Here as always joined by my co-host Luke Sylvia who uh Luke we are now on a three-game win streak and I’m much happier to be talking to you after this win over the Pelicans tonight then I would have if we were talking after directly after the Blazers Wi on Monday

We’re going to talk about both of those but yeah this was a pretty chippy game Wednesday night I’m excited to break it down with you yeah and and to your point timing is everything so yes I’m also glad that we get to break this one down

And not the Blazers one uh maybe as much as we would if it was the most recent one the other couple things real quick I wanted to hit on the top the magic are now over 500 in every Jersey so at one point Association whites the association whites were kind

Of the one that everybody rolled their eyes when we were wearing them but now with the win over the Pelicans you guys can feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but I am pretty positive that now you’re over 500 in every Jersey which is is great and also a weird weird night

Around the association I’m not mad just everything the magic needed to happen happened and we had teams out here losing to some of the worst teams in the league the Grizzlies the Nets beat the Pacers yeah Phoenix is up 25 on Cleveland at the half we’ll see what happens with that

But I mean 25 at the half is never good you’re probably losing that game yeah so we’ll have to sort of chill and and see what happens there but I listen you can’t bury the lead the magic now have won 45 games and they’re they’re just I

Was looking at the the standings here they’re only a game under 500 on the road this year yeah which that record that record was not great even just a few weeks ago on the road now where they are still lacking is they’re 18 and 25 against teams above

500 and now here’s the thing with that though the thing with that is that there’s only a few teams in the East that are above 500 against the teams that are above 500 so while yes it looks bad record-wise you also still have to take into account that majority of the

East is below 500 against essentially good teams above 500 teams so I you know it not too worried about that but I mean we’ll we’ll see see if it we’ll see how it continues once the magic playing above 500 team in the playoffs I guess yeah really quick folks next episode of

The six fan show will not be filmed until April 14th that is Fan Appreciation Night that’s the Magic’s last home game of the season versus the Milwaukee Bucks so if you plan on being at that game which you should be it’s Fan Appreciation Night it’s the last

Home game of the regular season at least the magic have all I believe with the win tonight they have guaranteed that they will at least host the 78 game like if they fall into the 78 game I believe they would host it at this point if not

They’re very very close I think maybe one more win might do that for the magic so it looks like we’re almost guaranteed to have home postseason basketball in Orlando and yeah the magic uh you know they should finish top six by all accounts they should finish top six should guarantee themselves a series

Which again going back to the beginning of the Season all of us would have taken that so if you’re going to be in the building April 14th after the game find Ben right outside Kia on Church Street there filming the next episode of the six fan

Show and Luke I think it was last night on TNT it would have been a Tuesday most likely Shaquille O’Neal said that uh in a a four five match up between the Knicks and the magic he would he would pick the magic to sweep the Nicks and then he immediately started singing the

Orlando Magic theme song which leads me to believe that that he doesn’t totally believe that but it was fun to hear him say that but I don’t appreciate the fact that he’s giving the Knicks a bulletin board material and it lowkey feels like he’s trying to jinx us because we all

Know Shaq is like a low-key hater yeah he uh he wants it to all be about him when you talk about the Orlando Magic I don’t think that he likes doesn’t he though he loves it he loves it only when he is the center of the conversation about when it comes to

The magic so yeah I listen no nobody in their right mind thinks the magic are going to just outright sweep the New York Knicks it’s all for for TV and maybe the excuse to sing the song Because let’s be honest we all like an excuse to sing the

Song so I you know it’s funny it’s good TV rils up the Knicks fans a little bit but I don’t think we we believe that at all if it did though you would have two less friends for certain yeah you’d be making Craigslist ads looking for new

Friends it would just be me in the group chat for sure be me talking to myself and they will have blocked me a long time ago okay let’s go to the state of the magic here this week the magic are 2 and 0 to start the week with wins over Portland

And New Orleans Luke you said three in one on the last episode do you want to change that now we’ve got Charlotte and Chicago coming up here does it feel like a 4-0 week yet or do we are we are we going to drop one of those just getting

There I might be wait I don’t I don’t know you know I would like to say logic would say the magic of 4 and0 this week you know what that would mean you lose both of them no if they go 4 and0 do you know what that means game you’re making

A trip to Walmart and picking up some Fruit of the Loom uh white t-shirts to to rip off yeah the magic uh currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 45 and 31 crazy to say that out loud they are 15 games back of

