation. This is a smart move by our organization no need to abandon ship.

  5. Exactly what nearly everyone here thinks: They are preserving him for the playoffs

Breaking News: OG Anunoby will return from injury when he is no longer injured.

Question why is he still having inflammation if he had SURGERY to clean it up already.

Classic Thibs: put him in and leave him in. Pull out game weaker than Antonio cromartie

  9. I would hope they balance healing from the injury and shaking off rust. I think that they likely could target having them play in the last two games of the season just to shake off the rust and get in a bit of game action before the playoffs start it would also give them until April 12th to rest and heal. Also there is about 6-7 days off between the play in and the playoffs starting. So getting 10-12 more days off and getting in a couple of regular season games before the playoffs and getting more rest after.

  10. This is fine. Honestly just figure it out in the 1st round then.
