Be pretty for the Spurs that just shut Victor down so I don’t think they’re just gonna you know come out and shut him down for no reason it would be you know in in the Denver game he took a hard fall on his hip he was wincing a

Little bit he’s he’s getting these little uh you know Nicks and bruises and small injuries like that throughout all of these games where any one of them at this point of the Season they’ve added up they could say yep he’s got a a hip thing a knee thing an ankle thing it’s

Not serious but we don’t want to take any risks and I don’t think anybody would be uh that upset about it uh except for people who uh got tickets to the games because they want to see Victor and uh I’m gonna say Victor um because you know you look at it and it’s

Like okay reasons to to shut him down right um it doesn’t matter what happens like in the last two weeks of the Season Chad hren could turn into you know Will Chamberlain reincarnated it’s wy’s Rookie of the Year exactly it’s over um Spurs aren’t going to win anything

Meaningful and them losing can help them secure another top three draft lottery odds which will help this team moving forward in the long run makes sense um and Vic kind of looks a little bit gassed like this is as Gass as I’ve seen him look this is the most this is the

Most highlevel basketball he’s played for the longest he’s played it um and you know he’s he’s definitely slowed down a little bit from His Brilliant peak in January February um he’s he’s not moving around quite as well he’s not you know it and and still he’s putting up almost quadruple doubles right

Um that’s that’s the thing where this first game without Devon Vell without Jeremy soan without Kellin Johnson uh they’re playing against the defending Champion Denver Nuggets and making them sweat in their own building and it was almost entirely because uh Victor wanyama is another worldly talent and

And he’s got that mindset too where he wants to go out he wants to perform he wants to compete uh he wants to entertain people he’s a showman like he he is one of those people there’s that ever clear song you know you try to be everything to everyone he is in a

Position where like not in a cocky way but he knows that he can be everything to everyone and so he’s trying um I think it’s going to come down to a balance I’m I don’t think he’s gonna play every one of these last few games he’ll probably miss a few but I

Mean you look at the schedule Sixers and beid is back that’s a big matchup that’s something that he’s going to want to you know take personally joic I don’t know if he’s gonna play in that last game right um Thunder you know that’s personal yeah

We know that one yep you you know that’s personal even though like the Rivalry with him and Chad I know people are going to say oh it’s it’s all a lot of it is media hype a lot of it is cont and I I don’t think it’s like a personal

Like beef between I I don’t think they dislike each other as human beings it’s just a a very simple people think he’s better than me and I don’t and I want to every time I go out there I want to show it but especially when I’m playing against that

Guy um so I I think that just that that get him is Victor’s going to be like no I I want to play these games and he’s going to play uh at least a couple down the stretch here um but you know then you look at the summer in in addition to

Being the main draw at the gate for the Spurs in these last few games of the Season he’s going to be like the most globally recognizable yeah athlete for the country that is hosting the Olympics this year exactly in his hometown like that’s going to be and and

That’s something that’s going to happen exactly once in his career a home Olympics you know he he could play for 25 years yeah and probably not going to be another one of those um and you can bet that when he puts on his country’s colors he’s going to be just

As motivated just as just as uh wanting to prove himself and and lift his team up when he’s doing that maybe even more so than when you’re wearing the silver and black so um whatever happens there there’s going to be a lot of the Spurs working with Team

France but uh this has been Victor’s most uh physically demanding career of his year and it’s not going to slow down too much yeah yeah he he he’s had a wild R even entering the NBA recall before the draft night he was still playing with the Mets 0 93 I for I

Think that’s what it was2 yeah2 thank you leading up to the draft day and then turned around and then you know we know what that happened there from the summer league and then until now and what happened with that too kind of informs his decision-making his thought

Process right yeah because he was in a situation where all right you’re the clear number one pick you know all that you can do when you go out there is get hurt like but but his team was in the playoffs and the finals if I remember

Correctly you know he he wanted it of course he wanted because he’s a competitive guy and that like obviously we talk about the skill set at his size so much at nauseum but I mean you spent time around him I’ve spent time around him every single time

He talks it’s a bar and he seems to genuinely be one of those people who uh is built different like it gets overused yeah got that dog in him but like really though he is uh a different breed of competitor and that is the thing that is

Going to take him from being a talented spectacle of a basketball player to potentially one of the great ones ever you talked about him being tired uh after the game versus Denver now it was a competitive game but he openly admitted saying that he goes I’m tired

Right now during his post game chat uh but as far as sitting him or I’m sorry shutting him down for the rest of the season I mean yeah it’s it’s I mean there spur come out and say like well we’re gonna shut him down okay like you

Men I get it that makes sense you know Rookie of the Year a lock he has a big long summer ahead of him these games are meaningless for the short term and why not give more minutes to some guys that could use it like a Don Barlo for

Example you know give some minutes to that so so there’s pros and cons of that Pros letting him play yeah as you mentioned he’s a competitor he wants to go against some of the best that they still have on the schedule but man that injury bug is creeping up in the Spurs