First place Boston just two games back of Milwaukee they’re one game back of Cleveland if that result that we talked about a moment ago with the Suns they’re up 25 right now on the Cavs at half if that result holds the magic will be a

Half game back and will be one game back in the win column of the two seed now the way that that tiebreaker between the Cavs and the magic would work but the magic I believe have to win their division to have the tiebreaker over the Cavs if the magic don’t win their

Division then I mean they most likely won’t be tied with the cast but they would not hold a tiebreaker in that scenario there so we want the magic to finish higher than the heat wi their division if they finish tied with the Cavaliers then the magic would win that

Tiebreaker due to being a division winner I also want to add here my my buddy that we were just alluding to Danny Nick’s fan he was like hey Luke do you know what the tiebreaker would be if the Cavs magic and Knicks all finish for the same record because

Everything’s going against each other right um but what I told him was and what I looked and found is that it looks like if there is a three-way tie that it is just straight the first tiebreaker is just best in division in their division so and that goes for against

The Knicks and the Cavs as well so in that case you’d be looking at the magic the tiebreaker if there was a three-way tie over all of them sorry losers hope uh hope hope it doesn’t come to that for your sake yeah but that would be pretty nice yeah and obviously

That being said because the Knicks are in a division with the Boston Celtics so that’s that’s the kicker there they’re definitely not winning a division at all the Magik are now one game up on the New York Nicks two and a half games up on Miami and Indiana four games up on

Philadelphia who just recently got Joel embiid back on the season the magic are 23rd in the NBA in offensive rating with an offensive rating of 11 12.9 they are second in the NBA in defensive rating with a defensive rating of 110.5 they are 11th in net rating with a net rating

Of 2.5 post allar Break The Magik are 19th in the NBA and offensive rating first in defensive rating fourth in net rating looking at the injury report just Caleb Houston uh he missed Wednesday’s game versus the Pelicans with the right ankle sprain seems like they’re just

Sort of trying to manage that trying to get Caleb healthy but everybody else played tonight uh well everybody was healthy enough to play theight I should say still no you know Anthony black Goa batad you know Keon Harris and Admiral scoffield as jet Harris I believe again

Is with the Oola magic who are uh getting ready to start um their playoff run I believe fry so if you’re in the area uh you know if you’re near you know I think it’s uh Heritage Park I believe if you’re in the area you’re free Friday

Night to go to that game the magic finished first or the Oola magic finished first in the Eastern Conference in the G league and yeah they’re primed to make another Deep Run there so go out and support the osola magic if you’re in the area Luke I want to go back to Monday

Night the win over the Portland Trailblazers which after that game if anybody you know watches like the little post game videos that I put out really after every game I was as unhappy about a LW or was unhappy about a win I almost said loss because it truly felt like a

Loss I was unhappy after that win as I can ever remember at at the magic winning a game and what that comes down to is just like we’ve been talking about this standard the team has been talking about this standard all year long and the magic didn’t really come close to

Playing to that standard Monday night now they had a 15-point lead in the third quarter and the team even had a ninepoint lead with three minutes 4 seconds to go on a France Vagner free throw an and one put them up again nine with 304 to go and then the Blazers hit

Two straight threes to cut the lead to four with 119 to go Jaylen sugs makes a couple of free throws scoot Henderson hits a layup to make it a three-point game with 107 to go DeAndre Aton makes a layup with 37 seconds left to go to make

It a one-point game Pao misses a three a wide open three from the left corner with 16 seconds left Blazers get the ball back and DeAndre Aton misses a wide open 12- foot Baseline jumper which he had been making seemingly the entire night which would have given the

Trailblazers the lead and it it felt like the magic deserved to lose this game the way that they gave their lead up that they had in the third quarter and then the way they had the nine-point lead with three minutes to go and just watch that vanish over the last couple

Of minutes there and weren’t able to to get a basket at the end to sort of ice this one had had the magic lost this game it probably would have been the Lo the worst loss of the Season just given the opponent given the fact that they

Had lost by 60 to Miami a few nights ago and due to the fact that you had a double digit lead at home over a really really bad opponent when you’ve been sliding fting recently in the standings and you need to get wins to create some space

There magic were lucky just flat out lucky to come out with a win in this one we would probably spend a lot more time harping on this and harping about some of the issues from this game Luke had this been the most recent game or had

