4 people at ESPN leave Luka off top 5 mvp ballot

Looks like the narrative has not changed. While I feel like this is insane maybe it’s for the best let’s forget about this MVP discussion on focus on getting ready for the playoffs and bringing home that championship! Then what are are the haters gonna say?

  1. I dont get how SGA is still above luka? Yes SGA is good, but shouldn’t be close.

  2. shai has barely been playing like a top 10 player post allstar break and he’s second. unreal

Oh good, those idiots are putting a chip on our boys shoulder at the perfect time.

Unfortunately the narrative won’t change until they have a deep playoff run this year and a top 3 seed next year.

I think we as a sub just need to take it as, it is what it is. Clearly something is up and there is some kind of prerogative around keeping Luka down. Winning solves everything and if we bring home that chip, the MVPs will follow because there will be no denying he is it. They’ll just have to accept it.

  5. Capable-Lab-364

Looks like he’s top 3 according to the images you posted …

SGA winning mvp would be disastrous for the league. Both in the same draft. Luka gets penalized for being better earlier – Mavs too good to build in draft. Meanwhile Shai, his first real good season…

  7. zTurboSnailz

This is great news. Motivated Luka is a sight to behold in playoffs.

  8. Think it’s safe to say Jokic is winning again. Hopefully next year we have better health and can get a higher seed.

  9. buffalobill41

Just idiotic at this point, when they were sitting in the 8-9 at around .500 whatever but now?

  10. RhinoBugs

SGA above Luka is a horrifying take this season. Unbelievable

  11. reddit_reader_25

Good! I hope they name them and show up to every playoff game so he can tell them off.

  12. ILikeTujtels

There is only one thing that we can say in Slovenia about this.
    Jebem vam mater!

  13. Puzzleheaded-Aide438

Luka should win but if it’s jokic are we really gon be mad?

  14. Simple_Wait_7286

Giannis only got 92 top 5 votes which is pretty awful too (he’s literally having his best statistical season).

Bottom-line, a lot of people at ESPN don’t now jack shit and are complete casuals.

  15. afedbeats

So much for voter fatigue lol. Unfortunately Luka seems to care the least of anyone whether he gets an individual award and would rather have a championship, which should be the defining trait of an MVP.

  16. Willing-March9324

It feels racist ngl. Even jokic seems to be a lot of peoples number 1 begrudgingly

  17. Anyone with less than 1% of total points should not be on the ballot

  18. Who tf gave JT two first place votes 💀💀💀

  19. Complexity777

Luka only getting 1 1st place vote is shameful. Their record is right up there with the Knicks after having an injured roster and his stats blow SGA out of the water.

    ESPN is a joke.

  20. Desperado-781

the fact that luka has Jason Kidd as a coach is worth like 5 1st place votes

  21. whitefang0824

    1. Stephen A. Smith

    2. Stephen Smith

    3. S.A. Smith

    4. S.A.S

people surprised by this either live in an alternative universe or are too young/naive or something. Even Luka’s biggest fans in the media(jj reddick) don’t even DARE to say that Luka is the MVP. That how impossible this case was.

  23. I’m not a fan of any of these players teams but I am a fan of Basketball. Luka deserves MVP. Leading the league in Scoring and carrying this team to a top 4 playoff seed. What more does he have to do? SGA is in a much better situation and Jokic is Jokic, dude doesn’t even care about this award.

  24. Tim Legler probably was that lone 1st MVP vote.

  25. Calliesdad20

In no world is sag a better player or had a better year than Luka. The voters who left him off are a joke

  26. Doesn’t matter. Jokics been a lock since week 5

  27. The biggest issue is the **inconsistency** of their logic/reasoning.

“We don’t want to vote for Luka because we’d be forced to keep on voting for him in the next several seasons” – then how come you’re voting for Jokic again (including voting for him despite a low seeding for DEN in 2022)?

“OKC are better in the standings than DAL” – how would the standings matter that much if the best player in the best team in the whole league is 5th?

“DAL is too low of a seed in their conference” – yet the 2nd seed for the Bucks isn’t enough for Giannis to overtake Luka anyway?

“SGA’s overall numbers are unprecedented for him” – so what you’re saying is that Luka’s unprecedented numbers this season actually aren’t?

  28. TheBookie_55

These peeps really don’t WATCH the Mav’s obviously.

  29. frankwalkerstiles

I don’t know much about MVP voting. But do fans get a vote? (Don’t know how they would calculate it though) Or is that reserved for the All Star ballot only? Not that it makes a difference if the majority is voting elsewhere.