At at a weird time you it’s not only Vel and soan you had Kellin Johnson who got hurt then got sick according to papovich and then what happens to Osman during the game for Denver you know Falls awkwardly or lands awkwardly ankle out you mentioned wimy falls on his hip look

If the Spurs need an excuse to set him out for a couple games there it was right there I mean he did bounce back but I think the Spurs are probably going to meet him in the middle maybe you don’t see him play against the New Orleans Detroit to finish out the season

I don’t know uh but you know we talked to uh Dr Ryan mccorkel he comes on a lot on lockdown SP throughout the season and I asked him about like well you know what about shutting him down he’s kind of like you he’s like you know does it really matter you know you

Know if he’s gonna play anyway yeah he’s gonna get out there anyway he’s gonna be exercising he’s gonna be exercising yeah yeah even if even if he just treats these last five games as light cardio yeah it’s still like all it is yeah just just hope and pray that nobody falls on

Him awkwardly that he doesn’t fall awkwardly yeah uh and you know but but that’s the thing is like if if you got a if you got a a really cool car you could just keep it in the garage and preserve as much value as possible but car’s meant to be driven

Man yeah you know and and he he feels that inside him he’s he’s got to go do his thing but I I imagine after this season ends he’s gonna get in an ice bath and maybe not get out for like two weeks he he may do what he said uh

Heading into the new season this season where he said I’m shutting it down for a while and I’m be talking to anybody so I I would I would I mean think about this too Tomy he still has you know yes we know the Olympics are right around the

Corner but there’s still pre-season or exit friendlies as they call them uh that Team France will go through there’s training camp for Team France then there’s a tournament itself so he has a long long summer ahead of him uh personally I would like to see the Spurs

Shut him down at this point you know I think I think okay enough’s enough you know you’re already proven yep you’re the hype you’re living up to it good things ahead for you in your NBA career so that’s where I’m at right now and also to if the short term is to evaluate

Talent they have the roster Le next season then you got to do that so let other people play my my one thing with that is like Barlo ABS absolutely deserves a little bit more run um but I think in terms of evaluating the roster one of the most important things you can

Evaluate at this juncture is combat compatibility with Victor wanyama right uh and you know I I think we know that pop loves sandrew Mamu Kili right loves watching him play loves the way heor player he says right uh and so Mamu getting these reps alongside Victor you know I think has been really

Fun to watch you know that that little uh growth together um you know do I think Mamu is going to be like a rotational piece in a in a title run and years come I don’t know about that but the point is you know Blake Wesley Blake

Wesley brandom yeah all of these guys you want to see okay how do you run the twom Man game with Wy how good a job do you do of finding him when he’s streaking across the floor um so so that is all important um but yeah if they

Shut him down and you know said all right we’re we’re not we’re not wi winning this race let’s just go to the garage and and you know change some fluids get it get ready for the next one I’m all cool with that if I’m Victor

When this season ends I am uh going out with the fellas maybe Dave and Busters where everybody can get in yeah uh you know play some Papa shots some some Time Crisis whatever and then I’m getting on a plane with extra leg room I’m going home to France I’m eating all sorts of

Crepes and cheeses I’m sitting in Parks uh with my family and my friends uh and getting into camp for for Team France uh but seriously uh I I hope that he gets the rest that he deserves because when you are trying to be everything to everyone

Um you can’t do that if you’re not taking care of yourself uh and not that he hasn’t been taken care of himself obviously like the the reason that he’s been as productive and as available as he has been all years because he does a great job of taking

Care of his body and his mind um he’s he’s locked in in that sense but it’s been incredibly demanding um and so he he definitely uh has earned some time to recharge his batteries so yeah s sit on the sit on the riveron young man just

Let’s start off with the first one this is from I wonder where he got this name from Connor McLoud yeah there could only be one um he says Tom time to trade vasel he is to injury prone and he’s reacting to the news that Basel is shut

Down for the rest of the season um you hear a lot of Spurs fans say that about Mel I don’t think he’s injury prone I just think they got to take care of something and every NBA player goes through this and throughout their career and it’s just vel’s time to do that so

No Connor I disagree with you I don’t think he’s injury-prone I think they’re just being very precautious on vel’s long-term Health Tom uh that’s good I was trying to figure out a more polite way to say that than what was going on in my head I

Think you nailed it uh no offense Connor uh but yeah just just looking at this uh he played 62 games his rookie season 71 38 last year where he needed surgery yep uh halfway through and 68 this year here getting surgery on a like you know

This is something that I think if there was a playoff push going and I’m not the doctor again uh but if there was a playoff push going on I think he probably could have kept going um I agree yep you know it’s yeah trading a guy because he’s

Injury a guy being injury-prone I don’t think is ever really a reason to trade him also injury prone like like I I don’t know necessarily what that means like Zack Collins in the early stage of his career injury prone um and at that point it wasn’t