This been a game that the magic lost this time of year you just have to be happy that you get away with a W and Jamal Mosley to his credit which I can’t I don’t ever remember him doing this in his time is the head coach very Steve

Clifford esque just coming out before any questions were asked just sort of gave an opening statement and really like lit like lit into this team in a way that I haven’t seen him do before just talking about hey hey we talk about a standard we did not play to our

Standard tonight he’s been very very careful with criticizing his team at least publicly in his time here but it seems like what we’ve been talking about like hey like it’s time to stop worrying about feelings it’s time to worry about winning games and him sort of ripping

Them publicly for not playing to the magic standard I was all for that and when we go to talk about this game from tonight this Pelicans game it seems like they took that to heart and responded really well tonight thankfully because that game against the

Blazers like you said it it felt like a loss and the only reason that you’re able to walk away from that with any bit of positivity is knowing that it actually went down in the wind column where every game is pivotal but the the place that the magic really disappointed me in this

One was in the paint you’re you’re playing against a Portland team who is one of the worst teams in the league at protecting the paint and this is supposed to be where you thrive because you can’t shoot threes very well this is this is where you’re supposed to capitalize against these teams that

Struggle mightily they give up 54 points in the pain a game and the magic come out and they only score 44 whatever A team’s average points in the paint allowed is the magic should be at least four or five points over that every game because they’re above average

At getting in the paint and scoring from there and you couple that with playing a team that’s just terrible at doing it at protecting it you have to capitalize that that’s one area of this game that that frustrated me a lot but you also had 16 turnovers that’s inexcusable against a

Team that you you favored by 17 a half points in this one and you’re just careless with the ball all game continuously throwing it away and ultimately it helps lead to the fact that Portland shot 90 times and you shot 76 a 14 field goal discrepancy you should

Lose any game that there’s a 14 field goal attempt discrepancy you don’t even Eclipse 80 shots they get 90 and those were the two like most glaring things but overall man I mean you Palo has to play 36 minutes in this one this is should be a night where pao’s able to

Get the KN off early much like what we saw against Memphis in Orlando just a couple nights prior Gary Harris plays 35 I it’s stunk because our starters were were good enough and they were able to hold their own but the bench was just terrible the bench was awful collectively they were awful

So uh it’s at this point point in the year two you already know what your shortcomings are which is why we do say things like oh just get the win but these games make it so much harder to just think about oh we got the win because because this team looked legitimately

Atrocious at multiple Parts in this game against a Blazers team who is they’re done their season’s over you should be able to blow the doors off these guys but you let Delano Banton come in there and 26 points she shoots eight threes makes half of

Them aon’s going to do what Aon does he he’s going to be able to do that and dude I really did think that that field goal mid-range field goal attemp was going in by the way I think we all did lucked out there so shout out to the

Andreon for missing that one for us but there were so many pain points in this game that it it didn’t even feel real yeah 23 Second Chance points uh I don’t know if we had really mentioned the the offensive rebounds but the magic give up 11 offensive rebounds to

Portland again which leads to 23 Second Chance points you talked about the 15 turnovers which led to 19 points off turnovers for the the Trailblazers and that that was really the difference in the game like the offensive rebounds and the turnovers which led to those extra possessions and those extra field goal attempts

From the Blazers I guess the uh the jayen sug sort of scoot Henderson play at the end where which sort of led to the ball like squirting out to DeAndre Aon was ruled like an incorrect no call by the last two-minute report but like how many

Times have we seen those sort of go both ways this year play at the end of the game guys are trying to be physical both are physical guards and and Scoot Henderson and Jaylen Suggs and yeah for the most part the starters played well in this game but they were also the ones

That gave up a nine-point lead with three minutes to go which is just totally inexcusable like I don’t know how much we’ve talked about my rule on the show here but basically if your team is up by more than 10 with less than five minutes to go 99 times out of 100

Times you win that game and if you’re up nine with three minutes to go like the statistical probability of you winning that game is probably even higher so the fact that again we just came like that DeAndre Aon wideopen mid-range jumper from going in losing this game was

Really disheartening like you hear this team talk again and again and again about how they want to be in this position and how they know what they have to do and they know their identity and nights where it’s just like yeah we just really forgot what our identity is

Like we didn’t take this team seriously and it almost cost them but to hear Jamal Mosley again after the game talking about the standard and Jaylen Suggs talking about how like Jamal Mosley came in after the game and and basically like you know leaned into them

