  1. Would have been better for the tank if we lost, but Scoot got experience closing a game out so I’ll take it.

Glad to see some W’s at the end here. The guys need to feel good going into the offseason.

Fuck the tank. We’ll get the #1 pick the hard way boys

Here are some of my thoughts on this game:

    Positives:

    * Banton did a great job running the offense, especially in the first half. He had some really pretty drive and kick passes, and a few nice passes to a diving Ayton.
    * Ayton played awesome all night. That midrange jumper is automatic for him, and he’s been so good at getting open on those in the PnR. I also really like that he’s mixing up his rolls, sometimes stopping short for a midrange jumper and sometimes diving hard for a lob. I think earlier in the season, he didn’t do a very good job of this and was very predictable, but not anymore.
    * I thought Scoot also had some really nice looking passes too, and developing some better chemistry with Ayton. I feel like his shot selection has been pretty much the same throughout the season, but at least it’s nice to see some shots go down the last couple games. And the passing has been as good as ever – I think his future in the NBA entirely depends on his scoring. Also that last and-one is SO encouraging from Scoot – playing off two feet, decelerating, and bump finish. I really love it – that’s something I think he should use some more instead of playing off one foot and trying to go full speed at the rim that just hasn’t been working.
    * I feel like a broken record saying this, but Kris Murray is a jump shot away from being a pretty decent starter in this league.
    * Shout out to Minaya – if nothing else, he plays hard and he’s a pretty smart defender.
    * I’m pretty intrigued by Vukevic on the Wizards – true 7 footers who can move that well, shoot, pass, and aren’t built like a complete stick (like Poku or Jared Butler) are pretty hard to find in the NBA. Getting a guy like that in the late second round is a steal.

    Negatives:

    * Jordan Poole just chucked the Wizards right out of this game SMH. I’ve never been a “lose at all costs” guy but man this would have been nice for the draft odds especially with the Hornets winning today.
    * Scoot commits some really dumb fouls. I like the aggression and willingness to defend, but lots of these fouls are so stupid. He’s constantly putting BOTH hands on his man, handchecking, and pressing even when it’s not necessary – all things that will get called pretty much every time. And you can blame the rookie whistle all you want, but Toumani is also a rookie (and a late second round pick so you would think he would get an even worse whistle) but doesn’t get called for that kind of stuff. His defensive fundamentals really need to get cleaned up over the offseason.
    * This is probably like wishing water can’t be wet (and I know he just put up a hell of a statline) but asking Ayton to create any sort of offense or break down his man 1v1 is horrendously ugly. He’s a great play finisher but I really hope we never ask him to do any more than that.
    * I get that he’s still figuring it out and picking his spots so I can’t judge too hard, but Rupert has a really long way to go if he wants to do anything more on offense than shoot some spot-up threes. But like I said, he’s a 19 year old rookie so you can’t really expect too much.

If you can’t see the vision of why Scoot could be become one of the best PGs in the league then idk what to tell you.

Glad he’s having some great games even if they’re against awful teams. It’s good signs none the less

Getting a better lottery spot is a very long shot at this point, just have to worry about the Craptors only being 2.5 games ahead of the Blazers.

Edit: Toronto just beat the Dame led Bucks, some nice extra wiggle room for wins.

Let the chips fall where they may with the lotto. Good win for the young guys’ confidence.

  8. 1850ChoochGator

Our 5th time this season putting on a win streak. The most is 3 in a row and it was once

  9. Muppetpalooza

Great to see Scoot come up with that tough and-1 to close the game, he’s been getting in a better rhythm lately. He and DA have been working out some chemistry on offense as well in terms of Scoot recognizing where Ayton is most effective and setting him up. Speaking of Ayton: him getting so much usage, hitting the boards, and playing good defense all without being called for a single foul all game is pretty impressive.

I’m just happy seeing Scoot and Ayton ball out tonight, that’s a win in my books.

  11. Chalupa_Dad

5th spot is locked…. I’m cheering for wins again!

  12. Donkeynuts00

I know tanking is the big picture. But seeing big a game from Ayton and that clutch shot from Scoot are worth the win.

  13. winning these games just makes all our other losses feel less like tanking and more like us just being terrible

  14. Trick_Weapon

Very happy Scoot has bounced back from a couple horrible games where I was really questioning his ceiling.

It’s against trash competition and In general he has been really good in those scenarios all season, but probably his best two games of the season back-to-back.

  15. Blokin-Smunts

Fuck Root sports. Went to watch the game on dvr and it didn’t record because the kraken and mariners were listed. So glad we pay $200 a month for this.

  16. If we were serious about tanking, DA wouldnt have played these last couple games lol. He is just refusing to let us tank. The 2 man game with him and Scoot is starting to look nice

  17. Motion to strike the word “tank” from this sub, all in favor say “aye”

  18. thorhyphenaxe

I’m upset at everyone involved in this organization

  19. deepstaterising