Like like injury prone to me is like you you know you’re a little clumsy maybe you trip over bass hound sometimes you know um but like like Zack Collins at that point in his career it was like years that it took for between games for him that’s that’s not injury-prone that’s

Injured uh and like like perpetually and seriously injured so um you know he got healthy and that and he got he has managed to carve out an NBA career here um but yeah and and Devon vasel is this the second most important spur on the roster right now um absolutely we really

Seen the two game Twan game with him and wemy Blossom in the last you know month or two here of the season um and he is the guy who goes and gets tough buckets absolutely so yeah no I I don’t think that uh his season ending a few games

Early with an injury this year is is uh reason to be traded absolutely yeah you know before the news came out that he was injured uh injured uh for the you know just going to sit out for the rest of the season I I spoke with him in his

Last game played and we talked about his improvements that he personally saw from start of the Season till now he address that he reads defenses better that he notices he’s getting double team a lot more but he know can pass out of that facilitate uh so you’re seeing that

Growth there interesting though uh when I was doing that uh little write up for Ken five uh in the fourth period this this season he shot 57% so that was his highest field goal percentage shooting in any period this season so he really was kind of becoming

A go-to player uh down the stretch all right so sorry to disagree with you there Connor but appreciate the comment the next one is from Chris and now he’s reacting to what C Osman had to say recently saying that if the season started today this team will be a lot

Different and the record will be a lot different and he says yes definitely a playin team if the season starts today thank you Chris for that comment you know I kind of agree with them I think if the season were to start today the Spurs were humming I think this team

Could be a very dangerous team so I think in a vacuum right obviously this Spurs team right now Leaps and Bounds ahead of where it was at the start of the season I think there’s an argument to be made that these last five games here has been their best five game

Stretch their their first three- game winning streak right and then you take the Warriors to the wire you take the Nuggets to the wire um you know I I really do think that so much of it has been they just have to learn how to play

A a different way uh with W be in there um like like it’s almost a different sport playing wemy ball uh and we’ve seen these guys figure out a little bit more of what works they’re they’re getting the ball to him when he’s open they are uh they’re moving well around

Him they’re in these past five games they’ve been like even surviving a little bit when he’s off the floor um it’s they they’ve been playing much better and I don’t know man I I think the West this year is really tough the Rockets have won like 11 in a row or something

Crazy um you know there there’s a lot of a there’s a lot of parody in the NBA right now uh period but be the West is especially tough and so I I don’t think they’d be locked into the to the playin but I think they’d certainly be in the mix for it

And also W’s growth right yeah exactly yeah also too just think about it you mentioned the 11 game winning streak that Houston just recently was on just to get into the playin right now the Warriors are about 40 wins and that’s playin that’s play and like you know

It’s crazy the the teams that are fighting for the playin it’s not like you know oh upand cominging Oklahoma City Thunder like they’re there already yeah the Thunder the Thunder there it’s not like you know Timberwolves how are they going to figure out how this no Timberwolves are there it’s the LeBron

And AD Lakers yeah and the lastes the last the last vestages of the Warriors Dynasty you know holding on for dear life and and I mean say whatever you want to say about how this year has gone for both of those teams uh I don’t think that any less

Exper experienced team wants to run up against one of them nope in the playin or at all like you know like like we’ve we’ve seen LeBron do this for how long it feels like the last decade of his career he has been pacing himself in the

Regular season so that he can give all when it’s time to give all um yeah I I can’t I can’t count out either of those two teams so uh I do I do think yes the Spurs right now uh are playing some of the most fun basketball

I’ve seen them play some of the best basketball I’ve seen them played pop said you know after that Nuggets game where again no Sohan no Vel no Kellin um and you’re you’re riding the back of wanyama on the way to like almost a quadruple double again which by

The way he’s going to get before the end of next season I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten it yet already I’m I’m just saying that right now as definitively as I can uh he’s he’s it’s just a matter of time um and they they look good despite how

Tired wmi is and inefficient at times um despite not having three of their best players uh in that game against the nuggets and Papa was like yeah that’s that’s one of the most competitive games I’ve been a part of in years um so you you see that they’re starting to

Get it um and I think that’s something that you know when we all put our heads together before the season we’re like yeah we think this can be a play and team uh this is what we were sort of anticipating and it took them a lot longer to get here as a group

Collectively than I think we thought heading in we we thought heading in or I thought heading in it would be a lot more simple to integrate wemi you know like like how hard could it be turns out pretty hard pretty hard yeah turns out when you have to change your whole

Philosophy a lot of the with a lot of things it it takes there’s an adjustment period and for young guys that adjustment period took a lot longer if only we can go back in time to the uh Kan 5 Spurs Round Table you put together for us and redo our predictions I

Think I think maybe one person should have been a pessimist yeah but but like like that wasn’t just all of us going on and being like yeah home team go home team it was we legitimately thought yeah like like I know everybody on that table nobody who’s sitting there uh bloviates