About the way that they played it’s good to hear that and you it was like okay well how are you guys going to respond now and that’s really most important we’ll go ahead and we’ll talk about the the Pelicans game from Wednesday night and just a moment here before we do that

The New Orleans pelic really not a a great start for the magic they shoot 35% from the floor in the first quarter 42% from behind the arc uh luckily they make seven out of 10 of their free throws as poorly as they played in the first quarter they found

Themselves down just two and like collectively magic fans were like how are we only down two as badly as we’ve played in this first quarter it felt like you probably should have been down you know 10 or or maybe even 12 points magic have a much better second quarter

Outscoring the Pelicans 34 to 29 to take the 58 to 55 lead into the half you’re up three you’re feeling pretty good and you didn’t have a great start to the game second quarter went really well uh the bench unit as they have been doing all year long played really really well

Especially in that second quarter to help get that lead back no Brandon Ingram in this game no Jose Alvarado either for the Pelicans Brandon Ingram still uh you know recovering from the the bone contusion or the bone bruise that he suffered when the magic played the Pelicans in Orlando

A few weeks ago so coming into this game it was like okay after that Trailblazers game the way that you played you have a huge opportunity in front of you on the road A Team Missing arguably its best player definitely one of their two best players and it’s time to bounce back

Right let’s go into New Orleans let’s get a win Palo banero pretty rough start in this game is one of eight from the floor in the first quarter four of six in the second quarter finished the first half with 18 points3 rebounds three assists five of 14 but seven of nine

From the free throw line didn’t really have it going but was doing a good job of staying aggressive putting pressure on the Pelicans defense and getting to the rim now the third quarter much like a few weeks ago in Orlando is when the magic really started to to blow this

This game open they were up what did I say they were up five or they’re up three headed into the half and they outscored the Pelicans by 12 in that third took a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter this was a chippy game like from the first couple of minutes in

The first half like herb Jones just fullon shoves Jaylen Suggs out of bounds and early in the second half Jaylen is trying to run through a screen set by Larry Nance and Larry Nance just again just fully extends both arms and shoves Jaylen Suggs now he’s called for the

Offensive foul with a few minutes left in this game jayen Suggs is is running down the lane I think he got the ball from Palo banero he’s driving to the rim and he gets stuck in between I think it was herb Jones and CJ McCullum CJ McCullum comes over Luke and literally

Doesn’t make a play on the ball just drops his shoulder and drives it right into Jaylen Sugg’s ribs Jaylen never even secured the pass as he was running down the lane he was sort of bobbling somehow the referees called a travel on Jaylen Suggs and then did not call a

Foul on CJ McCullum who after he levels that’s not an exaggeration after he levels jayen Suggs puts his hand up and anticipation of the foul call at the very minimum that should have been a technical foul you probably could have called that a live ball foul that probably could have been a

Flagrant a lot of chippiness in this game Pelicans were almost like head hunting Jaylen Suggs it seemed like and the magic keep the lead throughout the fourth quarter wasn’t ever really close in the fourth quarter Pelicans made a little bit of a run at the end but then

The last couple of minutes like three different players for the Pelicans I think it was herb Jones maybe Trey Murphy and Dyson Daniels like three of their guys get ejected with like eight seconds left just going at the refs when it’s like you guys are the ones that the

Entire game have been taking cheap shots shots at the magic specifically jayen Suggs know there was some some uh confusion uh to start the the second half with Gary Harris sort of like trying to make a play on the ball but slips and it looks like he’s diving at

Zion Williams’s legs and he falls over and they sort of seem to get over that but the CJ McCullen play to me Luke it felt like retaliation for for that play on Zion Williamson is what it felt like to me but to see pelicans fans like complaining about the officiating in

This game was laughable great response for the magic like to come into this game hostile environment is what it turned into on the road after that game against the the Trailblazers from a couple of nights ago where they didn’t play to their standard didn’t have a great start to this game

But found themselves as the game went on and just gutted out a tough gutsy win on the road in a very physical game that this was Wednesday night I mean the game was physical enough that the refs had to start blowing their whistle way more and I talked about on the last

Episode but you’ve seen the decline in free throw attempts per game for teams because the NBA has put the the notice out hey time to start gearing up for playoff basketball where we let it be a lot more physical but the magic and the Pelicans apparently took it too physical for

Their liking because the magic shoot 30 free throws to the Pelicans 28 and for content text the uh the league leader in free throws attempted per game is the Milwaukee Bucks and the Orlando Magic at 24 A2 so and we’ve seen it you know at this point they’re you’re lucky to be

Shooting 20 free throws in a game right now so for the magic to get to the line that many times and the Pelicans as well shows you that this game got physical enough that the refs were like okay we have to take this game back and not let

It get out of control and they were blowing the whistle a lot more tonight but yeah the after the first quarter Paulo banero shooting you know one for eight first half he shoots five of 14 from the field and even though the magic scored 34 in that second

Quarter I I just desperately wanted to see someone get it going in the second half and and thankfully for the magic sake there in that second half you have your two guys step up they answer the best right France Vagner six of n from the field two of four from three how about

That from France Vagner 19 points in the second in the second half poo benero five of 10 from the field 14 points three rebounds so those guys like I said they they were there to answer the Bell there and I I was just super proud of the way that

This team fought given the away record and given the way that we’ve seen them struggle as of late when it comes to these you know playoff caliber teams this wasn’t going to be an easy game it never was going to be because the Pelicans are fighting for their lives to

Stay in the sick spot I had a my buddy who’s a Kings fan text me before the game and was like please win tonight I said I’ll do the best I can you know I can only do so much but now the Kings find themselves only a half game behind

The New Orleans Pelicans they’re trying to obviously get into that SI spot and the Pelicans are trying to just hold on to it this is a desperate Pelicans team despite the injuries and don’t let anybody tell you differently this team this Pelicans team is talented even with

The guys they had out favored in this one against the Orlando Magic who were completely healthy lot on the line for this one tonight and thankfully the magic found themselves on the right side of the results you get the win and then all of the teams around you that could have

Possibly played tonight all took losses and potentially what was it the Cavs is the game that we’re watching right now against Phoenix they’re down 21 headed into the fourth that game was as close as 13 points at one point in the third quarter I was starting to sweat a little

Bit but uh you I would really hope that the Suns aren’t going to blow a 21o lead at home in the fourth quarter but we’ll see yeah so we will see and then what at that point you’re a half game back you’re a half game back of the three

Spot yeah can we can we do this like obviously we this this is a great Pelicans game it was a great win it was a gutsy win but like can I just check in with you like with my friend Luke like bro like we’re it is it is April 4th

Yeah there are what what is it six games left six and we’re sitting a half game back of the three seed baring disaster barring disaster correct yes even even With Disaster we’re one game back of the three seed yeah I think it would be a game and a half if they pull

Out the win yeah uh this is it’s a it’s it’s ridiculous if I’m being honest it’s crazy that we are in this situation at all and Kevin Being Greedy for wanting the the upper seed May finally be paying off is what I will say I don’t I don’t know that the magic

Will surpass and will will will become the three seed in the next few games but what I will say if the Suns and it this stinks because the listeners know what happened but so this all could be for nothing but regardless like you said a game behind

At worst so this all still stands the magic have a pretty favorable upcoming three- game stretch at the least while the Cavs have the Lakers and the Clippers next the Suns currently have a 99.5% win probability per espa there’s no way they don’t close that out right

But but to my to to my point the Cavs have the Lakers the Clippers then they have an easy game Grizzlies but then they have the Pacers and then they get the Hornets to finish the year so they’ve got three tough games remaining that are not no brainer wins in the slightest so

It’s really they could definitely go two and three three down the stretch here while the magic have the Hornets the Bulls and then you have a a game against the Rockets as well and then you’ve got the buck Sixers bucks which is that last final stretch we’ve talked about so

Much but we I think I mean if the Caps keep slipping the magic keep winning those games against the Bucks are going to be interesting too oh my gosh like you could go into the last three games of the Season back like a game or two of Milwaukee and both of

Those games having legitimate playoff implications like not like oh if we beat them then we’ll be four and they’ll be three or whatever like no if we beat them both of those games like we we could go into the very last game of the season we could go into April

14th Fan Appreciation Night the Magic’s last home game of the season Milwaukee’s last game of the season we could go into that game with the two seed on the line that is absolutely possible right now and it’s not just the fact that you’ve got the that two- seat on the line it’s

The fact that you’ve also you’re fighting for the the tiebreaker and to this point the Bucks and the magic have split you’ve got two more games Jonathan if you can split and all those implications are on the line it’s going to come down to more than just the division tiebreaker cuz Milwaukee right
